Is this the default Imola or the 1994 version?

Thanks Geoffers, is the default built in. And thanks Bill I have removed the extra one.
I must have been tired or rushed that day... ::)

Also, I had intended IROCs for this, but I like the RSR3.0 it's an easier drive with a safe setup (for me) so I am sticking with the RSR

Well I might manage to be in the right car for once.  Or is there one with sticky boots and extra oomph?

But the race announcement says that it's part of the Lotus 7 pram series?

Stig

Not sure, but you could well be in the wrong car  ;)

Assuming this is a 3.0 RSR race and not a Lotus7.

Edit: or indeed it could be that the lap count is a bit off  :)

Lap count may be wrong. I will check. The series is still called Lotus7 because I decided to
make it into a "Spec Series" rather than just Lotus7, I will rename it perhaps, though if that
means creating a new series the name can stay.

You can change the name in LM2 under Event Groups. Best to keep P8L7 tho.

To equal  40 minutes it should be 19 laps

2 05.6 is my best effort in the default car. If I could just put a whole lap togther without a mistake I could be a second quicker

I'm in trouble.

On Friday I did a TT session on Imola and when I was bored with chasing my own shadow I went on line.
No SROUK server was visible so I tried to join *CJ's PnG v3 Room*.

The game hung without completing the last bit of the banner that runs across the bottom of the track map.

Don't know what the thing is trying to do at this point but that is where it stops, no matter which track I try to load, on-line, off-line and in TT or practice session.

Any ideas?

Maybe try removing your profile from the userdata folder (move it to alternate folder), then start PnG.
If it's doesn't load, just stick your profile back.
If it does load, close PnG normally (without creating a new profile) & then stick your profile back in the user data folder.
If it loads "cool" & if it doesn't then the problem is in your profile.

Yep, getting rid of me enables it to run but kind of defeats the object.

What do you think that it is it about me that is causing the problem? (Please try to stay on subject here!   ;D )

I think there's a list of recent tracks in the PLR file (or one of the other files in the profile folder). I had a similar thing with mine a while ago and ended up copying & pasting bits from my old profile to a new one. I never narrowed it down enough to find out exactly what the problem was, but perhaps look for that track list and remove or replace it with whatever is in the new profile.

Someone sort out Santa Pod for Clive for the next race, I get the distinct impression you like the most powerful car on the straightest track possible  ;D  ;)
The one chicane I have always struggled with here is the one at the top of he hill, it can be a right bugger lap after lap and even spoil your race if it turns you around.

Don't want to see any corner cutting here chaps! We will be watching  :shifty: :detective:

Actually I don't think you have to worry that much about corner cutting here.

First of all, regular racers in these series don't cheat on purpose.

Secondly you'll get a warning and eventually a 'stop and go' if you try cutting in any of the 3 spots on this track where it would really matter;  including the tricky chikane you mentioned.

If we are to police everyone going wide at some point in this race, I think we'll have to invite at least one more Italian for the race  ;D ;D

Corners are fine.  Just want to see more than four inches of straight between them!

A chicane is a circuit designer's admission of failure!!!!!

LOL Stig  ;D

I should be able to join this one after a long time!

I just finished a small training session of about 20 mins, and I really like this combo! In race trim I should be able to keep a pace near the mid/high 2.01 at the moment (without cutting :P), but I'm sure I can go down a little bit more. Someone will be on the server this evening?ù

Can't wait for the race! Cu chaps!

I had a word with Mirko Tomassoni, the current Captain of the "Most Serene Republic of San Marino"
and asked him if they could remove the chicanes because the famous (in his own lunchtime)
racing driver Clive Loynes didn't like them....  ::)

His reply, after he'd spun his wheelchair round a few times as he laughed his haddock off
was untranslatable by Google  :o

LOL

I didn't find the time to practice a single lap in this Imola version so far, but still, generally speaking, I have to agree with Clive's words:

"A chicane is a circuit designer's admission of failure"

It's funny cause it's true!

Either way, I like Imola. For me, the more twisted and technical the track, the merrier!

EDIT: oops, I thought this was the 94 layout. So, it's the default Imola... yes, I can confirm that I've had few.. some.. many.. plenty of laps round this track!

Worked my way through the PLR file and found that something in the [Game Options] was causing the hang up.

