Not sure which version this is of the couple I have. so I zipped up what I used. Many people will already have this version
if not unzip it to you locations directory.
Haven't had time to do exact fuel yet, so if someone wants to post some fuel consumption time (2x) that would be helpfull
an I will add or drop a lap or two if required.

17 laps doesn't seem very much Matt, does it really take over 4 mins to do a lap?  ???

I will not be racing in this one. In addition to it being an endurance race (which I tend to avoid these days), my brother and his family will also be up for a visit.

Thank you for the server! All we need changed is the fuel usage 2x

I did a test race on the server to practice pit stops, and there is no penalty for speeding on pit lane.

I have a question though. Do we need to obey the white lines for pit entrance? Or can we take the last corner at full speed and dart in the pits at the last moment?

Thanks, WC

Fuel sorted.
Not sure about the white line. Can't remember exactly what it looks like.
there is a tight right just before the pit entrance, I think you can probably get into the pits
anyway you like, too slow and you might impede others, too fast and you might get speared on
the barriers. I will check it out

EDIT: drive wherever you want with the white lines for pit entry, if you go slow enough to stay
within them you are just as likely to get in the way as not.

As a result, I still don't know what to drive!   :taz:

The Pantera and the Shelby Cobra Coupe were the slowest cars (for me). Therefore, I gladly recommend either of them for the SBRC.  ;D

I see everyone is being a bit coy about their actual times again ;)

This is in fact a different layout to the one we raced in 2009 in V2.1, so the lap records have little relevance. How do I remember you might ask? Well it was my first ever win and I therefore have a vivid recollection of the race, especially struggling to keep a certain Mr. Gymer behind me for most of it  ;D

A lot of tracks in P&G don't recognise limiters or speed limits.

Well shunted off & spun round by Frex before we even reach the braking zone for Lap one turn one, that's got to be some kind of (undesirable) record.
I tried to get going again despite losing 20 secs turning, but now had suspension damage & just couldn't control the back end.
Lost it at the top of the hill chicane on about lap 3 & quit in disgust.

Thanks for waiting.

Waste of an evening.

Disaster in the pits for me. I entered pits a the end of lap 16 while holding 7th place. But someone was already in the pit behind mine, and I couldn't position my car to start a pit sequence no matter what. So I went around another lap, stopped ok this time, and after setting options, pressed escape instead of enter. Race over.

Thanks for waiting.

My apologies - If i had known what i had done then of course i would have waited.

Unfortunately all cars disappeared on the run to the first corner. As i started right at the back of the grid I backed off and fumbled around with the +/- keys to try and get them back. A few cars did re-appear but i didn't see any that i might have made contact with, so thought i'd got away with it. Unfortunately my replay is borked and starts just before T1 with me as the only car on track, so quite possibly i may have had contact with other cars also. My apologies if so.

And also to Syd - several times i got close to you and you disappeared, so i thought it safest to back off to avoid any chance of contact. You probably wondered what on earth i was doing..

In hindsight of course the only safe action would have been to esc out of the race at the first sign of trouble; apologies that i did not. Hate night races anyway..

Luck was on my side tonight, as I was able keep up with Clive and Jarda. I am usually much farther down the grid. The beginning of the race was lots of fun with Nik in front of our pack, followed by Clive, Geoffers, myself and Jarda. Geoffers passed Clive and then went on to race Nik. I was following Clive, and defending against Jarda. The pressure was too much, and I spun out in the first turn. I lost 8 or 9 seconds, but at least I had a clear track in front of me. I caught Clive right before his pit stop, and I went a lap further. I came out just ahead of Clive and just behind Jarda. Jarda and I went on to have a great battle. I had to really work hard just to get past him, and then he was able to pass me back in the next lap! I was a bit disappointed and relieved when Jarda lost control in the Bus Stop. I made a mistake of my own later with two laps to go, and he almost caught up. Good Race!

My tyre strategy came straight out of the McLaren book of a 1000 ways to sod up a race!

It is always bad news for me when there is a Porsche in the mix, just can't pedal the things fast enough but neither can Matt, so they are usually the car to be in!

Congratulations to Tudor, Giuseppe and John; and to Walter and Jarda for that matter, they had better pace than I did.

If it were not for the team points I would knock these endurance races on the head; especially when some nutter decides to make it a night race!  I hadn't even realised that it was going to be dark.  Must read the small print in future.

Yep, the fact it was a night race had also escaped my attention  :o

The biggest shock for me though was the tyre wear  ??? Are you sure it was set to normal Matt? I'd done some testing offline, but it was way off in race.

