Groups result tables (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=421&theme=34)

Qualification: The qualifying session will feature the Super Pole format where each driver will be allowed one out lap followed by one hot lap to set a time. Drivers should press "ESC" once past the start/finish line, at the end of their hot lap, to return to the garage. Any driver who attempts to do a second hot lap will be disqualified. If you fail to set a time you will be placed at the back of the grid.

Reserving your Garage: Twenty Five garages are available for this race. To reserve your garage please pm Wiltshire Tony. Reservation requests will be dealt with on a strictly first come, first served basis. Reservation requests may be made from 00:01am, December 1st, 2013 onwards. Reservation requests received before this date will be ignored. Successfull applicants will receive a confirmation pm, including the race password, and their name will be added to the Garage reserved list (see below). Applications close date is Midday, Monday 30th December.

If drivers could indicate which Group they plan to compete in, when they apply, it would be appreciated.

If you have reserved a garage but subsequently find that you will not be able to race please pm Wiltshire Tony so that the garage may be made available to someone else.

A list of reserved Garages is available here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuS59xI7-YTLdGktc3pnTF9aUURHbVptdWlHZE8wNGc&usp=sharing)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v3 from:  here (http://gtlw-blog.flyingpig.info/)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.
(6) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Sounds great Tony. I like the multiclass concept  8)

Should be a nice mix of grunt vs handling and you can guess what I'll be choosing  ;)

Any way to see the reserved pits without a google account?

Do I take it that only one person can select any particular PnG car?

Give me time to check out your first question Clive.

No, anyone can take any car, even if everyone chooses the same.

Sounds great Tony. I like the multiclass concept  8)

Any chance we could have a 3rd class for upto 2-litre cars, Alfas, Escorts, 914s etc?

I quite fancy taking an Escort but if everyone else is in big stuff there isn't much point.

That will involve some re-classification in our system which is do-able but it's whether Dave has the time. I can but ask and see if we get a favourable reaction or not. I'll get back to you.

You may have noticed that the recent Snetterton results now show the 70's group cars in over and under 2 litre categories. We therefore hope to announce a revised championship list soon.

It would be neat if every group had a good compliment of entrant's.

Perhaps entrant's could indicate which Group they plan to compete in when they apply for a Garage?

I will pass this information on, in the Garage list.

I don't want to limit the number off entries to any group but if one seems to becoming to top heavy I may rethink this.

Have actually done some laps in the BMW 3.5 on the default setup.

I think that 3:42.xxx was the best so far but quite a handful for 2.4 hrs.

Can't match Stig's Vette on the straights but we will probably both be in the trees before we get that far!   ::)

I've plumbed for the Zakspeed Escort for this. Currently managing low-mid 3.58's, but no idea how that compares, anyone else been testing it?

Mid-55s but it was a horrible ride.  Setup needs some serious work.

There are some decent cars in the mix but the track doesn't like any of them.   :-\

I was gonna grab the Alfa 2000, but only because I had forgotten all about that lightning fast Zackspeed Escort. No other 2 liter GR 2 car can keep up with that beast  ;D

The BMW 24v will probably be my choice, 'cause I find a bit easier to keep on the tarmac than the Capri.

After playing around with the setup a bit I have just managed a 3:54:4, which I'm fairly pleased with. God knows where Geoffers is finding that 4 secs from, I was pretty much on the limit of the setup/ my skill level lol.

Was that 3:50 using paddles or stick shift?

Title: Re: UKPnG Season 8 Solitude - Solitude - Dec 30
Post by: Animal Ed on December 22, 2013, 06:22:37 PM +0000
3:51 with med tires and full fuel tank ... in second timed lap. Next lap I was 0,9sec down on my time but lost concentration and went off before second split ... H shifter, heel and toe all the way.

Must admit that this car was my first choice and i have good enough setup (only refinement needed) than i change my mind and decide to have fun with 911 ...

That was with paddles, but I doubt it makes much difference around here as you don't need to change gear that much.

