Looks like it had been, and still was, but was not in the lobby.
the GTR2 one had also dissapeared, so I restarted everything, well not the whole world
yesterday, and I could then join.

bit quiet around here, nobody racing this week?  ???  must confess I haven't turned a single lap and am only now downloading the track (don't even know it) in time for tomorrow. RL's been getting in the way of fun. :(

:)  I'll be giving it a try but have to say I'm finding it quite a difficult combo, lots of bumps and a hard car to keep on track.  I anticipate fun on the first corner.

Must be my "shopping trip" driving style, I seem to remember that I picked this particular snake because it was
not too hard. BUt then anything is challenging at the Bridge.

I think it's a great combo Matt.

Don't suppose I have any better chance of finishing the race than anyone else does but there was no fear of nodding off whilst practising.

Must be a challenge as I found both Legzy and MJ on-line last night!!!!

great sketch Stig  :) though this one cracks me up:-  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imhrDrE4-mI  ;D

I think this track and car combo suit each other,  you could easily picture yourself driving an open top cobra through the desert dunes with a pair of goggles, old style helmet and oily dusty face  :)  Sadly I just wasn't in the mood for it last night, just wanted to see the track before tonights race and do a few recon laps but never got up to speed nor hardly a clean lap  :-[ was as surprised as Clive to see Legz and a handful of Italians on the praccy server. Nice to see, its been an empty place for a long time.

crumbs I don't remember this circuit at all Legz, so amazed to see I hold the qual and race lap record for it in an E-type  :o ..was I the only one racing that night?    (edit, hang on, I don't hold the lap records for it!...those stats are wrong!) go look at the results...edit again...ah, its a car group record! I obviously took a favoured car that wasn't the natural race winner like some of you greedy points grabbers...looking at you Clive  ;)

Also odd how some events attract loads of posts and others next to none  :-\ hence why I asked if anyone was racing last night!

Good evening,
a question for the staff: I’ll not race this evening, is it possible to race for an other T7 member? He will start in the last grid position and He will be careful during the lapping, I’ll be here to supervise during the race because eventually He’ll race with my computer.

Many thanks in advance for your reply.
Bye
Otto

Was not looking forward to this one, but after a few laps online last night I began to enjoy it. The absence of any big braking moments makes it a great track for these cars. I noticed we have a few different ways of getting through these fast bends, so might be worth a bit of extra care to avoid mid corner incidents. T1 especially could prove to be very expensive  :o

Made a couple of mistakes losing a few places, but then got on the sand and was over the dunes and landed on the other side of the track. Stop/go and more crucially a one lap penalty to add to my woes  ::) Chased back and unlapped myself from a few drivers, but then did the same thing again  :-[ Hit esc mid air this time in case I landed on someone.

Did I say I liked this combo? I was lying  :D

Oh Dear,

I thought that I had left 3rd place in your capable hands when I messed it up, for the second time, a couple of laps earlier.

Just when I thought that we were going to max the points!   :taz:

Yep, me too. Fun battle Ivan - you were close behind me for many laps, but I was annoyed with my silly trip over the dunes which let you (and a lot of others) past  ::)

Running out of fuel makes it all academic anyway, but I'm just glad to have a trouble-free qually and race - I think I've gone a long way to solving my continual pc freezes, although I did have a crash when the track reloaded at the end. I'm hoping that was one of the GTR2 bugs though..

Congrats podium.

That was a fun, if a little bit frustrating, race :) Big challenge getting the Cobra round here, but very rewarding when it goes right.
Inherited the lead briefly when Donato went wide at the last corner, but it didn't last long as I did the same myself after a couple of laps! Spent the rest of the race trying to catch up, but each time I did I'd either make a mistake or Donato would put in a quick lap to keep me at arms length. Still, pleased with second considering the company :)

Grats Donato & welcome to the new guys :thumbup1:

I had a slow and safe start. Then I pushed like hell.  :D I probably should not have tried to go three wide with Syd and Jarda, but it was thrilling for me. Sorry if that move was a bit aggressive. I had a decent race until I made a few mistakes in the closing laps. I lost one position to Animal Ed, but I made up a few spots when others had bad luck.

