This one was hand crafted by Geoffers. Should be some very close racing :thumbup1:

At first glance it looks like someone has just closed their eyes, dived into the toy box, and picked five cars at random ;D

Ah well, that's where you'd be wrong Mr Mogget  :P
Sir Geoffers tested several cars, and these were his closest runners.
I trust Geoffers times more than my own, so I believe him  ;D

Another chance for me to try and work out the Escort :)

Now what stupid idiot would do a thing like that!  :whistling:

Actually tested several cars &, as Matt said, these 5 came out closest. But I'm sure someone will prove me wrong & go a couple of seconds faster in something or other. The most surprising one I had to leave out was the Alpine 1300, thought it would probably be a bit too slow, but was actually 1s faster than any of these!

Be careful of that final chicane. We raced at this track last week in a WSL test event (Cortinas, Alfas, Minis etc), and attempting to cut that inside corner just a bit too much can result in tragedy ;) I now refer to that chicane as "Mount Thruxton".

We have a very old post office here; so I shall have to see if he has any old stock hanging about in a dark corner.

Is 1:28.1 any good?

I only did around 10 laps in each car & my best was 1.27.7 in both the Escort & the 1750 Alfa. The other three were all in the low 1.28s.

After last week's issues I am going to run this one on our normal server, if people disco, well I've done my best
As the 1st test on my server went so amazingly well (though the second was problematic), I might try another in the future, but normal service
will be resumed for the moment. And.... I am here for this one

I’ve found some old footage of this track (didn’t it ever change during 30+ years?) with the great late Gerry Marshall driving my favourite car at this very track in the first minute of the film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD8SlqqKocA
 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD8SlqqKocA)
Notice the “alternative” racing lines sometimes chosen. The rest of the film too is well worth looking at.

Hope to join you this Thursday, taking the Slotemaker Alfa GTAm.

I'll definitely miss this one  :( .
Need some days (respectively evenings) to make
a complete new setup of my Windows with all components
after I destroyed the boot section of windows when playing
around with Linux yesterday  >:(
Fortunately no data were lost.

CU soon and have fun.

I was able to do a couple of practice sessions, but both were only ten laps each. I just hope that I choose a hard enough tire compound and put enough fuel for the race.  ;D

I'm sure someone will let you know what fuel & tyres they are taking if you ask the question at the end of quali... make sure it's someone trustworthy though :ninja:

why did the race start early? I got home at 8.30 rushed to get in the lobby only to be told cant join during the 'race' session  ??? and status said 'racing' next to the track/server. I should have had 10-15 minutes before the race started and was hoping to bang in a couple of qually laps  :'(

Not sure why the time was wrong. I assume the practice time was set wrong.
I was having a good race until I spun in a fast curve, was hoping to recover, but was in the way of
Simon , I suppose I should have esc, but it looked like he would miss.
Ah well.

never really felt the love for this combo & you need to feel it at Thruxton or you're either slow or off track, could have used some more time in qually to get to grips with it.

Never mind.

I am sorry LesN. I should have hit escape. I spun across track and stopped in a bad place.  :o
I could have continued, but I was too mad at myself to drive the car.  :-[
I look forward to the next one, and hopefully regain LesN's trust.

EDIT: There were a few other cars that were able to dodge my car. I am sorry to them as well.

Thanks, Walter

That was a very enjoyable race with a rather disappointing final few laps. I was very slowly closing the gap to Goldtop, Alessandro and Geoffers......and then Goldtop's car started lagging badly. I spent the rest of the race dodging ghost cars (or hitting them on two or three occasions), and it lost me loads of time.

Nevertheless, I was pleased with my pace in the Escort, and P5 was a decent result.

EDIT: On a side note....welcome to the WSL Racing Team, Nik  :thumbup1:

Had to quit mid-race to answer the damned door.
Probably would have been last on track anyway, if I had enough fuel.

That's because qually was only five minutes long.

I was still wondering about the answer to John's tyre question when the engines started revving so I missed the start.  Never saw any lights.

Then someone knocked me onto the grass just after Church and my race was knackered.

Well done to John.  Classic drive through the pack.

Had several races at Thruxton recently, and never comfortable in any of them..! This was the same, just not happy with the feel of the Escort from the off. Some good laps with Nik though, that was fun.

Apologies for my "no probs" message during the race - there was no-one near me at the time, but i accidentally caught one of my quickchat buttons.

Congrats John, cyu next time.

B'ah, Matt you numpty !  chastise yourself with a whipping stick !  ;)

oh well, in a damage limitation kind of way, my nearest rivals Animal Ed (no show) got no points and Legzy (fiercest muck about sparring partner) only bagged 4 points, so with Alex also in the mix its a 4-way fight for,...erm, 7th in the championship!

Until next time  :fencing:

Yea mate that was fun, 2 bad my front left tyre was gone I couldn't really push anymore towards the end. Great recovery after the spin couple of more laps u would have passed me.

well, pole position! a miracle with 2 lion like johnw and Scarpa running for this race!  ;D

A piece of cake!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

but my pace was slower than my opponents, and during the race, i was passed until to lose 3 positions.

during the laps, john w arrived like a red rocket behind me and he passed me without any difficult. good job , i'd like to drive with your style. ;D

then was the geoffers moment, and also he passed me.
during the last lap, a lagging goldtop , reached me until to  get my 3 position.

very very funny race for me , how ever!
c u on last track of championshig next thursday!

I don't understand why the qual was set at 5 mins, It usually sits at 20 mins, and never changes so I missed it.
I guess someone must have reduced it for practice server duty, dunno, I should have checked it though.

@Tahander
These series will probably run all year, that's what we normally do. The event list is only races that I have had time
to create so far. When we get to the end of the season I will post that "The next race is the season finale" or
something like that.

Maybe I changed it the previous week when we were possibly going to use the server at short notice.
Dunno, I will endeavour to get it right in future.

One of the circuits that I always enjoy driving and was especially nice to have an Alfa available  :)

Start and opening few laps were a bit hectic with some side to side contact which I eventually profited from. Had a very close few laps with Alessandro until I managed to sneak past into 3rd. Stayed that way until a few laps to go when I noticed John was closing at the rate of 1 sec/lap and would catch me with a couple of laps to go  :o  Unfortunately I panicked and lost it at the chicane allowing John, Geoff and Alessandro through  :)

Around this time Giuseppe unfortunately disappeared from the lead and I started getting "game synchronising" messages and thought I was about to follow him into the ether. I managed to close and sneak past Alessandro on the last lap for 3rd place, but I believe my lagging distracted him which took the shine off for me.....again sorry about that Alessandro.

Congrats to John and Geoffers  :thumbup1:
