I tried some LMP something or other way back when they were first mentioned as being a possible car for a future series and didn't get on well with them. So what recommendations does anyone want to offer that might help me out? Which car isn't impossible to drive? Where can one get setups that will help? Being of below average skill I can't drive alien setups but previous experience told me I didn't like the default ones. I need help ;)

I can only drive Lola, that seems the easiest car for me.  :)

If you can tell me what the biggest problem(s) are with a car, I'll tell you what to click to make the car better for you.
The sort of thing I'd need to know is:
1, Car oversteers at corner entry (as I stop braking) but doesn't turn enough when trying to get the power down on corner exit.
Or
2, In the middle of a corner when the power is neither on or off, I'd like the car to stop drifting wide so much.
Or
3, I keep spinning the car when I'm exiting hairpins & low speed corners.

Or other such examples. I just need to know what the car is doing wrong & when it's doing it. There are always at least a couple of options to fix/improve anything (except Porka's ;))

I'd be very happy to try to help.

My opinions of them has changed since i remembered when we first drove them. The Radical used to be nice and easy to drive and quick but having tried it recently realised it was a nightmare. Porsche was nice but just felt a bit stunted top end wise. Lola is tricky but easier for me.

It took me a few races to be comfortable with these cars but once hooked up I find them great fun. The major problem I had was being too heavy on the throttle exiting corners. I also think you need to be a bit conservative in pushing to the limit if you want to finish the race.  :o

I've found the Porsche is my preference. The default setups seem ok to use for my limited skills. I only change the gearing to fit the track.

Oh dear looks like there is no simple answer and I'll have to find time to practice and try out each car again  ::) Thanks for the comments so far.

Off topic.....
But - my real car Front engine Rear drive spins on entry and on exit particularly on tight corners
I have so far fitted a stiffer front ARB, and now have made the front springs harder and the rears softer
Can't do much with the shocks as I have to use standard parts.
Part of it is my driving where I am used to front wheel drive and expect lift off oversteer, so go into
corners too fast.

I've done a fresh install of GTR2 to get rid of some stuttering and it seems to have worked. I reinstalled UKGTR car v2.16 and then the LMP2 skins but the cars aren't showing up in the selection screen. In the readme for the LMP2 cars it says v2.15 is required but 2.16 has the cars included so i'm a bit stumped?

Oh, and its on the GTWeb installation as well but I don't see how that would be an issue?

make sure you scroll through all the classes. I'm not sure they appear in the UKGTR page as a 'class' but as a class in there own right. I'll look next time i fire it up! I dont do offline practise so dont know!

That could be it, although I do not have the GTWeb mod installed at the moment to check it out. It would be advisable to keep GT Web stuff on a separate install of GTR2 due to the heavy customization that they do. Other than that I am not sure what could be the cause.

On a side note, can I request we have one password for UKGTR2 for the whole season (i.e. we use the one we did for last weeks GTC race)?
Its tough for us Oldies to cope with know which password is for what....

I found the Lola easier to begin with but, not everyone has reported the same.

The way that I set the cars up is not too dissimilar from how I would set up a GT car except more ARB and more wing.

In my experience, there are three main handling characteristic differences to GT cars:
-Getting the power back on out of a corner is much harder and you will need to be more patient, maybe even learning track markers for hitting the power. You can also make the gears a bit longer than normal.
-You need to make sure that there is no sliding when you release the brake pedal after braking for a corner otherwise you will spin going into a corner. This will also affect lap time a lot. I use Motec to help with this.
-Steering needs to be very precise. You can spin by just steering around a corner if you turn the wheel too much. The lines you choose are very important. You can use speed sensitive steering (GTR2 in game options) to help with this if you need it.

Do not worry about being fast, worry about being safe and stable.

I usually start with very high wing (safer but slower) and keep lowering it to see what I can get away with.

So what's a decent time in these LMP2's here? Seems to be the first time we've run them @Brno, so I don't know how I'm doing :-\

Race pace of 1:45 so far, while I work on a "friendly" setup to share with anyone that wants it later.

Nice race, close battles with nsfast and chasing H@l and Apex.  :)  Closing in the end and was counting to have two more laps, when race ended early. Why? You would think after 10 years of racing in this game we could have either correct lap-counted race or ending on correct time. :(

Didn't really get to qually due to err.... being married :-X ;D

Race started & I had no FFB, so hung back trying to resolve but couldn't & ended up missing the start by 10 secs. So pleased to be only a couple of secs behind the pack at the end & managed the 2nd fastest lap too :o (maybe I should turn FFB off perminantly )

Bit of a shame the low numbers, but hope everyone is back for GT's next week.

Yeah, it's nice to be "back". I'll try to come and join as many races as possible and at the moment I'm good to go (at least) at the next sunday. ;)

Shame that the grid was so small for this one but I had fun anyway. Seemed like you guys had a nice battle going on for the entire race (from 2nd to 5th).

BTW. Sorry about the start Legzy. I slowed down the pace when I saw that you had stopped for the first time but when I noticed that you had some problems again, I was already on the last turns so there wasn't time to gather the group together. Shame as it seems that you had the pace. :-\