My main concern was getting off the line cleanly and getting to the top chicane with John still behind me, which I managed to do. I then set about chasing Giuseppe, but became concerned about my tyres and started thinking about my pitstop and messing with xd which blew my concentration. I spun on the exit of the penultimate turn allowing John through  :wetfish:

I spent the next few laps trying to work out where I might squeeze past, but John was always careful where he needed to be and I had to sit behind him losing more time to Giuseppe.

Giuseppe pitted dropping him back to 3rd and eventually John pitted which left me with a few laps of clear track to try to claw back some time, but my tyres were shot by this time. Fortunately I had an uneventful pitstop and was able to exit behind Giuseppe, but crucially right in front of John. To my surprise, Giuseppe then took another stop and I was left with an easy drive to the line.

An interesting and entertaining race made even better by John's car choice  ;)

Bit of a frustrating one, but still a good result considering the circumstances.

I couldn't decide whether to go with medium tyres and spend an extra 30+ seconds in the pits, or to use hards which were nearly a second a lap slower but wouldn't have to change them. In the end I went with hards on the basis that I'd rather be in front with a slower car than trying to catch up from 30 seconds behind with rubber that would still be worn at the end of the race.

Hoped to be able to out-drag the Porsches at the start but didn't get off the line very well and couldn't quite pip Goldtop to the chicane. After that I had to be content with watching them slowly get away until Goldtop spun and I held him up for the rest of the stint ;D

I was aiming to do that again in the second half, but clipped a barrier trying to pass Fulvio before he pitted. I should have been more patient -  I lost a few seconds and picked up suspension damage for my trouble as well. Because of that, I saw Goldtop come out of the pits a couple of seconds in front of me and there was no chance I could catch him from there :(

Did the Porsche drivers take tyres? If so then they managed fuel & tyres in the same time it took me to just refuel :o

One thing I've learnt is that the 275 Speciale is not an ideal endurance choice. The range of tyres available is good, but the engine is very fragile. I started out with 100% health and was giving it the beans for most of the race, but had to ease of considerably for the last few laps to save the engine. I think I crossed the line with 2% left, according to XD. Which is a shame, as if it wasn't for that I might have been able to give Giuseppe a proper race near the end. I was trying to save a few per cent of engine health for when he caught me, but he was able to drive right around the outside anyway and I spun shortly after, trying to catch him on the next straight.

Grats to Goldtop and Giuseppe :thumbup1:

I carried a fuel offset meaning I'd have less fuel to pump when I pitted. I also started on the hardest tyre choice which according to my pre-race calculations should have lasted all race, but I had to rethink that (much scratching of head and tutting) and take soft tyres for my shorter last stint.

My rule #1 for endurance races....spend as little time in the pits as possible  :)

no problem Geoffers,

The Porsche is really good on corner exit, you can get on the power really early in the corner. I had a late entry into the corner, aiming to cut inside on the exit, unfortuately I was a bit too quick on the power & got a bit of understeer & before I knew it I had run into your right rear corner. Bad mistake.  ::)

Congrats to GT, Giuseppe & John.  :thumbup1:

I thought that all of the endurance races were at night. I assumed that it helped with tire wear in the heavier cars.

I really wanted to drive a heavier car, but I just could not justify the trade-off this time.

I changed tires in my pit stop, but I did not experience any noticeable tire wear.

The Porsche has a smaller gas tank. So we could refuel faster.

Thanks to all for the race,

Walter

Tyre wear was normal, I warned people in Prac that the front tyre wear would getcha in the 914, it was faster but suffered front wear
the 275 Spec is a nice car for this, as John says engine is fragile if over revved, I always run a higher gearing than ideal
but then I am not as fast as John with any gearing...

@Walter: The endurance events are not always at night, just I like the look of the tracks at dusk, I think it adds atmosphere
oh, and it hacks CLive off so there is always that  :P

I thought as much.  It was pitch black by the finish and I think my headlights needed aiming further up the road.

In daylight in Victoria Park on Sunday if you are out for a stroll.  Lots of new go-faster goodies to help give Simon a kicking!

CHortle. GIve SImon a good beating. 3 sisters for "real" racin Sunday here.
I would like to start the races an hour earlier to get the proper effect, but if I start at 18:00 you get blinded by low sun.
Maybe it's just my display settings, but I don't "need" lights at all, the track - particularly at the Glen is quite well lit
at dusk anyway.

Anyone know an "Alex Tancio" ? IS he real? or is he Memorex?
