Title: [GTR2] 24H GTWeb - 16 & 17 March 2013

Hi all,
NO! You're not dreaming! It was said that the 24H Ultimate race would be the last event in GTR2 24H whom we would organize .... Oh yes it's true ... We told that, but ... no, no we can't drop it this way ... endurance races is our fuel, our engine, our reason for living, our drug ! Once we've tasted it, we just can't stop this way, it is not possible

After long month of abstinence, we decided to be back again !
Still with the same team in Orga and the same guys who transformed our endurance races into real LiveTV Show, always with our infallible Live Timing and, we hope for it, once again, always with you, the pilots who rely on us since our beginnings.

Of course, we shall invite the usual foreign leagues which always put a lot into our events to give again to this race, the opportunity to gather the best teams and pilots in the world.

We shall soon reveal the choice of both circuit and Mod but you can already reserve your weekend of 16-17 Mars 2013.

Many pilots, speaking about this track, are telling it is just "the most beautiful track in the world"!

Greetings everyone,

As everyone is now informed, YES, for the first time, there will be "only" two categories and we will deal with the choice we made.
But why? As we previously said, we put the on-track fight card on the table for this endurance race, therefore we chose two categories that will be pretty close to each other in performance. The GT2's will be slightly faster on a single lap, but on the entire race... the GT3's are going to be very close, they will consume a little less gas than the GT2's and tire wear will also be slightly better than the GT2's. With race circumstances, the high probability for rain, strategies and eventual race incident, it's not excluded that the inferior category wins the race this time.
So, you all got it, for the first time, it won't be 15, 20 nor 26 teams you're going to fight against, but 52!

Now that you're all aware, it's a next step for the upcoming unveiling of the mod for everyone to try!

I was actually hoping it was Power and Glory mod for 24hrs! But no complaints! Would have been cool though, and a first!

So, the provisional team so far...

  • Spanner
  • Purdie
  • H@L9000
  • Roadrunner
  • Legzy
  • API

(I assumed your in Legzy and Spanner  ;))

Pau, any others?  ;D

One thing I learnt is you can't have enough practise for these events so the sooner we get the team entered and car selected Roadrunner can start skinning it and we can test  :-*

I'm up for it too, though may depend on what car you opt for, and I don't mean it has to be a Porsche...though that would be perfect  ;)

Hi everybody !

The great moment came, Mod is at the moment available in the Download Area (http://www.gtweb-live.com/site/index.php?file=Download&op=categorie&cat=21).

You can consult in detail the functioning of the tool of synchronization Here (http://www.gtweb-live.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=157&t=5798).
Warning, it is forbidden to use Mod of the 24 hours The Return excepting the frame of this race.
You can however get closer to admins GTWeb to make the request if you want to make it.
We have never refused to give an authorization on a special request but we consider that, regarding the amount of work invested, it is the slightest thing.

The performances of cars were adjusted to have a well-balanced tray, on the other hand it would be possible that an adjustment takes place via an update before the end of the registrations  and the validation of the teams / cars.

Registrations are also opened from now on.
Considering the number of teams / leagues having already announced their participation and even if we shall not take into account it as criterion for the validation of the teams in the event, we ask you to register your teams very quickly because it would not exceed 52 slots initially planned (http://www.gtweb-live.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=173&t=6687).

For it all the members of your team must be registered on the site via this Procedure (http://www.gtweb-live.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=157&t=5797).
So Team Manager can proceed to the registration of their team using this Link (http://www.gtweb-live.com/site/index.php?file=GTWeb_Endurance&page=InscriptionsTeamsListe&idEndurance=65).

Team Manager is not necessarily a pilot of the team. He will have the responsibility to verify if his team is correctly registered and authenticated on the site by consulting regularly this page which recapitulates Errors of NAME PLR (http://www.gtweb-live.com/site/index.php?file=GTWeb_Endurance&page=EndurancesErreursPLR).
If pilots are already registered on the site GTWeb, it is useless to make a second registration. If you forgot your password, simply make the request to admins.

Team Manager can modify the composition at any time until the qualification which will take place on March 14th 2013.

