My testing times for comparison:

Panty Modena: 2:17.3 - 177 mph best speed
Vette           : 2:17.5 - 186 mph
Daytona        : 2:17.5 - 184 mph
906-8           : 2:18.8 - 171 mph

The top 3 are for me within 3 tenths after more than two minutes, so that's close enough in my livre
Panty is fastest round the curves, Vette the slowest, Daytona is in the middle for top speed and corners.
906-8 is slowest but I struggle with Porches front or otherwise, is likely not far behind if you can keep the
speed up in the turns.

Can't match lap time for Panty but confirm top speed - tried different axle ratios but 177 mph is max speed.  ;D

Not telling you any lap times or you will ban the car.  LOL

But are we supposed to do pit stops in this one?

EDIT:  Ah, scrub the question about pit stops.  You fooled me by having the practice server set for a 25 lap race. ::)

@Tudor: I looked at a few including my test and our real server and they were all the same, except one had disallowed auto gears
I have the servers set to "Simulation" and I tick to allow auto clutch and auto gears. Not sure how to make it so it allows less
without editing files.

Did a few more laps in each car earlier with Ricardo, and I am quite a bit faster in the Panty than the others, we got down to
2:14.8. then I did few in the Vette and was just scraping the top of 2:15.9 also low 16.s in Daytona
I think the Panty should be left for normal earthlings like me  ;D and hot shoes should (and probably can) push the heavy
metal round. I am not changing any cars this week. I am just working out the fueling for each car so as not to scare CLive
with pit stops  ::)

I still think that if anyone can hustle the Vette round the turns it will be as fast as the Panty, just I can't

Riccardo blew his motor in the panty after only 6 laps. I think it needs gentle gear changes particularly downshifts
I did 6 laps at 60% and it stayed at 60%

Checked the server in-game and these options seem to be greyed out and unavailable, so maybe it's just a GTR2 or PnG bug. Braking help would have been very handy here  :)

Makes me feel better with the Panty.  ;D Had 10 Lap on-line session, 6 qualifying and 4 with race fuel load. 2:18.78 with qualifying fuel and just under one second slower with race fuel. :thumbup1:

OK now I`m officially confused.

How on earth you did 184mph with daytona? I can manage only 180mph (290kph).

With other cars I can hit those speeds that you wrote but with daytona not even close ...

My top speeds:

vette       : 187mph (301kph)
modena    : 179mph (288kph)
daytona   : 180mph (290kph)
906-8      : 173mph (278kph)

Try 12/38 final drive Ed, some of these big yank motors peak well below max revs, some of the Corvettes particularly so.

I tried with 12/38 and got 184mph, with the next lower final drive I was getting 182

I have also run a few laps in each car for fuel consumption, and they will all do the race with at least 1 lap extra fuel remaining

Just had a few laps round here in the various car choices and I'm quickest in the Pantera by a couple of secs.

Must admit I'm not a fan of these cars, especially on this type of track where just putting one wheel on the grass is race ending. Roll on Hungaroring  :)

I have reduced it occasionally when it looks like a tight crowded race

So here's the plan then:

Drive as fast as your car will go through T1.

When approaching T2, change down a gear and try to drive as fast as your car will go while trying to avoid the concrete cornfield to the left.

Lift slightly through T4 (presuming you missed the cornfield).

Brake as hard as you can. Turn right.

Drive as fast as your car will go.

Brake as hard as you can. Turn right.

Drive as fast as your car will go.

Repeat (presuming you missed the cornfield the last time round).

    :-*

That last one is for Colin  :)

No wonder, french farmers are tough guys, imagine harvesting cornfields as hard as a solid walls :o

Chortle.  :chef: There is a pattern forming this year. I put on something a bit "different" to break it up a bit, if I didn't there
would be moans and groans about "another tin top/roller skate/muscle car/Porche fest (insert as appropriate) at a too busy track"
And when lots of people turn up we have some great racing. I put on the Lotus 7 at Monaco and lots of people slagged it off
yet those that turned up had a really good time. For me, there is a huge difference between hotlapping an uninspiring track
and racing there. My only regret about this event is that I probably should have used the more obvious Panty BOSS
but if people choose cars based on their ability it will be a very tense race. I did one here at NG a while ago and it was great fun.