I was happy to see my WSL Racing teammate Mogget finish 4th  8). Overall, I enjoyed the car + track combo, and I was glad to see the good turnout.

Grats to you! It was tough.....

You was little bit faster than me (1-2 tens), i was on a little conservative strategy with my car to avoid extreme tyres consumption, trying to drive clean and smoothly....... You made me sweat!
I did some little mistakes, but fortunatly u did too! :D

Wow! I can't wait to the next race!

See u!

That was a fun but tricky race. Really surprised (& a bit lucky) to finish 3rd at the end.

Got a great start & jumped from 8th to 5th by T1 just behind an even better starting Frex. Nabbed 4th when Frex went wide at the Light Bulb Turn but when we got to the S/F straight I discovered my setup was pants for straight line speed & I lost 4 places!  ::)
Then followed several great laps in a fantastic multi-car battle until one by one my opponents decided to go sightseeing in the dunes. Eventually ended up in 6th place chasing Frex, Ivan & Clive. Frex went off followed a few laps later by Clive & Ivan ran out of fuel on lap 22, so as I say I rather lucked into 3rd at the finish.  ;D

Congrats to Donato & John

@Vittorio. please could you add your country to your profile so you get an nice flag next to your name  ;D

Albert is in as a guest driver for the moment. If he decides to run with us regularly, then it would be
helpful if he entered events as himself. Once or twice is fine, no worries, but for the championship points
you need to be your own name.

Post by: Mogget on October 25, 2013, 11:23:55 AM +0100
The track was a bit bumpy, but I slowly started to get the hang of it during practice and qualifying last night. No lights resulted in a pathetic start, and I was down to P12 through T1. Unfortunately, my attempts to avoid colliding with the cars in front of me resulted in one or two jostles from behind, and I ended up spinning off. That left me down in P24, with a lot of hard work to do!

Thankfully, that "hard work" proved to be extremely enjoyable. I worked my way up through the pack (partly due to impressive overtaking skills 8) and partly because other drivers decided to make a temporary switch from Cobra to Dune Buggy ;D). I suspected that there would be quite a few off road "excursions" in this race, so I tried to be as consistent and quick as possible without being daft. That worked a treat for me, and I moved all the way up to P4 by the time that I crossed the finishing line.

The low fuel warning light was flashing for the final two laps, so I ended up cruising around in 4th gear at the end. I had no idea if the fuel estimate was accurate at the start of the race, so I added 65L to the tank, which was calculated to be sufficient for 28 laps. However, it wouldn't have been!

Post by: phspok on October 25, 2013, 11:34:32 AM +0100
The start lights fooled me too, I usually do a practice start to check the lights etc, I didn't test this one as I have
been away a lot, and I plain forgot. I tend to use the timing display and go when the numbers start rolling.

The fuel caught a few people out. I ran 75 litres, which was over the top, XD said 3.05 ltrs per lap at my pace.
so that would have been 71 litres.

I started near the back of the grid and let those behind me get past as I thought that the first corner would be carnage but I was wrong, well done Drivers.

So I set off to find the only concrete structure around the entire site that would kill my car if I hit it side on. I was 100% successful  ::)

not sure I enjoyed that as a racing experience last night. The Cobra over bumps and unforgiving sand dunes and edges was too much of a blunt instrument in my hands. I hate understeering cars!  :(   Kudos to those who were seriously hussling their cobras along up front 8)

Had a crap start due to being mid field and no lights to see at all, so got engulfed by about 7 cars  ::)  then overtook a handful of cars down to about T3 or 4 only to get offline on cold tyres, run wide up onto the dunes and watch the whole grid go past  :wetfish: so was right at the back. This seems to be happening to me in every race lately  :'(
Like Mogget, I had best fun of the race catching and passing a lot of cars on my way back up the grid. I eventually reached 11th and was going to be fairly content with that under the circumstances. However with about two laps to go I moved wide to let the leader past and frustratingly got off on the damn sand. I was so flustered and annoyed with myself that I then made two further trips to the dunes on the last two laps throwing away 2-3 places to cars that were 20+ secs behind me....grrrr. :hang:

so one to quietly forget for me.

Oh dear, I had some serious race pace and then blew it!  Good event though, better than the bland roller skate races.

