Notes:
(1) Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKGTR Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3349.0) - especially the speed limiter starting procedure and the rules about in-game chat messages.
(2) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=397&theme=3)
(3) You will not be able to join the server without the car physics pack and track (see links above).
(4) Drivers may only change car once in the season without penalty.
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of everyone's connection will be reduced.
(6) Please use the Driver Details (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=profile;sa=driver_info) page to ensure that the league management software has your correct GTR2 'Driving Name' (not necessarily the same as your lobby name).
(7) The server will be set to 26 slots, not 28.

note that while this is no where near Ginsters GTC lap record (his Spyker was "equalised" at the end of that season), it seems relatively competative with the other GTC drivers historically.

I would like to join this race if possible.

I'm a new SROUK member and I have already done a couple of races in the P&G league.

I have already installed the car pack, all the skins and the sound pack.

I just tried to join using the practice pw but got the infamous message "booted as possible cheat".

Can you help me diagnose my problem here?

Regarding the possible cheat message, how many times in a row did it appear? If it was less than 3 or 4 keep trying (it's just something we all see once in a while for no reason), after that there may be a problem.

Trying to avoid taking one of the Porsches for this season. In the process of testing all the cars again to see what takes my fancy but having to cobble together setups as I've lost all of my old ones  ::) Getting into the 2:02s in most of them so should be able to race with at least some of you  :-\

welcome Dragon, good to see you in the modern stuff too,lets see if we can re-enact that race long battle we had at Portimao !  8)

Ok, I've sorted the problem with my cheat message.

The problem is that I was using the tweaked GDB and TRK files that come with P&G V3 for the standard tracks

I've just replaced them with the originals and it's all good now.

Now, regarding the car I'll use on this event, I noticed there's personal skins, like Team Oldie ones (that I assume Legzy will use), for example.

Being a newcomer, the right thing to do is to pick one of the SROUK standard skins (mainly white skins, for what I saw), correct?

In fact, I think I'll take the Z4 M, and if not mistaken, the SROUK skin is the RedBull one

One more thing, when you talk about lap times - as Goldtop just mentioned two post above - are those lap times usually accomplished with race fuel and equivalent tyres?

I'm asking this because, from what I've been reading, when no mention is made regarding the conditions, e.g. soft tyres, quali setup, etc, I tend to assume that the lap times that you share are always with race setup.

There is absolutely no restriction to car or skin choice. If it's on the server you can drive it. Usually team members choose their team skin, but sometimes they don't if for example they prefer a particular tyre manufacturer.

I always practise with race setup so my times reflect this. I think most here do the same  :-\

I usually mention what spec my times were achieved with, so for instance here I've managed a 2:01.6 in qually trim, 5 laps fuel and race times of 2.01 with 40mins fuel. Both online.  :)

Car skins, yes choose whatever stock skins you can see, more choice for the stock Simbins cars, less so for the add on cars.

If you like the yellow & black theme, you're more than welcome to become a team oldie driver (let me know & I'll send you a proper invite) We've got most of the GTR2 cars skinned IIRC :)


p.s. My 2:02.1 is race pace/spec MJ

The TSviewer doesnt load on these race thread pages for me as it jst sits for 10-20 secs.

Not loading for me either

I've noticed problems with loading these forthcoming event pages for the last couple of days.

I've got the TS3 viewer ok at the mo, are you getting an error or does it just remain totally blank?

Hopefully will be there, gotta dust off that Z4  ;D..50/50 atm, shall do as much of the season as i can though

It didn't show at all yesterday and didn't seem to leave a big gap or anything either, it just took an age(!) to load, seems ok again now ??? (P.s. it was tested on different pc's/browsers)

So what car are people thinking of taking for the new season?
I would normally gravitate towards the F430, it has excellent cornering/braking & I know its fun but safe handling very well.
I find the Z4 vaguely similar, but really carries its speed through the corners, though has to pay a bit of power to compensate (or other cars would have no chance!)
Despite the 997 probably being the overall fastest (this helps MJ keep up :P) with apparent excellent handling & strong straight line performance, I just can't do Porka's.
Currently I'm thinking of taking out something a bit different to my normal rides, my hot favourite being challenge of the non-cornering Viper & it's brute force ;D
But if I get a chance pre-race, I want to quickly test the TVR as I don't think I've ever taken that before either :-\

What you lot taking? I for one are looking forward to seeing the grid lined up 8)

Seems like I'm a bit rusty...  ::) Will try not to ignore Legzy and join tonights race. I need a brake from all that tank shooting anyway. :P

I'll be taking the Exige tonight, but if I'm horribly off pace I will probably use up my 1 allowed change and revert to the 996 or 997 for the rest of the series. Just hope I have someone of similar pace to race with and I'll be happy.

I think Jules will be joining us too and if so he'll be in the 997.