However, the car now sits in the garage, leaping about like a jelly on springs, and refuses to budge when I put it 1st and let the clutch out.

I think a complete re-install may be needed.

What happens  if you create a new player? I have done that in the past and it hasn't changed my life

I think that many of these nasty modern chicanes are more a case of the cars evolving into
something they were not when the tracks were originally designed, and it only takes one
arrogant and over confident driver to (possibly) set his car up so low that he bottoms out and goes straight on
to make track owners add devices to slow the cars down. The 1st chicane at Monza is just plain
daft, if they had made it a bit more open it would not be too bad, but that go kart thing they
have is insane and a travesty. The Senna chicane here is not so bad, the high chicane is
horrible. IMHO

Off topic perhaps, but generally of possible interest:

A government e-petition has been created to try to avert the possible closure and redevelopment of Mallory Park (Leics) as a result of noise complaints from local residents. This is not necessarily just from new residents.
The local government is trying to strike a balance, recognising the economic importance of the track, but the track is becoming increasingly restricted by reducing dB limits.
There appears to have been an agreement in place since 1985 but this is being reviewed.

Sign, decline, or circulate as you see fit. E-petitions take only a couple of minutes to complete.

I quite like chicanes, always have since my first scalextric set  :) I enjoyed them at Oulton last week in my own car, they add a nice challenge and it always feels good flying through them. The chicane at Cadwell is mega when your on it.

As for noise aggro about circuits, nothing makes my blood boil faster  ::) do we shut motorways, airports and rail lines because they build houses nearby? Fooking nimbys....grrr.

I have some (a very tiny amount) sympathy for people who live somewhere and over the years
the noise of cars/bikes at a track or a track where they only ran once every other Sunday
are now running track days etc several days of the week. But when people buy a house near
an airport/track cheap because of the noise and then try to have night flights/track days
stopped they are "cheeky"

Just used google earth to look at the area surrounding the track. Mostly agricultural but also some very posh looking new houses and housing estates. Bet they claim they didn't know the track was there when they purchased  ::)
Anyway I've voted and passed on.

Similar storey at Ty Croes (Anglesey) there have been house+s nearby for a while
but someone has decided to get awkward. The track has been changed to make the hairpin
a bit further away from the houses, and they have created huge earth banks to reduce
direct sound.

Croft suffered as well, it was in danger of being closed down completely because
(Allegedly) the Owners wife shacked up with a local chap (a solicitor) and they then
started a campaign to kill the circuit. No emotional issue here guys of course  :whistling:

Oh well. Hope it didn't cause any mayhem.

Silver lining - my main championship title contender got disco'd too ;) (sorry, couldn't resist)

Wel actually...cough....check that leaderboard  ;) Not that it will stay like that for long  :)

Sorry to hear of the discos and pc woes, had my fair share of those lately and know how frustrating it can be.

Well that was a lot better race than I was expecting as I just could not get this combo working and car never felt comfortable particularly under braking. Some nice battles throughout and good fun towards the end trying to put MJ under pressure. Well done for hanging on there  8)

Grats to Manteos for a triumphant return to us  8)

I thought that was a friggin awesome race, 8) so glad I made the effort considering how crappy I feel.

I was really struggling in praccy and early qually getting flashing stars before my eyes and feeling out of sorts. But then I got miffed that I was only hanging on in the top 10 and must have given myself an adrenaline surge as I suddenly upped my pace in last two flying laps and leapt to 6th? From 10th, and crucially, ahead of goldtop  :)

Despite making what I thought was a good start, I got totally pounced on off the grid by about 4 cars! But they then all got tangled up in turns 1 & 2 and I was able to pick my way through on the tail of geoffers. He was unusually cautious for the rest of the lap and that allowed the pack to reclose. Had a good little scrap with animal ed for a few laps until he made an error. Closed on geoffers and alessandro and wondered why geoffers was slowing, nearly hitting his car mid track.
Then had a very long hard chase of alessandro up ahead, always within a couple of secs but not getting much closer. This lasted about 15minutes! He then lost it under braking on he downhill section and I was 2nd !!  :)
I kept it clean and charged on with GT a further 5 secs back for about another 10mins, but then with about 5 laps to go he blinking upped his pace and really started piling on the pressure just as I was hoping to wind down to the finish.  :sweatdrop: he got within 1.8 secs at the very end despite me setting two quick laps! Great stuff GT  :fencing:

Really enjoyed that, epic feeling for me personally to get a 2nd place in an RSR at Imola after fighting two very quick opponents :thumbup1:

Congrats to Matteo on the win and Gt on the podium and all that finished  :thumbup2:

Well, I'm really disappointed for John's disco >:(. I would have preferred some close action with him during the race, but... what a pity :(

When I saw that I was "alone" in first position, the only thing I could do was pushing as fast as I can, until the tires were good. By the lap n° 10 my pace was really worse than the first half of the race, and I've done a couple of small errors. The only thing I should do was to bring my car to the end, and I was succesful in this mission. In the last 2 laps, I reached JPV and another guy that were fighting for the 9th position, and I decided to avoid to interrup their duel, without lapping them, and letting them fighting until the end.

However, it was nice to race again with you chaps, and I hope that won't be necessary 5 months to race again with you... who knows  ???

Take care chaps :) See you

The lobby/connection seemed unusually bad last night with lots of folks dropping in and out during praccy & qual I noticed, not sure why?  ??? Considering it was a stock track and one car class you would think it more stable. Bad luck for John and Geoffers as I expect they would have given you a harder time upfront Matteo.

Woke up still smiling about my result :walkman:

Unfortunately I had to skip this one due to my Job-obligations :(. A damned shame really, I liked the combo, did many laps of practice and was down to a decent laptime.

Looking forward to next race  ;D

Another disaster..    :(

Confident of being near the sharp end, but just couldn't get the lap done in qually - aborted several after cutting one corner or another.

No matter - start was good and made up several places, only to make contact with Nik who must have gone off at the T1 chicane. I got through that and found myself in P3 although wasn't really comfortable with that at the time as not quite sure what happened there - so I pulled onto the grass in case there was any blame on my part.

A lap or so later someone spun coming out of the second chicane and I couldn't avoid them. Big hit.. Could have hobbled round the rest of the lap for another comedy pitstop but didn't fancy that again after last week. Remainder of the race was good to watch though.

Congrats to podium; comiserations to those with connection problems.

This time I`m happy with result and my driving considering that I was just show up for event without training and setup, actually without touching my steering wheel for more than a week ...
Main reason why I took ultra conservative and safe but slow setup - almost default except gear ratios and lifting front end for one click, medium tires ... and that was mistake but I learned the lection for next time.

Start!? I don`t think that my start was something special but I did gain 4 or 5 positions `till the Tamburello than avoided scrap in front of me heading to the Villeneuve 3rd!??! But just before corner frexx overtook me and suddenly slow down in front of me (some kind of problem because he went of in straight part of circut) allowing 2 more cars to pass me. After that it was all the same. I was chasing someone, I was chased by someone and despite I was 3rd again in one moment, 5th place was my designation because there wasn`t speed in me for more than that.

About white lines, I was really trying hard not to abuse but exits from Rivazza and Variante Bassa was too tempting. I didn`t cut chicanes unless I mess up my braking which happened few times in last part of the race  ... I think that I have about 5 laps out of 19 totally clean when I was too slow to exploit those extra space  ...

Quite enjoyed that. Had some good tussles with Jarda and JPV, was looking forward to having a good
battle with Clive, but he seemed to be having trouble, and went wide allowing an easy pass.

The 1st corner was a bit messy for some. Someone got a bit over aggressive, not sure,
but there was some banging of bodywork. Later on I lost it and went wide allowing
Massimo and Frex to pass, Massimo lost it in the next chicane and (I think) Frex was unable to avoid
I braked and managed to get round with no contact. Spent the rest of the race being caught and
passed and then catching and passing JPV and Jarda, was some good grown up driving  8)

@Jarda:  Have you registered ? you don't have to, you can race in the events, but you won't score any
points unless you do.

I forgot to mention the white line matter in my comment.