Agreed Matt, as I wrote on the Hungaroring post, my driving ability is now limited to the slower less powerful cars.  That Monaco Seven Race was the best drive I've had for months, and the long battle with Dan.
Regarding tracks I prefer to race on a track I've driven before or a modified version as the time to learn completely new tracks ofter  precludes me from racing due to lack of practice.

Only had time to try one car so gone with the Pantera that I created a setup with @Monza, seems like I'm in the right timezone with everyone except the recently super-fast Geoffers!

Sorry to hear about the connection problems.

Could I please just remind everyone of our rules regarding in-game chat:
:taz: During Qualifying and the Race, no in-game chat may be used, typed or auto-chat, except as explicitly allowed below.
:taz: During Practice and Warmup sessions, there is no restriction on the use of in-game chat.

The following auto-chat messages may be used:
Pit In Issued a corner or two before the pit entry to warn any following drivers that the car is about to pit.  Becuase cars in GTR have no indicators, the use of a pit in message is encouraged.
Pit Out Issued as the driver passes the speed limit point on the way out of the pits.
This is not an excuse to rejoin regardless of oncoming traffic!
Using a Pit Out message is permitted but is not encouraged.
The text may be varied to suit but should not become distractingly long or difficult to read.

Only players acting as race control are permitted to use typed chat message during Qualifying 2 and the Race. Such messages will be prefixed with "ADMIN", and any instructions issued in this way must be followed by all drivers.

Drivers are strongly discouraged from using in-game chat to apologise after an incident.

At the end of the race, in-game chat may be freely used only after all cars have completed their final competetive lap. (Same goes for qually)

At one time tonight I couldn't see a thing in my mirror for people saying thanks and sorry!

Rant over.

Enjoyed tonight but wish I hadn't made a mess of T4 on lap1.  I'm sure there was a brake board missing!
Grats to John and Geoffers and all survivors.  I could have done with another couple of laps.

PS Sorry to Stig if I got in the way.

Here´s a first one of the many DNFs.
First of all I was looking forward to racing Kurt and Bill but somehow I lost sight of them in the hectic moments during the start so I decided to attack the entire grid on my own. Had a great time during the 8 laps I survived this extremely fast track that I remember so well from our GPL days. I couldn´t find out whether it was me,my wheel and pedals, track or the Porsche, but a fact was that the 906/8 was extremely unstable under braking and I couldn´t find a satisfying remedy. So the two spots where I did have to apply the brakes were adventurous undertakings the outcome of which was uncertain to both driver and crowds. In the end some extra pressure from änother Porsche that had gradually been reeling me in (sorry had no time to see who it was. Goldtop?) was good for the Final kill. At the end of the long straight I brake bounce crashed it into "Poste 10". Driver unhurt ,car smashed beyond repair. Yet, great fun while it lasted and thanks all for racing.

See you next one. Cheers (senior-)Dan ;)

Unofficial LapChart* (http://www.justanotherpage.nl/Srou/PnG/GTR2_reims_2013_3_7_20_45/)

Good race. Was surprisingly running in the top 10 so was a bit of new territory for me.
This and my overambitious car choice could have let to some erratic track behaviour.
Here's my explanation:
- blue flags were vigorously waved during the first half of the race. Couldn't imagine being lapped already so I ignored them but If I held up faster drivers my apologies.
- Had a good battle with Matt but saw you spinning out of control in the hairpin. Tried to give you room on the inside after the fast curves but my braking point was probably a bit sooner than you expected. Fact that the 200 sign was gone didn't help either. No blocking intended.
- With Seniordan's Porsche it was also a nice slipstreaming fight. Saw that you were right behind me in the long straights but I had to brake the lump of metal at the 300 sign to corner the Corvette. No brake test intended.
If you feel that I was out of line, please send in a moderator report so I can learn.
Again, normally I am running at the back on my own and now I was 'in the thick of it'.

Congrats to John for the win and the rest of the podium.

I am clearly really missing something with PnG pitstops - every time i do one something goes badly wrong..