 :sleep1: Legzy still beating that same old drum about the 997's  ::)  from the many races ive experienced in GTC it hasnt got any advantage over any of the cars. The Z4M seems the strongest of the bunch and H@L in the Panoz has been extremely fast, whilst the F430 is also an excellent car. So put a sock in it  ;D

ps... there is a brand new good quality F458 Italia mod out. Wouldnt mind seeing that added into the mix  8)  Be easy enough to do if we all installed it.

So you can set the same lap times in the other cars MJ? :-* ;)

Well that was a lot of fun. Wasn't sure about the Exige and almost took the 996 in the end, but glad I didn't as it was so errrrm.....entertaining  :) Never quite sure what it was going to do in or out of the corners and kept me focussed all race. Had a nice little battle with nsfast and had TT close behind keeping me under pressure.

All was going well until I shifted into 1st by mistake spinning me round and allowing TT through.

Well done to Daniel and the podies  8)

Qually was a good battle throughout trading times with the top 4 and ending up a good 3rd on grid  :)

I knew I was in for a very tough race with Tgc in front and NSF and gt right behind.
First 5-10 mins was spent harassing TGC for 2nd and I felt sorry for him when he got spat off a kerb and span across track (no idea why he quit tho as was off the racing line out of harms way  ??? )
The rest of the race was spent with NSf breathing down my neck, chasing me hard so I couldn't ease off for a second.
He mounted another late assault and I really had to focus to keep it sweet and was very relieved to see the chequered flag for a great 2nd place finish  :clap:
Dan was untouchable for the lead, great drive.

Good team points too with TT in 4th  :)

oh well..

everything was running great, I was even surprised with my 2nd position in quali (I chose the Beemer simply because I don´t remember driving it in any GTR2 mod but, man, that thing is fast!)  when suddenly I had a problem that has been harassing me lately: I'm having brief but highly damaging freezing.
I don't know if this is the right illustration for what happened but my limited english lexicon can't handle much more.

What happened was that I was exiting turn 8 and correcting my front from a minor tail slide when the steering just stopped responding for a 1 second, so I went just forward into the grass and, when finally I had a response, my left wheels were already on the grass and the spin was inevitable.

I just had time to hit ESC because I didn't want to cause general mayhem - I was 2nd by then, so, except for Dan, everyone else was just behind me. It all happened on 3rd lap.

There was some trouble earlier in the week when Arvixe were having network issues. I haven't seen any significant problems since Friday, and every time I look the TSViewer is working fine.

Interesting race - yes Spanner, I am rusty. :D Car was ok until I the tyres were worn below 10, then I slowed down and then it got worse. :P Good pace of the winner, outclassed us all. Grats MJ, nice to see a Legend on a pody again.  :) Good turnout, too. Hope to be more regular here, though I miss a mounted cannon. At least 2 pounder would have been nice, might even make 2nd place yesterday. ;D Err, don't look at my grammar, my tense usage is horrible, I know. ::)

Enjoyed being back in the modern stuff  :)

Bit off the pace, didn't get close to my PB from testing the other day  :-\

Was having a great mid-field scrap with ApexTechUSA and TT in the opening laps, but when Apex got a slide on I couldn't quite avoid tapping his rear end. That put him and I to the back of the pack, which turned out to be a good race alone as we went up through the order a few positions! To make it worse I did tap him again but it was harmless (I didn't have it in for you mate lol  :D)

Grats to podium.... luckily Dan has just joined Legends Racing so we can say for once we have a monopoly on a series  ;D

Thanks H@L. I was lucky to get to the end as I got the "tyres warn, pit this lap" warning with over 5 mins of the race to go. Really slowed down to try and get to the end and luckily did. RR crossing the finish with only a handful of seconds didn't help by making me do another lap! Great pace up front but I don't think my TVR is going to be very competitive, not helped with my lack of talent but there is no way I'll find 2.5-3 secs to get near to the front running times :(

Wow, good to see so many people turn up and contributed to have a rather good race :clap:

With 10mins to go beofre the server restarted i may have tried to sort out my 3screens a bit late! Then the rediculous nvidia software and my dodgy old monitor refused to work as it should and even just boot up to a hdmi connection! So i had to disconnect everything but the centre monitor while having to swap the connection  to DVI.

Ended up just getting a few laps in before the race started, remembering how much i hate this track! Spent the first few laps a bit unsure of what i should be doing lol but that meant Prof got past but then spent most of the rest of the race stuck to his boot lid! I guess you werent that rusty then lol. I wish those naysayers would stop dissing the 997, at no stage did i ever breeze past him due to the massive power advantage!

It was pretty knackering concentrating for that long and meant some rather eye-watering moments! But also meant i was wearing the tyres out too much so by the end i was struggling in the slow corners and had no chance to chase H@L and Legzy up ahead once Prof went off. Bad luck mate!

Looking forward to the next one now.  8)