A server will be opened soon with Mod to the address: s1.gtweblive.com
You can visualize laptimes via the link Free Practice #1 on the website.

Good testing all !

Provisional team so far...

  • Spanner
  • Purdie
  • H@L9000
  • Roadrunner
  • Legzy
  • API
  • Gazza
  • Mark J

Was going to commit to a team but it requests your car class selection, so I'll hold off until we have tested them a little (unless anyone who has done this before knows what is best)

I tried the McLaren and it seemed nice and balanced. Competitive times seem to be around 2m20s.... yet to try the 911 et al !

Deja vu with the mod, i thought i still had the last spa round cars installed. Only half a lap in the porsche but felt as good as our GTC version i'd just raced with!

Just stuck our team in on their site. 47 teams registered already!!!

Oops, sorry for jumping in, hadnt noticed your updated post earlier. Car choice isnt fixed, infact team members and car choice wont be tied down till a few weeks before the race.

Your both added so you can jump on the servers anytime. hmm, hadnt realised we had a full team!

Err what class then?

Just had a go in every car for a few laps. I have to say that they're all OK really, though I'd rather stay clear of the Audi, Alpina & Porka (no I'm not winding you up MJ ) for various reasons like tyre wear / boat / engine noise / feels wrong.

That said, I expect there to be a select few plebs driving for other teams at this event, so on reflection I'd rather we did the GT2 class (where we're more in charge of more of the overtaking, rather than having to cross fingers everytime) over GT3.

Porsche was pretty solid last year..i found it ok and im usually not that great with them, that said im not sure how i`d go in the rain (as much as i like it) with it, done 3 laps again just now, 25l on with a 2:20.3 average, so i dont think im far off what i managed in race last year fuel corrected...
Also tried Z4, was rather nice, default setup with 50L 2:24.6 average, pretty much did everything i asked, very few suprises, dont know how much quicker it`d go once sorted out, wouldnt fancy me chances of gettin those guys doin 20`s n 21`s with GT3 thoguh

Will try a few more later on,

Also noticed some teams on the entrylist have 2-3 cars in the same class, obviously may come to nothin come selection time, but somethin worth considering if needs be?

I personally disagree, but maybe using it last year is enough of a reason to be adventurous & use something different this time :beta1:

Groan...not yet another fresh install of GTR2  ::) already have about 4 versions of it now!
Ta for the info.

Car wise, erm, apart from my obvious preference  ;) i was thinking Fezza or Aston Martin  :) But i'd like to see what the cockpit view is from them first.

Ok ok  :surrender:  :P

I`ve been on server tried some cars back to back, Only changed to max revs, Radiator to 3 and brake cooling to 2 on everything..M3 tried some other stuff to make it more drivable...

And so....In last place

M3 2:21.229 - Still scary as ever, will try it on default again at somepoint

Aston 2:20.997 - Pretty steady, nothing to dramatic

458 2:20.925 - Felt quicker, its a bit lively at the rear though

Lambo 2:20.816 - Pretty good all round...good brakes!

and the winner is...

Jag 2:20.396 - Would go faster if i had a clean lap  ;)

I like the Aston but due to PC issues i'm struggling to even do a lap without it freezing for a few seconds before carrying on  :cursing:

I don't find the 911 that great, and didn't last time we raced here in one. Would still race it if we went that way but otherwise a british car would be cool  :)

Off or online Purdie?

All four were pretty decent for me too, but we should consider fuel consumption, tyre wear (handling drop off) & ease to drive consistently quick, as well as best lap pace.

Well after having a issue of GTR2 crashing for the last few days it has been hard to get any real practise in. I do really like the XKR and the Aston V8 and the 911 is growing on me a little, its just so unforgiving in this mod! Too much trail braking usually ends badly!