Oh and did anyone go into the concrete cornfield on lap 1? If not, I claim the honour of being the first in on lap 2. Broke suspension, hobbled round to pits for lengthy repairs, got going again but had stop/go for pitlane speeding (despite crawling into pits at walking speed). Came in again to serve stop/go but pitboard would not come up to let me serve it, despite much manouvreing and faffing about. DQ'd.

So, not a great success then.

Congrats podium, and assorted survivors.

Well that was more fun than I expected, for the first half of the race anyway.

Got beamed up by the  :alien: in quali, but managed to escape them and got back on the grid for race time.

Had a steady start and kept out of trouble and was soon up to 8th or 9th and into a great battle. Didn't expect to be able to draft the tanks, but the 906 was quick through and out of the corners so I could hook onto the back of the vettes and Matt's Daytona down the long straights. Made for some very close and exciting racing 3 abreast at one stage  :o  8) Had a nice chase with Dan in another 906 until we both outbraked ourselves and I managed to sneak through as we rejoined.

Didn't realise I was leading this champ or I would have taken it a bit more seriously. Really looking forward to the final (?) round at Rouen now....I already know which car I'll be taking, so I just hope it's fast enough to give me a chance of getting up there.

Congrats to John, Geoff and Clive and all who are still alive  ;)

Usually pit stops not working are because they are waiting for the engine turn off
I deliberately don't map a key to engine so it then stops automatically after a few seconds.

Always a race off attrition here, there looked to be some dodgy driving in my mirror early on
I will check the replay, not sure why Jos left, maybe it was him that got shunted off.

Final rounds are way off yet, I can only keep a month or two in advance. if I get an inspiration for a new series, one of them will have a
couple more events then have a final.

just an awful experience for me this evening.

During quali, I was on a fast lap (a good one) when I had "connection lost".

I knew that there were not much time left for the quali to end, so I rejoined as quickly as I could,
went to the track, did the out lap, started a hot lap and when I was about 10 meters from the finish line... "NEXT SESSION"   :cursing:

Ok... all good... started off the penultimate place in grid.

A good start gave me a couple of overtakes but, to avoid other cars, I went wide to the right and... stop/go penalty for entering the pit lane...  :cursing:

not only that, the pit limiter was also activated and I didn´t even know if I have mapped a button for the Pit limiter.
well, I thought that P&G simply didn't have pit limiter.
 :cursing:

Sorry for one or two chat messages during quali and at the race start, behind it was my emotional outburst.

I hope I don´t get severely traumatized by this events. I'm seriously (mentally) injured and, at this point, doctors tell me
that I might not be able to race again.

Grats to the podium and all finishers.

Cheers!

Good result but a rather disappointing race.

Qually went well & I just got pole position from John. Start was terrible, bogged it down & then got too much wheelspin & got a bit sideways, sorry to anyone behind who I slewed into the path of. Fortunately I only dropped to 3rd & set off after John & Jos, who got very close through the first couple of corners before Jos went off at T3. Clive doing something similar when he came sailing past into T4.
Hoped to at least match John's laptimes but I was losing around 1 second per lap. After 2-3 laps part of the reason became apparent, I had set the tyre pressures too high in my race setup as the middle of the tyres were much hotter than the outsides  ::). Still was quite comfortable in 2nd despite a small off about lap 5, but as the race wore on the car became much more difficult to stop in a straight line. Good job the race was only 18 laps, Clive was gaining hand over fist the last few laps & another couple of laps he would have caught me.

Congrats to John & Clive & everyone who made the finish line.

lap 1, corner 2 (or myabe 3), I win! :D

Sorry Jos I win. Unfortunately I made it to a few yards past the T2 300 marker board.  Another Panty (massimogt I think) lost it on the grass on the right hand side (just before the marker) and in trying to recover it he came across the track.  I couldn't avoid him, (sorry) damaging front of my car.  I lost it to the right and went hurtling across the infield, quitting just before a barrier that would have totally destroyed the car.

I was disappointed too Dan, we had a look at each other in practice and I was looking forward to battle with you and Kurt but it was not meant to be.

I had to miss this one, couldn't practice or race due to work. Hope to be able to be back next week!
