(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Guy's, we still have a £40 deficit on our quarterly cost and if we don't clear it this month we will find it added to our next quarters cost's and then it will be a harder to clear.

So, to those who have already contributed, Thank you  :thumbup1: and if you could manage a further £2.00 it would be much appreciated.

To those who don't/haven't contributed please consider doing so. We really need your help to continue running.

Thanks

We have three MWC events this month, this one being the first, so we should see some car choices being narrowed down by the time August reaches us.

Time to tame that pesky escort i think. I have been avoiding that car as I just cannot get it to work  :(. But with the number of races diminishing I will soon out of choices if I don't make the effort.

Someone has to try and make Erling work for his champagne, so i hope someone has a fast car/setup for Silverstone  :ninja:

I was thinking the same thing her Clive.
I do have a 1600 set which was a race winning setup last time out (however that doesn't mean anything  ::)), which should do alright on Silverstone too. If i get home i can send it to you.
It is still suffering from some initial understeer, but that is something i just try to drive around. With more laps in the Escort it gets easier though.

Post by: EvilClive on July 07, 2014, 09:28:04 AM +0100
Well the fact that you have a race winning setup that suffers from understeer is a consolation, coz that is what I have been fighting since the first time i tried that pesky esky!! It seems that if I can dial out that initial under steer I pay with snap oversteer on the corner exit.!!  :-\

It looks like Arnold will have to use his scaffold pole and lump hammer to apply some minor modifications to the steering geometry....... ::)

Starting to feel the pressure too  ;D - and like Clive, have to use the darn thing somewhere.

Do any of you have and want to share a laptime for that car - wouldn't like to be 5 secs behind everybody else..  :o

Cheers,
Erling

My best with it so far is a 2:31, a time in the 2:28s should be possible with practice and the right setup - I'm driving something else, so I haven't put that much effort in to it.

The servers been on Anderstorp north since last week, and for some weird reason says i dont have that track installed, so gonna do some offline practise until 19:40 today, then try getting on the simracing server...  fingers crossed i finish the race today (even in last would be nice)  ::)
If the server shows a different track to the one your expecting YOU HAVE THE WRONG TRACK LOADED. No exceptions. Check it installed into the correct folder.

Post by: Tibernius on July 07, 2014, 05:35:29 PM +0100
If you don't have the track the server's running installed, it will display another track name in its place. Usually the first one in alphabetical order of the ones you've installed, iirc.

I was on the server earlier and it was as expected. Probably worth double checking that you have the right version, it needs to be the 2011 one.

That seems right to me (not 100% sure on the install path since I keep mine on a secondary drive, looks right for default though).
Have you tried "run as administrator" on the installer?

yep thats the one i have, just been practising offline on it, so its installed, will it run offline but not online.. ive uninstalled it three times since last week and redownloaded it twice, hmm.. ill give it another go

im installing the track to this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GT Legends

Track = SRou_GTL_Silverstone_2011_1.1.0.0

 ??? :-\ :'(

The track should be in your Locations folder and be called 11Silverstone. And why did you wait until race night to mention this?

umm k, even though the server says its on anderstrop north, and were racing on silverstone... (ive just practised offline on silverstone gp so its installed ok) very bizzare !  ::)
The Anderstorp tracks are standard and come with GTL. The server is showing it because it cannot find the correct track when you join. It has to show something so it picks a random standard track.

Most weird   but delighted that your now sorted.

well that was a pants race, false barrier detection on one of the marker posted corners caused me to spin, then my tyres went off (cos of the spin i expect) then tried pushing to catch up resulting in lap after lap of corner cut detections running wide coming out of bends lol, end result in a dnf because i got sick of pitting for cut track and decided seeing as i was last anyways a cuppa would be more beneficial !

It was shaping up to be a nice race, starting from the back because of some pc troubles again. Chasing Erling for 4th place and with Clive some 10 sec ahead  i was giving it my all when i went over a curb to much. Resulting in a spin, damaging the Ford. Managed to spin in front of Tony, luckely without hitting anyone. Nursed it to the finish.
Congrats to the podium!

Bit of a mixed bag, this race.

Had a hard time deciding on a car, as none of them felt 'truly good'.  Fancied the Nissan as one of the nicest there, but when it shaped up to be a Ford fest, I decided to join the party - have to use it sometime.

New pb in praccy and qualy, but still far off the pace.  Started in 6th and gained a position. Narrowly avoided a spinning Clive on L1, and then traded places a few times with Geezer on a mission - too much of a mission possibly, as he ran wide a few times, making it easy for me to get past. Was in 4th, which was upgraded to 3rd, free of charge, when Tibernius left very early on.

Was soon caught by Clive. He could corner much faster, as I had no answer to the Escort's terminal understeer, so he quickly got past and disappeared towards the horizon.
Next, Postal slowly reeled me in over a number of laps. Let him past when he caught me, dropping me to 5th in the process. He extended the lead over the next number of laps, but then fell off, so I regained 4th.  Expected him to catch me again, but it didn't happen, so hung on to 4th till the finish.

Thanks to Bill for helping me past, when I caught him late in the race.  Sorry I didn't flash my usual thank you. I was in the process of braking and downshifting at the time - that's already one task more than I'm supposed to be able to do simultaneously as a man, so I figured adding a 3rd would be pushing it..  ;)

Grats to podium and all finishers; great to see a large turnout.

