Post by: Cookie on May 23, 2013, 05:52:12 PM +0100
UKGPL Season 24 - Pro Trophy - Race 9 - Watkins Glen

For round 9 we go to Watkins Glen in upstate New York. The well known Papy track...

The Pro Drivers will have a free car choice. Drivers will have to remain in that chassis for the rest of the season, they will only be allowed to swap chassis in exceptional circumstances and only with the approval of the moderator.

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race.
Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.
Full time drivers have priority access to the server until 21.00 UK time.
Please restrict your chat to a minimum!

The specific division rules for the Pro Trophy (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=391&theme=6) have changed as the INT division has been suspended.
Handicapping will be introduced from race three onwards and will only affect the top three drivers in the championship. The top three drivers may, at the moderator's discretion, be limited to a slower car. If handicapping is in action then handicapped drivers will be notified in the race post.

For this race the first three drivers will be handicapped:

Hristo has a >50 points lead, so he has the choice of Cooper or BT7
Axel and Florian cannot drive the Lotus or Ferrari

Tristan, that was appalling piece of driving. What were you thinking when you were making those suicidal dives on the inside and relying on me to go wide (or off) so you wouldn't hit me? I'm sick of idiots.

after only 2 or 3 laps, I spun at the terrific Loop and my car was seriously damaged.
I tried to continue racing but unfortunately I spun again, just at the moment Andreas and another racer were overtaking me.
Andreas could not avoid me and lost his position ...
Sorry Andreas.

After that incident, I left the race.

I think it was the other way around, Rainier... I was the other driver with Andreas, I just passed him the corner before, couldn't avoid you spinning, crashed into you, did multiple barrel rolls and lost the position. Andreas was just fine I think, because when I found my car back on 4 tyres and not too damaged, he was about 12 secs ahead... I spend the rest of the race catching and passing Andreas again, which was really rather fun.

Dont worry tho, these thing happen.......................to me all the time.

Btw, when I think about it, I'm almost sure I was involved in your loop spin too...  Did you spin at the very exit of the corner?

Sky, sorry for the confusion and sorry for the incident.

Happy that you finish the race and could pass Andreas again.
Without those 12 seconds, you could have a nice fight with Cookie.

Took the outside on the grass to avoid a collision, was a scary moment.  ;D
After that I really enjoyed the Hunt of Sky. He was clearly faster then  me. My fastest lap was then set in the slipstream. After-all a good Race.

So long
Andreas

well I'm sorry H. but I break little before you to let you pass , unfortunatly  :-\I block a little my wheels and spinn a little,  but you spinn also in the same time than me :P, if you don't spinn you pass in front 'cause I let you the place'( I am just behind you, there is not so mutch place but enought ), but you spinn ,it's not my mystake if you spinn, it's 'cause you don't want loose your place.....anyway we was 4 drivers to fight for victory  and this can append when we are so close  :-\...we are side by side in the bracking zone ...I 'm inside, what can I do when I see you who don't want let me pass?,and with Evil just behind us ?... so I break just before you for let you pass.... >:(.I  regret that this action ended your race ??? , we had good fighting before that ;D.....but from my reaplay, your car is never closer than 2 meters from my car , I don't force you to go out of track, if I make a little mystake, I'm not the only one on this action 'cause if you don't spinn and take your normale trajectory,or at least the exterior line, you don't go off....you don't find me on your way.....in your situation, I shurely said to myself : ok , I wait for the next straignt line , and I will be in the inside , that is a advantage ....and this will be not a idiot decision !......isn't it ? ;)

Tristan, considering the more powerful car you had, you didn't have to take such big risks under braking. If I hadn't gone off, you would have hit me anyway. What am I supposed to do, especially with a Cooper?

No contact was made because I went off. Otherwise a contact was inevitable because Tristan totally lost his inside line under braking. You should have at least given him a warning, which was what I sent the report for, not to get him penalized, but whatever...

I hope the incident itself is a warning to both!

You know, if you had lifted a little earlier, you would have caught him again on the inside...
If Tris had lifted he would have caught you a little later...

If I had lifted earlier and kept the outside line, I would have been hit and taken out. We're racing, I was in front, what you're suggesting is I should just let him overtake me without even trying. And I was the one with a handicap. Sorry, Axel, but sometimes you're just too clueless.

H, you knew well, if he brakes late he will go wide...
So you could have dived in the inside!

Funny, this trick I learned as a clueless noob :P

If he brakes late and I'm on his outside, it's his fault if he hits me. He is obliged to give room as I go around the outside and not just take unreasonable risks, relying on others to make way.
