rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v3 from:  http://gtlw-blog.flyingpig.info/
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

Nice, always liked ths track for both practice & racing which doesn't normally happen (it's one or the other :D)

Just to get us kicked off, 1:39 in the Cwapi after a few laps.

With my usual very brief - race fuel + hard or med tyres testing I get:

40.1 in the BOSS, (Eats tyres)
40.4 in Capir and SquashCourt
43/44 in 911 2,5 (so that means it will be a winning car for coleopterists)
43/44 in Alpine and Alfa (there for a "challenge" or easy drive)

Sorry to hear that Matt.

You need to do what I'm doing in a couple of weeks.   Retire!  ;D

So is this going to be a "be kind to the Porsche week"?  I have no way of knowing because I can't drive the things.

Only tried the pork so far and had to start from scratch with setup. Got to 1:40 and maybe a bit more time to find there for me, but I doubt it will be quicker than the Fords.

Excellent track this with a really nice flow to it  :thumbup1:

My limited testing times are above, I think a pork in the right hands could win the race
but will not be the fastest here for most people I believe. If Mogget runs with the 302 for e.g
his times will be quite a bit faster than any Flying Pig .

Retire? I have a few years to go yet, and even then I don't think I could afford to completely retire.
I will have to go doing some part time contracting I reckon  :scooter:

I am intending to run this race on my home cooked server again to see if last week's success was just a fluke.
again, if there are any major issues,( not just one person dropping conn who might have anyway), then
I will restart the normal server with 10 mins qual, you will have to do a "go to next session" from practice
when all have rejoined. I monitored the traffic last week, and we peaked at 300k bytes upload, and download
was less than a tenth of that with 20 people on track.

I will try to attend. I'm not familiar with this track so I might not have time to get up to back-of-the-pack race speed before race day.

Thanks phspok for the info about the cars you've tested here. Though it'll guarantee I'll be at the back I'll likely choose an Alpha. I like their handling.

Are these times with race fuel or qually? I can only manage 1:41's with 40mins fuel onboard in the 911. The Capri is surely going to dominate here, with the boss302 being the master of the straights but tardy in the corners.

That's with my race setup MJ  ;) I never practice quali until quali time as it gives me a nice challenge.

I tried the '72 Capri and the quickest Escort and they both yielded low 37s after a few tweaks, but might not be so kind to tyres as the pork. Capri was good fun especially as I don't usually get on with them. I'll try the '71 and see how that fares.

Fair play ya fast bugger  ;) looks like I need to find another second to race another 911...or 4 secs to catch a Capri  ::)

IROC and 914 are that bit too fast, and would be too strong here, so the 2.5 is whatchagets.

I just did five or six laps here. Love this track! Very well made it is. Top quality.

Will very likely attend - if I can get to 45 or less. Managed 48 and change just now - in the Escort.

Doh! I went out with 71 litres! That's enough for nearly double race length. I'll find out tomorrow how much dropping the load to qualifying level gains me in speed. Three or four seconds I hope!

Ummm. If we have to pit for anything we're kind of blind coming back on to the track. What's the policy? Anyone passing the pit exit should be prepared to keep right as they turn on to the front straight? Or maybe if the exit light, which I can't say for sure I've noticed whether there is one, is green we can assume no one is coming and just exit at speed?

Probably more relevant in quali as it is easy to impede someone's hot lap if care isn't taken on exiting pitlane.

I always run with the driver tabs on as it makes it easier to spot approaching cars. Make sure you have your rearward and sideward glance buttons mapped and use them down the pitlane and on exit.

Generally rejoining the track after a pitstop is part of the race and it's up to both drivers to battle it out (within reason). However, if you stop during this race it's most likely that any approaching cars will be about to lap you, so care should be taken not to impede them (unless of course it's any of those Soggy Bottoms  ;)).

Hope this helps.

Hello folks. My name is Stefan aka Postal.  After running a couple of GTL races on the Monday evenings with much pleasure, I decided to take the leap and start in P&G also.
So, if it is OK , I will be attending the race tonight.