I feel that I should apologise to both Erik and John for wasting all of their good tutoring and setups.  I had managed a 1:42.9 whilst chasing Erik's TT lap before the race!

Qually was good, with John on 2nd, Ivan 3rd and me 4th.  I got a good start and was getting comfortable in 3rd spot when I just ran a tad wide at the Spoon and was off across the sand.

That dropped me back a few spots but I was able to recover to 4th, following Ivan.  That included passing Geoffers, which did cheer me up at the time! ;-)

I was happy to follow Ivan home but had Geoffers a couple of seconds behind me so couldn't ease off too much.  But it's the sort of circuit where you need 110% concentration all of the time and because I wasn't really racing anyone I went and messed up T3.  That put me back to 8th but I wasn't too upset as I knew that I had left Ivan in a strong 3rd.

Imagine my surprise to find that Ivan hadn't made it to the finish!

We still took ten points away from the Kerbies but it could have been even better!   ::)

PS  Hard luck Ivan.

I know that Clive. Thing is a bit of friendly team rivalry spices things up and is healthy for the racing here. If everyone joins the same few teams it takes that away imo. Personally I'd like to see more teams on the grid.

Amen to that GT  :). Sadly I'm getting to the point where I feel I may need to leave my beloved Legends to join a 'team' as I'm fed up being a lonely Charlie on the grid  :-\. Would hate to give up the superb classic Gulf colours but doesn't really apply to p&g.
So....should I join another crew? Anyone even want an enthusiastic retro racer that needs a polish up to improve from top 10 to top 5?

Who can I send my cv too?  :cowboy:

Would be a real shame to not see the Leg-ends on the grid MJ, being one of the original teams here (as are the kerbies  ;)). Why don't you recruit some new members, or even poach a couple from other over represented teams (notice I didn't mention any names there  :D). With the current season/year drawing to a close, the market must be ripe for some driver changes  :)

Know what your saying GT and yes it would be a shame to lose the long standing Legends as a team  :( but with me as a solo racer these days and nowt to offer in terms of website and setups (other than my own), there's not much to offer any new driver. We still have a website but neither I nor Truetom go on it anymore as the other legends are just into Iracing. Sad but true  :-[

Same for me MJ, Pseudo is one of the original teams, My Teamies are all GTR2 folk these days. Phil Gil doesn't do PG
and hasn't done GTK for ages. We could form a new team "Phoenix" rising from the ashes  8)

Well gents, as I have said before, there is only one proper team and we seem to be active in GTL and GPL as well as our main focus on UKPnG!

You are both welcome to join our apprentice scheme but I too think that more teams would be better.
With Team7 turning their attention to UKPnG, SBRC are now investigation the possibility of recruiting a team of aliens to give John a bit of support at the front of the grid!

@ Matt, a series with some shorter races might help my recruitment efforts.  ::)

Maybe all you lone survivors could amalgamate into one new team with a name that encompasses your individual past teams?

Psuedo Legends?

I was going to say the same thing, but the Phoenix is kind of catchy. Also, it was nice to see four different teams finish in the top five at Bridgehampton. So there is lots of competition out there, but you can never have too much.  ;)

Everyone knows that the WSL Racing Team is the best team, so this is all irrelevant waffle ;D

Ah well, these things can't be helped Bob.

Hope Mogget's set-ups don't set you back too far.   ;D

MJ there were 5 drivers in this race without a team, even if you're not sharing a setup or anything, racing under a team banner soon breeds a bit of team loyalty/pride/co-operation. If you have a bit of a fair fight with one of them or just see some considerate driving... see if they fancy joining the Leg-ends (so they too can be beaten by us Oldies :-*)

Phil Gill doesn't do PG and hasn't done GTL for ages. We could form a new team "Phoenix" rising from the ashes  8))

Actually I would do either if I had the time. As it is, the only thing I've got time for these days is popping in here now and then to catch up with what's going on and, with a sigh, hoping I'll be able to rejoin soon.

Well that shut me up  ;D

Must be all those mountains to climb  :whistling:

Ah well, maybe you will get in for the odd event. This PG thing has become quite good now.
and we are getting some decent size grids at the moment.