I watched the server replay, just to be sure I didn't exploit too much the curbs. I'm satisfied with my driving cause I went over the white lines only a couple of time in the first sector, cutting 2 or 3 times the "Villeneuve" entrance, and exploiting the curb at the exit of the second corner of "variante Tamburello", in which sometimes my internal wheels were outside the white line about a few centimeters.
In the second sector, I cut just a couple of times the first right corner of the "Acque minerali", and my lines were pretty clean in the second right hander, even compared to the other drivers. Especially at the "variante alta" I was surely less "clean" in my driving, but it was really an hard work to stay inside the white line, especially at the exit of the chicane.
The first Rivazza corner was the point in which probably I cutted most, and the same is for the second Rivazza corner, especially at the exit. "Variante bassa" was another point in which I tried to be careful at the white lines, but 4 or 5 times during the race, I surely anticipated too much the entrance in the first left hander.

I've done my best to be "clean" in my driving. I don't know if for the standard of the other drivers I was too "unfair". You have the replay, you can check it and then decide :) It's not a matter for me if you judge my driving incorrect, but I'm even more sure that with my lines was impossible to gain 3.5/4 seconds per lap. Now it's up to you, I will accept any decision you will take pacefully :).

P.S Reading the report of the race I found 3 brave guys with Dunlops... did you read the .pdf "P&G v3 TYRES CHARTS"? In a fourty minutes race, they were surely the worst option. The only advantage of Dunlop is in terms of tire wear, but they have much less grip than GY and Firestone (soft and meds).

See you :)

I watched some of the replay, and most people, including myself had occasional trips outside
the white lines. It's not so critical here. There are kerbs with kerbs after them, the green kerbs
were put there to be driven on by the circuit designer, so they are going to get used at times
I saw no "cheating"

Interesting. I know a couple of the 3.0 RSRs have slightly more power than the others, but wasn't aware that the tyres made much of a difference.

Not that it would have changed my car choice - I don't mind not being in the best car, and anyway have a bit of a thing for Jagermeister liveries ever since lusting after a certain Tamiya 1/12 scale model kit as a kid..

I am so sorry mate, I got rammed by Riccardo Genotti in T1 and took me out of the track as I was trying to rejoin the track didn't realize I had suspension damage and lost the back of the car wile joining the track and into u Frex then u into Animal Ed sorry mate, it wont happen again. I don't know how Riccardo managed to ram both me and Alessandro haven't seen anything like it before. It was a ok race managed to climb back to 6th place.

Nice :) I wasn't planning on using one of the higher powered ones originally, but then heard rumours of fast Italians on the practice server so thought I'd need all the help I could get ;D As it was, Matteo was comfortably faster anyway, great pace :thumbup1:

Thanks for the lapchart, Alex. Nice to see what I would have had to try and keep up with. I was about half a second slower on the medium tyres, so it probably wouldn't have happened, but would have been fun trying.

In this case, your choice was absolutely justified ;D

However, keep it in your mind for the next races, unless you don't have only models that used to wear dunlop tires when you was a kid ;)

Sorry to hear this Nik :( I'm sure Riccardo did not want to create troubles. I just watched the replay, and this is what happens. Riccardo surely lost the braking point, slightly tapping Alessandro in front of him, than the porsche of Animal Ed tapped Riccardo, pushing his car into you at a very fast speed. I guess that Riccardo should have been more careful, but even Animal Ed was not so cautious cause the cars in front of him (Alessandro Tancioni and Riccardo gengotti) were already in the braking zone, and he has made the same mistake of Riccardo. Unfortunately in this situation you have been the only one to lose something Nik :(
Evenmore Riccardo suffered a disconnection a couple of seconds later, and could be possible that he had some syncronization problem with the server.

I'm not Riccardo's lawer, but I decided to answer to you in place of a bad Google translation :)

Sorry again for your race Nik. See you :)

No problem Nik, and no apology necessary. Despite being lifted off the ground I don't think my car was damaged at all, and I could (and should) have just carried on. Taking to the grass to wait for you just succeded in putting me in Animal Ed's way i think (sorry Ed).

i wasnt even aware there were differences in the various RSR's in P&G3 other than two were newer vintage !  The few i had looked over on the stats all had same bhp/torque etc. hadnt thought to check different tyre manufacturers and have never got the spare time to test one set of tyres against another really. May do now though  ;)  I think its great everyone chooses their favourite sponsor scheme and dont think i saw more than one of each car last night, although sure there must have been. The grid looked superb.
I love the Jagermeister car, always have since a kid. 8) Same reason as Frex...tamiya! Also like the Valiant one for same reason  :)