Most of my laps are in the 1:41s, but I was able to get into the 1:40s once or twice.
All of my practice has been with the Ford Escort RS because I already had a set-up for it.
If I had more time, I would do some laps in the Capri.
Nice Track!
I hope to be there for the race,
Walter

I prefer to get some more practice in the Escorts, and see if I can improve my speed in them. The handling of the Boss 302 Mustang can feel a bit strange at some tracks, although it feels OK here.

lots of others have joined ok, kurt had to set dx to auto or he gets ctd
and Les Neilson is using the same car

I was alongside another Escort on the inside of a corner, and we must have done nothing more than brushed paint molecules, but he went flying off the track! I bloody hate it when that happens, so I quit. I don't mind waiting when I have clearly smashed someone off the track, but this was ridiculous >:(

Was having a very enjoyable race, in 5th place & harrassing 4th for all I was worth ;D

Odd that we've had so many problems tonight, this is at least the 4th time we've used this track & we've not experienced problems before (so shouldn't be a track problem). :(

Had a ctd in practice and then around 8 or 10 laps into race  :(

Not sure if it was heat related though as I had blue screen earlier in the evening whilst trying to get some sneaky offline practice in. Cars seemed a bit jumpy around me (think I might have just tapped Giuseppe early on) but again that might be my pc struggling to keep up.

Oops, looks like we've had a mass exodus  :(

Bit of a disaster that one, odd, the same server ran perfectly last week, no discoes etc
I restared the normal server but only a few joined, and some left, so the race is void.

I will re run this event next month.

Well Les and i had a go on the server full race distance.  No disco, just a very big stutttttter somewhere half distance (dont think it was my PC)

Capri vs Escort. That was very enjoyable, even with only two cars on track, we still had a race long fight. Thank you Les ;) (i didn't save the replay, could you get me the file perhaps?)
At least i will have some mileage in when it is being re-run.

Thanks Matt!
This track has a lot of fun corners. I imagine that the competition will be even tougher the next time we race here again. I will be interested to see if I will be able to keep up with those around me.

I am sorry to Mogget and LesN. I thought that I had LesN on my outside going into a fast left hander. So I slowed down more than normal so that I could stay to the inside of the corner. I think that he tried to slot in behind me, and Mogget was already there. I don't know if I had taken the corner at normal speed, there might not have been an incident behind me. Otherwise, the race was going very well. I'm looking forward to racing here again.

G'Day,
Walter

I would recomend Kaspersky rescue disc ... completely free bootable disc based on linux and it`s capable to recognize most network cards so internet connection for newest virus definition is not problem. In most cases it`s hard to remove malware in running windows and that makes this as the best possible solution imo ...

thanx for interesting my problem.
well, i uninstalled the 30 days free version just 2 weeks ago, and everything was going well.
but, during a download, my brain decided to install a sofware included in film folder.
from that moment, the troubles arrived likes bees on honey!! ;D
i can't reinstall the kaskerky antivir...maybe some strings are hidden in my boot.
every time that i try to connect to my google account, the browser says that my certificate has been revoked.
but connecting from any other pc, everythings works!

it hard to say....but i thing i need a format!  :-\ :-\

dload and run 'CCleaner' freebie software. Get it to clean up your system and your registry (might get rid of old Kapersky reg entries). Then try re-running your kapersky install (or better still another recommended malware remover).

Jeebers I better get some laps in here, not run it since the aborted race.

Other good freeware anti malware software is:

Superantispyware

and

Malwarebytes.

Formatting your HD should be the latest possibility ( I had to set up my Windows
five times during the last 3 weeks due to own and silly mistakes...  ::) )

Kaspersky rescue disc is not instalation for windows. It`s stand alone bootable disc able to start your machine, scan for malware and remove it ... and it`s freeware - no trial period. Also good for salvage data if os is corrupted or whatever ... enough advertising

Porsche and boss are fun to drive but nowhere near escort and capri with lap times, at least not in my hands.

Being as this died horribly on my home server last time, I am going to use our proper server
this time round. If people are getting discoes in prac/qaul, then we could move over to mine quickly
if required. If we do get trouble I may use mine again next week. Tony and I are both testing
alternative options in an attempt to improve the service.

was your home server acting as the practise server last night?  I only managed a handful of laps before it disconnected me and there were only 3 of us on track! Think an Italian got discoed too.  :(

'Sup Frex ? we always run Thursdays....

