Looks like the link to the track download is for the previous track?
[although I'm sure we could find it out there if we try hard enough!]

Cheers,
Dave.

I've seen and driven most of GPL's tracks over the years, but this one is new to me.  It all looks like something out of a mirage, but it doesn't feel like a mirage, when you hit one of the numerous objectionable trackside objects.  :hammer:

I will (try to) launch a test race tonight (Monday).

Why don't you talk to your wife in the same time you walk the dog ? so you will earn 30 minutes or more, for you that should be enough to learn this track.

lol I took your advice and did some multi tasking...talked to the dog and walked my wife. ;)

So, I found time to download track and install...great!

Tried just a few laps offline and it seemed a nice track with some interesting features.....some features are VERY HARD!!

Then I spotted that there was a T7 server up for practice......great. Always good to practice against real people and not the AI.

BUT, when I try and join T7 it says " cannot join server track not installed"....................oh yes it is!!!

Track is definitely installed and working. The season file in GEM shows it at the top of the 66 season list!

Anyone have any ideas????

BUT, when I try and join T7 it says " cannot join server track not installed"......

Very strange  ???

We could connect, Martin, Dean, Glen and me, without issue.

Are you sure you loaded the good track ?

I have just restarted the T7 for 45 minutes.

I downloaded the track from the link above.

It works perfectly offline. I have deleted and re-installed the track and still cannot join T7??  :-\

Have you got the 60fps option selected?  That can sometimes be the problem.

is your track folder = lmarques ?

I found that on the SRMZ forum :

Sometimes IGOR will give you an error message that you do not have a track loaded when, if fact, you do.  This is a known bug with IGOR and the workaround is to connect directly to the server using the server's IP address after starting GPL.

Yup!!! track folder is correct and  just  joined directly from IP  David and it works OK.

Igor still shows "track not loaded" message??  :-\ hmmm?? why do computers and software have to have "bugs"

I have heard it said, that bugs will someday inherit the earth.  I always have to go the IP route, to get online with the 66 Mod.   :(

Looking forward to 'learning' this tomorrow (or maybe a quick shot a bit later tonight if that large steak wears off a bit!)

At least the setup work is done;  just a case of picking a car :)

Sadly, the Chaparral doesn't seem to work here, so I'd recommend whichever bounces the best. ;)

Managed a few laps on the server after I found my way there via IP last night and at least began to get a feel for this new ( for me) track.

Definitely a track that has to be treated with respect lol! some poles and trees that seem to be positioned just right to rip a wheel off should you run even fractionally wide.  :o
Gradually, I was finding the groove but not sure that the Baby Brab is the ideal car for this track. That loooong straight gives the bigger engines a huge advantage for about 50% of the lap....might have to think about it tonight  :-\

For THIS RACE, 2 liters car must be selected

As there is no real leaders in this championship, there will be no restriction :

Interesting, unexpected, mid-Season tampering with the handicapping?  There are clear championship leaders, acording to the points table.  Using a crystal ball to predict the future, and fiddling with the handicap mid-Season, or deciding to suddenly remove the handicap, is not helpful to those who take results seriously.  It seems to me, the one has led to the other.

Was it an admin override? Was i in the wrong car? BT11 BRM 2l

Anyway, sorry chaps! Was prepared for this one but it was not to be! No worries, onwards and upwards!

Hopefully see you guys at the next meeting. Hope you had a good race! :)

Grrr, after all my few laps late last night & the practice event just before the race [I even adjusted top gear on a lucky-looking Brands setup] ran a bit wide on the 2nd lap on the corner just before the coastal road.

Was ok the fact that I ran a family over,  but hitting the pot-plant behind them did for me.

Meh.  Maybe it was a bad thing to have donned a Brabham shirt [available on ebay for approx £5;  double for the matching fleece!]  & then plumped for Ferrari in the practice.

Pity, there's now a hole in the evening.  Soon be a hole in the fridge contents too...

Cheers,
Dave.

T7 crashing wasn't great but got the server restarted and set about crashing myself. Easy to slide wide and just 'tap' one of the spiky plants which make you car explode. Was running quite nicely when I took a wide line so that I didn't get in Clive's way as he was about to lap me, got a wheel on the grass and the 'Plantus Spikius Bastardus' did the rest :(

Not sure if I like the track or not. Fairly fun to drive solo but tough for racing...

Managed to make second time on Q. Bad start but good first laps went to  3rd position then removed the gap between me and the first two but then someone passed me. After several lap he  spinned and crashed into me. I think  there was nothing for him or me to do avoiding the crash.Anyway it was great chase.

Having a great battle up front for a change when Tristan spun at T1 with about 4 laps to go.  I tried to slow down but I clipped his car and I got flipped over.  Tristan could continue, hopefully undamaged, but I was out.  Really disappointed, I was reasonably competitive for a change and didn't deserve such bad luck :(

Tris was warping really badly as well Martin so from my POV you both instantaneously appeared at the same point at the same time. Unlucky.