Hello guys, I've done some testing with 911 and BMWimsa.
With the Porsche managed to do 3:40 on race and qualifying only 1 sec faster.
I think the BMW is competitive like the Capri, the Capri but consumes twice as much fuel.
However, my best time with BMW (soft tires and 30 Lt) 3.32.0 but in the race whit full tank and medium tires, turns around 3.40.  :punk:
To the pit I think will make 2 stops, with only one has the edge with gasoline and tires.
I take this opportunity to send a Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you and your families :angel-wings:

Maybe you should describe  exactly how you plan to run it Tony. It's a long track, so we need to have several cars on the track at the same time, unless we want to spent 1 hour or more qualifying :-))

Do you plan to call on us to go on track an be ready to go, and then we take off for the outlap as we see a car pass the pit or ....... ?

People on their out lap need to keep an eye open for anyone on a hot lap coming up behind them.

Exactly right. You all have a 30 minute time slot to do one out lap and then one hot lap.

hmm...... I suppose that might work, but it will require a lot of self- discipline. How can you tell, if a car behind you is on a hot lap or not, and if so, should you pull over, if you're  on a hotlap yourself?

I'll will use my standard routine, ie. take a coffee-brake and watch you guys qualify ;D

Got a link to the class data somewhere? I can only see entrants and don't really want to compete in an over-subscribed class if something I enjoy is looking a little thin....
(Especially now I've done the fuel calcs on the 302 'Stang - 3 pitstops to finish has killed that dream  :'( )

long time ago - early shower for me too  ::).

Great fun watching the guys still on track.

Happy new year to you all and thanks to all involved for organizing this event - I personally like endurance  :)

Not a roller skate in sight after 40 laps.

Congratulations to everyone who made it to the finish and thanks to Tony for putting on the event.

It looks as though Dan took the Gr4 Over 2 ltr crown. :thumbup2:

Fantastic speed from Donato and the gang.

My race was a disaster!  I have come to the conclusion that the tyre wear multiplyer in PnG is a load of old twonk!  I tested at x4 using hard tyres and found that I was lapping quite nicely at the end of ten laps without having to change them at the pit stop.  In the race this was far from the truth and I had to change to a set of mediums for the second half of the race.

My car was not damaged at any point but I still managed my fastest lap on the hard tyres, although that might have been down to getting a tow down the straight by the Italian mob early on.

Tim passed me and disappeared into the distance and I was left struggling with the hard tyres, which deteriorated far more than expected.

When I cam into my pit stop Giuseppe was sat in the pit bay immediately before mine and I couldn't get my car into a position that was acceptable to the pit crew so I had to do another lap.

I had better luck next time and having had a diabolical lap to get there had decided to go onto mediums.

After that it was just another 18 laps of the same.  The medium tyres went off towards the end and I went off a couple of times.  On one occasion I was thrashing about in the woods at the 3km point when Otto and Federico came past to lap me.  In the chat room after the race, this prompted Otto to ask I was looking for mushrooms!  LOL

Happy New Year All see you next season.

Following my early departure I stuck around and watched some amazing driving between Tim in the Capri battling for lap after lap with two of the Italian guys in BMW's. Best entertainment I've seen in a long time. They must have been knackered after the race finished. I don't think I could of done it, well done guys.

Unofficial LapChart (http://www.justanotherpage.nl/Srou/PnG/GTR2_solitude_64_2013_12_30_20_31/)

.. And not only a test of endurance it was but also a test of adjustment.
Had to switch to another car just before qually because the BOSS Mustang 302 gave problems for others logging on.
For some unknown reason I chose the Pantera Modena because I thought it was a stable drive... but not in my hands.
Also had the bright idea to notch the revs up resulting my gearbox got damaged when shifting down to aggressively (which I found out during the race..)
So my swerving across the road was entirely not intentional; My apologies to anyone whose fast lap I messed up  :-[
When I finally - after two hours -  managed to feel a bit comfy I managed to bin the Tomaso in some concrete straw bales...

So, when's the next endurance race?  ;D

Am I to only one who causes issues with the BOSS 302? If so, could anyone explain what I should do? The only thing I did was install the v3 version and the 3.1 patch. Haven't messed with the installation  ???

Happy New Year to all other sim drivers!

No it has happened here before to others. Don't know what the problem is because we have used it OK at Gamers Crib.

Ok, thanks. Good to know. I will stay away from the 302 for now  :'(

Thanks Eifel for pointing this out. It seems that there is an issue with the 302 Heckfluegel.
This corresponds with the fact that I was using a car with a rear wing.
Perhaps the other 302's work fine...