My server has not been up for weeks. Last night must have been the real one.
if it's that bad, I could use mine. I am a little nervous of using it, as last time
(this event) we had mass disco half way through the race. The week before it
ran perfectly though with 20 people and nobody discoed.

Tony's GTL race on Monday had mass disco on the real server, so I am tempted to
run my home grown one again....

Hmmm, what to do what to do   ??? ??? ??? ???

I made it all the way to lap 10. Was having a very enjoyable race, in 5th place & harassing 4th for all I was worth ;D
Very similar story tonight, really really enjoyed throwing the Boss Mustang around here & think I got just about every inch of robber out of them. But tyre wear in the 20's with about 7 laps to go, I lost it & hit the barrier while trying to stay with Clive in about 4th/5th with Mogget close behind :sweatdrop:. I lost about 5 places trying to get right, but the suspension was knackered & it was proper race over.

Very good stuff :)

mine was a race spoilt by discos  :(

Discoed out of qually spot with only 3 mins left. Tried to get a quick lap when I finally got back in but was pushing too hard and span it. Started about 15th I think.

Kept it clean off the line and took care to avoid the little out of position Alpines ahead. Got round to about turn 3 and hit a ghosting discoed car  ::), went off track and lost about 10 seconds and back of the grid...grrr. Then had a dull 15-20 minutes with nobody to race as I was so far back from the pack, until I caught G.Real's capri in the sister team BP paintwork. We then had a fantastic race for the last 15 minutes with Jarda also just up ahead. Reminded me of being 18 again racing my plucky escort mK1 against Capris !!  8)...back in the day when roads used to be fun and empty  ;)
I got ahead of GR's capri and stayed there for several laps whilst I closed on Jarda, but my tyres were completely shot and it got harder and harder to turn in with barrel loads of understeer.  GR got back past me and he then duelled with Jardas capri. I chased them as hard as I could but just got left for dead on the straights.

Finished just behind both but a Cracking end to a frustrating event.  :thumbup1:

Mine too.

First I had disco (actually ctd first one that I can remember) in qually and, when I rejoined, decided not to chase lap time again. Than when you hit that ghost car, I hit you because you suddenly stop in the middle of the corner (probably when you hit that ghost) ... then my H-shifter stabbed me in the back jumping out from 5th gear into neutral on full acceleration and engine gone from 104% to zero in one second ... everything in one single lap.

That was not my day, not at all.

Another one who suffered a CTD in qually, fortunately there was just enough time left to get one timed lap in & get 2nd on the grid.
Made a good start this time, completely bogged it down in the aborted race, but John made a great move around the outside at T1 to grab the lead. Couldn't match John's pace & he eased away into the distance meanwhile I had Legzy's Mustang not too far back for a few laps. Gradually opened the gap to 3rd & looked set for a fairly comfortable run to 2nd place. However Frex, who I think started at the back, moved into 3rd place & started to make inroads into my advantage. Lap by lap the gap came down, luckily the race ended just before I got caught, less than a second in it at the finish  :o. Phew!

Congrats to John & Frex   , cya all at Pembrey.

PS: Why is the Escort that John & I used shown as a TC in the results when it is an RS?

Results and Replay Posted

I also had a hung system during qual, I had wandered off, came back to the PC
and it was hung, so killed PG restarted and joined, after that apart from Tony teleporting around
not sure if it was Tony that was the ghost car, but I had a nudge from an invisible car, and then
a few seconds later I think Tony appeared in front of me and then lost it spinning off onto the grass

After that everything seemed calm, pings looked ok, I don't think anyone discoed.
No idea why it had a big prob during qual.

Yes, that was another disco for me too during qualy. And it looked i was not the only one, as one after another left during qualy?! I am not sure if it was the fault of the server in my case, as it  CTD after i pressed Esc to enter pits/garage.
It happened with 2 min. to go, so after my PC finally recovered from its fatal error i was to late to join in again :(
I was looking forward to the race, as Giuseppe kindly send me his setup, which cut my pb with 2 seconds to a 1.38.8. Thanks dude :thumbup2: I hope i can stay connected for next race.

