UKGPL Season 25 - Pro Trophy - Race 5 - Zandvoort 

The circuit was inaugurated on August 7, 1948 and has been through several changes but unlike many of the popular 1960s tracks it has continued to be used for top flight racing and is in regular use today but not for Formula 1.  The last Formula 1 race a Zandvoort was held in 1985 and was won by Niki Lauda ahead of Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna.  The 1967 Formula 1 Grand Prix saw the debut of the Ford Cosworth DFV engine, in Jim Clark and Graham Hill's Lotuses.  Jim Clark went on to win the race and post the fastest lap after Graham Hill retired with engine problems after starting the race from pole position.

As the senior division with the best drivers, drivers have a free chassis choice.
Once a chassis is selected, a driver should stay in that chassis for ALL races.
There will be no other handicapping for this series.

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race.
Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.
Full time drivers have priority access to the server until 21.00 UK time.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Well, this is slightly annoying. Favourite track by a long way, and I'm out of town on business so can't join the race in time. Have a good'un, and Hugenholtzbocht is not very far to do a red zone (about 15-20 seconds), so would suggest Hondenvlak (about halfway round the course).

Big apologies that I haven't got the moderations done. My PC keeps crashing during replays but I have re-installed and all seems stable. I'll get it done by the weekend.

Really enjoyed this at one of my favourite tracks. Drove totally defensively for the first 12 laps, although it seemed like 24 ;D, with Andy & Goran never more than 1 second behind. I was holding 5th place but in the end Goran passed. Followed him for a lap or two then my screen went blank. The dreaded disco :(

Great race for me and others I hope.

In qualifying I struggled to get down below 1.28 until a lucky tow helped me out. This turned out to be good enough for pole and from there I did bot look back. That's a lie, during the race I looked back a lot and every time I did, I saw Tristan large in my mirrors with Dean not far behind. I pushed as hard as I dared every lap but a small mistake on the second to last lap had Tristan breathing right down my neck again. Fortunately I just managed to hang on to cross the line a whisker ahead. It definitely was closer than I wanted it to be.