I`ve tried a few with some major setup changes. Lambo`s 20.6-8 range. Jag was 20.4, and figured out where i`d gone wrong with the M3 setup n got a 20.2 out of it. M3 does seem a bit on the rubbish side for brakes but makes up for it on handling i think

Can someone remind me, was it a 2hr or 3hr stint we each had to do for this?  I may reluctantly pass my seat to that slowcoach Jon  ;) if its 3hrs. Sadly an ongoing neck/shoulder injury would cause me too much grief for 3hrs  :'(

Unless the team want to finance a swedish au pair to stand behind me and provide massages during the race  ;D

I only really want to step into someone's space if It's necessary. I've been working flat out and haven't had much time for stuff at the moment, I wouldn't be able to dedicate the time I have in the past so don't feel any need to jump out of the hot seat just yet MJ :)

If nobody eles wants to race then I will.
I just had a quick blast around and completed 3 timed laps but it only registered the quickest lap. The Jag seems a bit tail happy to me so I'm not sure weather to go high or medium downforce with this car. The way I'm sliding it around maybe high would be better.
This is the high downforce setup. This started out as Purdie's setup, see what you think.

I had mentioned on their test race thread we were going to turn up in some capacity. Though as it looks like 4 of us want to run and you guys are quicker than me i shall run on my own as i need the practise in the first stint. Do you guys want to organise yourselves for the 3 stints?

Purdie your setup isnt available anymore.

I'd better add Jon to our team for this race. Ive added him in place of MJ.

Even though the main race is a month away we have to confirm our drivers and car selection by the 19th Feb???

Sadly I'm going to resign from this one chaps, just can't face a 3hr stint with my neck. I'd need physio on it again and just not worth the aggro/risk. :'(. Could have done 2hrs tops really.
I wish you all good luck  :)

IMPORTANT

* Teams/cars validation is planned February 20th. It's important to verify before this date that all your car choices are good in the case whe can't allow you your first choice.

* Many pilotes still don't make some timelaps on ouyr server. The liste is here : http://www.gtweb-live.com/site/index.php?file=GTWeb_Endurance&page=EndurancesErreursPLR (http://www.gtweb-live.com/site/index.php?file=GTWeb_Endurance&page=EndurancesErreursPLR)
It's very important to make an average laptime and to verify that the registration is ok. If a pilot is not well registered, his laps won't be taken into account during the race.

If i'd waited till you lot confirmed i'd be waiting till the races started!

So who is doing what then? RR first then Purdie?

I was goign to do as a bit of an enforced test but  havent got happy with the setup yet. Car seems very unstable under braking and i keep loosing the back end. Dont have the confidence in the fron end yet either.

I like the help for Heroes my self.

I think today or tomorrow is the last opportunity to get a time registered on the GT Web server. So, if like me you have not posted a time yet ::), then you better get on line and get some times recorded. :)

Err.. I'm not convinced you need to pre-qualify by tommorow.

Pre-qually currently ends in 22days, 22hrs, 22mins as shown on the free practise times page.

Updated setup with a few tweaks.

I just set the brake duct to 1 and BB back a fair bit. Alot more stable and quicker. Will try the others tomorrow.
Goodwork Dan 8)

Hmm...interesting...though duct on 1, would that not fry the brakes on a long run?

TBH I've only done 1 hour stints but I didn't think the temps were too bad and you can brake noticeably later because the brakes aren't stone cold at the big braking points. Then again I have only done the long runs at night when it has been cooler.

Hmm, yes, noticed you were quite late on the brakes looking at your 2:17 lap...

General pointers for all...from what i`ve seen of the test races i probably wouldnt bother with inter`s personally, not sure if some others did, but alot of the quicker guys didnt waste time in finding the gravel when the rain started coming down, same for when it dries out, they for me went back to slicks far to soon...promptly Spa became the worlds most expensive scrap heap, i prefered sticking on wets and using the standing water to control temps, is enough of it for a while as there could be 4-5+ cars off the road at any given time, made up close to 10 places in each of the last two, just because i kept it on the road..

Hard wets are doable on a flooded track but you gotta be careful, only worth it if you know its only a short heavy shower

I can remember last time at Spa and it was just drizzling for ages and getting wetter then very slowly dried out. The choice of tyres to have then were soft slicks. When the weather data gets released I'll do shortened versions of the 8 sessions using the autosim weather program for people to have a go with.