I was feeling quite comfortable with my potential pole position and then...blackness???
it took me a while to register that the server had crashed in qually, then I had to fire up the VROC chatroom  ( Igor chat still not working for me!). Only to discover that everyone was about to leap back onto a rebooted server with just a few mins to re-qually.
By the time I had rejoined via IP I had time for only a single lap which dropped me to about 5th place on the grid. But I knew I was fast enough to live with the quick guys at the front and it was 38 laps, so plenty of time to try and improve.

The early laps presented me with an opportunity to gain a place or two and I was running in a queue of cars occupying the first 5 places.
A couple of mishaps and some brave ( maybe foolhardy?) braking squeezed me up to 2nd spot over the next few laps.

Phil and his 2.7 Brabham were going really well up front and my fears about the speed on the straight were confirmed as he stretched away on each lap and I had to work hard to make up the deficit through the twisty bits.
Once I got into his slipstream things got a little easier and I allowed him to tow me away from Ivan who was in 3rd spot. I think Ivan had an "off" and suddenly there was clear track behind so that I was able to concentrate on Phil. A few laps watching carefully where I made up ground and lost it gave me some worries.
I was definitely quicker through that long T1 onto the straight, but Phil simply outgunned me and cruised past again with the aid of the tow....I tried it a couple of times but could not make it stick.....rats!!!   ???   plan "B" required!!
It was a great dice and it took a good few laps to spot another opportunity to attempt a pass. I had got myself into Phil's slipstream at the start of the straight, my 6th gear allowed me to stay with him and feint down the inside in the braking zone. Phil stayed slighty wide and his exit from T2 was slightly compromised. I saw my chance and took a tight line scrabbling for all the grip I good get to get alongside and claim the inside line for the first of the esses. I thought for a moment that the extra grunt that Phil had would get him there first, but I just made it and hugged the inside line for the first right hander  and took a wide line on the left as I still could not see him in my mirrors. In fact it was not until we had gone through yet another corner that I glimpsed his car in the mirror and knew that I could take the racing line again!!!!

I risked everything through T1 just to try and get a safety margin for the straight where Phil's power might drag him past again. I just held on and pushed 100% over the next 3-4 laps just to get clear...jeez that was hard Phil!!
I could not relax as Phil and Tristan were having their own battle for 2nd-3rd that meant their pace was very quick, but somehow I crept further and further ahead until.................
At about 2/3rds distance I simply forgot how to drive the car, where the braking points were and which line I should take!! I was losing 2 secs a lap!!! Phil and Tris were closing fast!! I thought I might just have enough cushion to get to the flag until I ran straight off the track at the end of the straight and watched as Tristan and Phil swept past.
I am afraid that the red mist descended then and I drove my socks off to get back on Phil's tail, who had in turn closed up on Tristan. With 6 laps to go the end of the race looked like being VERY interesting. Could I get past Phil again, and how the heck was I going to work a pass on Tristan, and all in 6 laps!!!
Well... I have to say that I honestly felt sorry for Phil when he tangled with Tristan in T1 :(.  It seems that Tris had run low on fuel and had slowed Phil was committed to the corner and could not avoid him...bad luck Phil.
I was able to ease off and pull a tight line to sweep past into the lead again. By the end of the next lap it was obvious that all I had to do was cruise to the flag as Tristan was crawling and there was no other threat unless I made a huge dumb mistake ( with my record that was not totally out of the question!!). But I was OK and thankful for a good slice of luck to take the top step of the podium.
Grats to the finishers and commiserations again to Phil who worked hard and got little reward.

As an aside from the race but kind of relevant to this circuit.

This was the first time that I have ever been unable to join a 66 race through Igor. I had installed the track, made sure that it was in my 66 season.ini folder and tried offline where everything worked fine.

Then I tried to join the practice server on Igor, but when I clicked on T7 I was informed that I could not join because I did not have that circuit installed??
Strangely , although I knew that I had that track installed and working, I checked back to the 66 season.ini file.... :o . Only to find that the Lourenco Marques entry was now labelled as "not available" but it had been working fine 5 minutes earlier.???
It was as if by clicking on the server link in IGOR it had somehow removed/corrupted the circuit from the season list??

If I quit an offline session and joined the server via IP address everything was fine, which is what I did for the race.

I have never experienced this sort of prob before and would be interested to know if anyone has any explanation??  :-\

Sorry for your PC crash. But better for me you crash with your PC then with me.  :)

The race itself was going like ok. Cause the Frontrunners get out I came a little bit to the front myself in case of Place. But I even get lapped and on this track was no Marshall to be seen.  ???
Hope therefore I stood not too long in the way of someone else.
Congratulations to the Podium.
So long
Andreas

I never knew it happened to all. Not getting much progress in this champ on account of life and tech issues getting in the way. Oh well, all goes in the bag of experience. :)

in such a case, you should immediately connect to the ukgpl chatroom (with igor).
