Title: UKGPL Season 25 (2013) Formula 2 Trophy - Goodwood - Sep 15
Post by: Billy Nobrakes on September 10, 2013, 11:56:30 PM +0100
CHANGE OF PLAN
As half the moderating team &  a few others will be at the Goodwood Revival this weekend the Formula 2 championship race at Zandvoort will be replaced by a non-championship (fun) race at Goodwood – so you can join us virtually.

I hope this doesn’t disrupt your plans too much – but Goodwood is a great circuit to race on.  We will run Zandvoort at the end of the season.
As it’s a fun (non-moderated) event unlimited resets are allowed and you are not required to take a Stop & Go. Also there is a free choice of chassis.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL8
Race date = Sunday 15-09-2013
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track =  Goodwood  (http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=7173#entry65855)
Race length = Intermediate long
Variant = 1967 Formula 2
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qualifying time =30 minutes

As grid spots are going to be available, can I sneak a password, and trundle around at the rear?

You don't need me to say it - but have a great time!
[looks as though Saturday may just be cloudy;  so maybe you won't all be sodden before Sunday...]

If anybody wants to meet up;  I'll initially be near the start line;  in a LOLa.

Got a screen freeze in qually & again in the race (what there was of it!).  Not sure if I was about to hit the back of Rog or not;  apologies if that was the case.  Didn't happen on my frozen screen though...

Shame - looking at past history,  looks as though I've had 2 other F2 races here back in s22 fun guise.  No screen freeze/cisco for me,  but were warnings at the time,  with suggestion that turning graphics details down may make a difference here (?).

Hardly worth climbing into the 'racing' socks though.
Cheers anyway.

Dave.

even I got freeze in q. we were three finishers and I was obviously the only of us who did some practice so it was more hotlapping than racing. Always nice to log a golden 1 in the stats though
I think it s couple yrs since my last freeze so lets blacklist this track unless it was a server issue.

Track is blacklisted already. We can't use it for serious races but it was nice to drive it after being there...

Big thanks to Cookie for hosting.

For what it's worth, I found myself passing Silverstone, the week before Goodwood, during one of those strange non-rainy days imported from the continent. There was a race meeting under way, so I was doubly lucky, and stopped to watch.  It was the first action I've seen there firsthand, since the GP of '89!  :o

Unlike Goodwood, I recognized almost nothing.  It's become a baron landscape of gravel, concrete and catch fencing, without much regard for spectator viewing.  Cars are  not very loud, or very sideways, and were not very close by.

I continued home, without watching the last race.  I do believe a rainy day with Goodwood Historics, beats modern racing with full Sunshine. 8)

You bet it does!!!  Watching the Minis compete with Ford Galaxies on a damp Goodwood track is REAL motor racing!!!
