Title: UKGPL Season 24 (2013) Privateers Trophy (67) - Rouen - May 19
Post by: BadBlood on May 14, 2013, 01:39:34 PM +0100
UKGPL Season 24 Graduates Trophy for Privateers
Race 9 Rouen

For Round 9 (gosh, where has the season gone?) we stay in France for the original Papy rendition of Rouen. Rouen was not, in fact, used for the 1967 French Grand Prix, but as the real site of that race was the yawn-inducing Le Mans Bugatti, Papyrus gave us this classic track instead.

One of Rouen's defining characteristics is the change of elevation and the differnec between Nouveau Monde and Gresil is almost 100 metres in altitude. Rouen hosted five Formula One French Grand Prix races, the last one in 1968 resulting in the tragic death of Jo Schlesser, at the fast downhill Six Frères curve. Although the circuit closed in 1994 and all evidence of racing activity (Grandstands, Armco, Pits etc.) were demolished in 1999, it is still possible, (just) to drive the public roads that formed this classic configuration.

We will run Intermediate Damage with the allowance of ONE shift-R reset. No Shift-Rs are allowed in practice unless authorized by the moderator. A Shift-R (fault or not) MUST be followed by a Stop & Go. A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed. Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 19-05-2013
Race Time = race starts at 21:30 UK time
Qualifying Time = Between 30 and 60 minutes, starting no later than 21:00 UK time
Track = Rouen (Papy)
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = INT
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 25)
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Replays Available here (http://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/inc_replaysS24_js.aspx)

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=388&theme=6)

The track can be downloaded from the link in the race list above.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be the first lap to the exit of Beauval. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=388&theme=6) standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Shouldn't be an issue Andy. I have used that very sucessfully. More likely that you have a corruption of some kind. It does happen occasionally so when you get it working, you need to take a backup.

Try re-naming the base GPL directory and re-create a new base folder. Then run the installer AS ADMINISTRATOR. Let me know how you get on.

if you are installing gpl on a windows OS after XP you should not install them into "program files" folder , check both gpl and igor/gem are not installed there .

Again I'm left thinking that I must spend too much time driving the stompy-gas F2/65 classes!  Despite that both F2/65 are fairly recent ventures for me,  it seems when I now get in a proper car :)   the first number of laps are more challenging than they really should be.   Was relieved to have finally managed a half-acceptable time (to me anyway),  which was not   the best part of 10secs off the back end of the grid.

Suddenly,come the race - the situation improved somewhat.   However, it was a bit lonely out there tonight.  Which is obviously good (in a way) re: the gap behind,   not so much for the other one!      Of course - we all prefer a bit of cut & thrust over lapping totally solo :)

Just the buzzing of M.Hunt ahead for most of the event, until he got bored of offering me some hope & decided to drive away.    Didn't really see anyone else,  but will mention that MH was warping a bit when I got close.  Didn't get close very often, so not a problem - but just mentioning it.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Sorry for the mess at the green flag but I suddenly lost the control and moved to the right side...  :-[

BTW: I wasn't able to enter #UKGPL chatroom neither from iGOR and VROC: it was asking me for a password?!?

This is a new improved devise, and is somehow connected to a new installation of 69x, which has already caused problems in the past.  But it's on a separate partition?  I'll start a short thread on the subject in a day or two, as this does not compute. :-\

When you decide to leave your helmet in the pits, the race start is not the time to go get it. ;)

L before E, except after C - damned Password!  I've never been to Lipezig, or Leapzig, but I'd been led to believe we'd be racing in France!  And this, having already been subjected to IGOR CHAT asking for a password?   I tried Nova Scotia, and even that didn't work!  I wonder if it was really like this in 1967 ?

Having finally struggled into the track, my landline decided to disco me, as usual, and I then had to repeat the whole damned elocution a couple of times!  This robbed me of any chance of grabbing the pole. :( "Grumble, grumble!"

At least my race start was good, until after 5 seconds, some maniac decided to make a sharp right turn, without first signaling.  Thereafter, with appendages still intact, my race soon became a matter of channeling Ferrari power, to hold Dave C. at bay, and stalking Andreas in his similarly equipped equipment.  He remained always, just out of reach.  I must remember to invite him to schnapps, just before the next race.  ;D

With 2 seconds only, covering the majority of laptimes, we're a very competitive bunch.

A good race for me ; first podium with the Privateers .
Very happy to finish ahead of Maddog and Andreas.
I was not sure to do no errors on this track (the "nouveau monde" corner is terrific ...)