I took the Harley Davidson US sponsored one as ive got the exact same Minichamps 1:43 version sitting right in front of my keyboard ...along with about 30 other various 911's dotted around the spare room, including a Jagermeister 935. Mad for it!  ;D

You're welcome :)

What you stated about your replay could be absolutely true, cause every single client replay, will be surely different by the server replay, that is the only one you can blindly trust ;)

About the tires issue, you can check the tire guide directly inside the setup menu in game. Look at the top right of the screen, and near the word "tires", on the right of it there's the "tire guide" (click it to open). There are three sections on the top of the screen (1960-72 tires/ 1973-1976 tires/some useful infos). If you're going to do some wet races, you can chech which tyres are better for any single weather condition talking about the 1960-72 section. Remember that in this period, there were no rain compounds at all, but the GTLW guys cannot erase them from the game, so the "intermediate compound", the "Hard wet compound", and the "soft wet compound" are just repetitions of the slick compound (that are actually carved tires).
At the opposite, in the 1973-76 as it is written in the pdf "As the compounds progressed from all-purpose treads, to dedicated dry weather slicks, separete treaded wet compounds were introduced."

:)

Just watched replay again and I did tap Riccardo after he tap Alessandro ... Nick was 3rd completely on the right side, Alessandro and Riccardo was 4th and 5th in the middle of the road and I was behind completely on the left side so I`m not really sure how much cautious I could be there. I was almost completely off throttle and ready to brake but I was not prepared for car that suddenly stop in front of me ... but I agree that it is wierd in replay (both mine and from server) because from my car it was just a touch after he hit Alessandro but from Ricardo`s car it`s looks like a huge hit from behind. Maybe he had a kind of problem that I had at Mallory Park when my pc was frozen for a second and was going out of control ...

btw Samsom Kremer RSR 3.0 is on Dunlops, not on Firestones ...

forgot to say - I wasn`t on the left to defend my position. I was there just because of situations like this, meaning not to have a car directly in front of me ... but funny thing is that I don`t remeber this situation as I see it on replay. Already stated my opinion about chat so I would not say "sorry" but I would pull over and wait if I feel that I did something wrong. In this situation I still don`t think that Ricardo lost control because of me. Also I don`t think that he was just not cautious enough - looks like out of control (lag maybe) ...

I saw a car on the left seemingly stick the brakes on and come to a halt well before the braking zone on the run upto the corner and remembered thinking 'that's gonna hurt' to whoever was alongside me as we approached it. Don't know if whoever it was managed to avoid rear ending it as I carried on my way but did think it a bizarre thing to do!  :o  was it a disco'd car?

I agree with your reconstuction of the incident, and your tap to Riccardo was probably an unavoidable consequence of him tapping Alessandro. I guess that the speed of Riccardo after your touch was absolutely unnatural because his car splashes off like a bullet after he received the tap, and this usually happens when the client connection is not so fine. I didn't want to give you the responsibility of the incident, but I just described what I saw in the replay. That's it  ;)

Guys

This is internet racing, and the internet weather can produce some strange effects.
If anyone feels that someone drove really badly, then file an incident report, and poor ole Tony
will need to look at the incident, and make a decision which could be a word of caution
to someone, or a place drop penalty or if someone is a complete idiot, then exclusion
from the results. To me in the Server replay it looked like someone was a bit "pushy"
but there were also some odd connection things, so if you are happy to, just put it down
to internet weather, and perhaps learn from it.   :surrender:

p.s
Porche tyres fixed for future events. Thanks Ed

ah, so i was one of those on the inferior Dunlops...interesting. Tyres felt good to me on the whole, maybe a little squirelly but then i was running a stiff setup. Tyre wear was good, had grip right through to the end of the race, no noticeable drop off. Be interesting to see if i could up my pace further with a set of Goodyear or Firestones.  I was surprised during the race to not get anywhere near my pre event PB's with race fuel and had thought i'd be breaking into the 2:02s on the night considering i had managed plenty of 2:03.0's beforehand.  :-\

No worries Animal Ed, these things happen to all of us, in my replay I dont see u at all, and Riccardos car doesn't seem to touch me, is maybe like 1 meter away from mine but my bumper gets bend and me off track, so is definitely a connection problem.