Some strange goings on again yesterday, but at least we got the race completed this time..

Another CTD in qually here; tried to quickly get a lap done on my rejoin but with the finish line in sight we transitioned over to the race. Saw a frozen Capri on the first lap (probably the one that MJ hit), which i just avoided, only for it to re-appear just ahead a few corners later. It then seemed to take an invisible hit from another car and speared off track again. Weird..

Got past a few cars, chased down and passed Clive, then set about chasing Geoffers. Assumed no chance to catch him, but the Capri clearly has a big advantage with tyre wear over the Escorts. Always thought the RS to be slightly quicker than the Capri, but clearly not the case here as the race went on. Good chase, but Geoffers kept it together nicely and finished just ahead.

Fun race, congrats to John and Geoff.

I had a fun race in the 1971 Escort RS1600. After all of the discos and general messing about in qualifying ;D I ended up P7 on the grid! I was expecting to get hassled by quite a few cars, but surprisingly the ones behind all seemed to recede rather quickly. The one exception was Frex, and he managed to catch and pass me after a handful of laps. I then successfully passed Jarda in another Capri, and tried to keep pace with Frex. Later on there was an "altercation" between Legzy's Mustang and another car. That allowed me to move up to P5 (with Clive not too far ahead at that point). However, Legzy recovered and eventually managed to catch me. He passed me on the main straight at one point, but I managed to outbrake him and pass him back around the outside of the next corner. That was very pleasing ;D Nevertheless, he was close enough to outgun me again on the next straight, and this time he made it stick.

I hung on to Legzy's tail for several laps, as both of us very slowly started to catch Clive's Capri. Then Legzy's tyres got the better of him, and he spun off. Unlucky, mate :( I then concentrated on trying to catch Clive, but he had just enough pace to keep me 3 or 4 seconds behind him until we crossed the finishing line.

I was very pleased to finish P5 in the slower Escort. This was probably helped by others having problems, but I seemed to have reasonably decent pace throughout the race. I was also very consistent, with only one or two "dodgy" moments when I temporarily became a lawnmower. However, even these were only for two or three seconds, so no real damage was done.

Well done to John, Geoffers, and Frex

I somehow missed news that this race was on at all. I found it by accident when going online to download the Preluk track (unfortunately, I will be on a train back from Liverpool when next week's race starts). I decided to give it a go with qualifying about to start but, never having driven the track before, not having an idea about setup or car choice I was massively off the pace and decided to give it a miss rather than risk ruining someone else's race through a stupid mistake.

See you in two weeks' time!

obviously I cannot know this, having disconnected, but people say that they left with only 3 minutes of the session left and I believe (though I may be wrong) that I left earlier than that. Also, I haven't had this before.

Still, I would like to know about any problems at my end so that I can tackle them before the next race!

I don't think it works like that Ed. I know in rF times are remembered when drivers rejoin, but I can't recall that happening in GTR2/PnG or GTL. That's why some drivers leave and rejoin if they want to start at the back.

Autosim Analyser (Alex's unofficial results) remembers your qually time (and position) even if you then ctd and don't set another time. Hence it looks like you started in P2, even though in the actual race you started at the back. Same happened to me.

Btw Ed, how did you grenade your engine after only one lap..?!?  :)

EDIT: Ah, just seen your post which explains it - that's unfortunate..

It would be better to leave the pits in the wrong direction and get a DQ. That would automatically put you at the back of the grid, and wouldn't run the risk of causing disconnection and CTD problems for others.

Maybe that is because you and MJ had time to set another lap after your rejoin, whereas Ed and i did not. I guess if you set another time it overwrites the pre-ctd times, but if you don't it somehow remembers them. Or something..

I just take the logs from the server to create the analysis.

Thanks Alex - I really like the Alpine on this track: slow on the straights but a little bit faster through the corners  :o
Although I made some stupid mistakes and had a stop & go penalty for jump start this was great fun.
I think I was a bit faster 4 weeks ago but lost all setups assembled throughout the last months due to my computer
crashes - would have been better to make a weekly or monthly data saving. Thought data would be safe on a seperate
partition - never seen that system changes drive's names after the Windows boot sector has been destroyed ???