Cheers,
Erling

Good race if a little lonely, and even more so for Dimitrio. I neutered the wayward mini as much as I could
and managed to keep it pointing in the right direction for a change  ::)
I gave up with the Escort and 911 as they would both swap ends on a whim under braking for me
so put my brave hat on and took the mini, and it worked well here. Couldn't keep up with Dimitrio who
was 2 or 3 secs a lap faster, and managed to hold off Clive at around 17 sec to the end  ;D

That was a race full of surprises for me.

I did not have time to try the Porker, so had no idea if it would be quick, although I know I could not have matched Dimetrio's blistering pace. I was also shocked at matt's pace in the mini on such a fast track, he must have been hurling that little car at the corners!!!! :o

Biggest surprise was that I had some competitive pace in the Escort after a couple of short practice sessions over the weekend and almost constant tweaking to a) get rid of that horrible initial under5steer and b) control the snap oversteer on corner exit.
I thought that Erling was sandbagging in practice and quali when I appeared to be almost a whole second up on pace??!! The start went well for the first 2 corners and I thought I might even hang on to the fast boys in front for a few laps until......... I just went a fraction too tight to the apex in T3 and clipped one of those poles!!!  That fired me out across the track and I just about prevented a stalled engine ( something I HAVE got to grips with!) I rejoined in last place with the pack scuttling into the distance

The next 10 laps were great fun, but involved driving that Escort right on the edge, as I slowly closed down each car in turn and picked my passing place, or profited from small excursions and mistakes ahead. Sorry to confess, but I was intent on hunting down Erling's blue Escort that I could see way ahead. Gradually it loomed larger and I seemed to gain under braking for the tight corners where Erling was struggling with his understeer. Actually my good friend Coyote timed a mistake just perfectly and ran wide at Luffield just as i was thinking about having a go at him... and I was through into 3rd spot.

I did close the gap to Matt's mini down to almost 10 secs at one point and maybe had I not screwed up the first lap we might have had a good dice, but if I tried to catch him i was in danger of throwing 3rd place away. So I concentrated on maintaining the gap back to 4th and watching the fuel for the last 5 laps.

I was actually quite pleased with the setup for the Escort as despite really pushing hard for 75% of the race I was still in the "green" for all tyres at the end. Only just in the green at the front  ::) but prolly 75% of rubber left on the rear.
happy to share the setup if anyone is desperate enough to want it...... ;)

I thought that Erling was sandbagging in practice and quali when I appeared to be almost a whole second up on pace??!!

Well, as stated above; new pb in praccy and qualy - and new pb again in race. Sandbagging? Not really...  ;)  (And you were 1.5 secs up on pace..)

Simple fact is I'm not fast at all in these cars - being ahead in the Championship is just a temporary fluke.

As I have two more rounds to go in the Escort, I'd be more than happy to try your setup (Desperate?   Oh yes!  ;D)

Cheers,
Erling

All I can say, that I practiced a bit with BMW for this race. But when entered the server I saw that BMW will be too much for this company. And I've decided to change for Porsche, as I thaught that it will be slower comparing to BMW at Silverstone and I'm not rear-engine master and have not tried this car here. So quali turned for me into first practice runs on Porkey with random clicking setup. But things turned so that Porkey have it's own useful abilities and not bad pace. Good car.

Thx for the race, gentlemens.

Thanks Tony I enjoyed that, once I'd sorted out which starting line was which.  Wife is always commenting how unobservant I am - realised the real start/finish line was one with 4 green lights on.  ::)

Also found out that I could reduce under steer in slow corners by going much deeper than usual and sort of tweaking car into over steer and using the throttle to straighten up around the corner. Amazingly I see my total race time average speed is faster than my qualifying time with new PBs chasing Kurt and finally the best chasing SortedGeeza before he eventually retired. Made an error in the fast sweeping section on lap 18  and took some time sorting myself out resulting in being lapped for 2nd time, which I feel I would have avoided otherwise.

Thanks to Bill for helping me past, when I caught him late in the race.  Sorry I didn't flash my usual thank you. Thanks Erling but I didn't notice it, I was too busy trying to get back more on the line for corner and trying to ensure I didn't hit you as well as going down 3 cogs in gearbox.  ;D

I'm sure everyone feels a lot better knowing that you set a blistering race pace in a car you hadn't practised with or driven at this track before  ;)  Lord only knows how quick you would have been in the Beemer  :o

Yet again my practise pace evaporated the moment I went online on race night  >:(

Must apologise to Postal (I think) for the tap at Club. Don't think you lost too much time but it must of been a bit annoying for you at the time.

Much of my race was spent being chased and overtaken by an extremely quick jmtautau in his Porsche, then watching him lose it at various places around the circuit, and waiting for him to catch and pass me again.

Good looking decent sized grid last night.  :thumbup2:

I'm already testing at Hockenheim

I was hurling the mini at the corners, my setup allowed me to drive the nuts off it
a little power on through the corners meant it went round the fast corners way better
and could brake later than the escorts, the 10 secs was because I went a bit wide
a couple of times, and lost some time, but was always able to open up the gap
again, if slowly. Would have been good to have had a close race Clive, but forgive me for not waiting   ;D

First time I felt some kind of comfortable with the Skyline.
Started practicing on Dunlops, felt better with Avons and eventually
started the race on Goodyears  ::).
7th on the grid, better start than usual and some nice laps - fun!
Had three consecutive laps under 2:32 (incl. new PB) which made
me happy. Then some of my usual mistakes and two cut warnings
within one lap (one of them when I was loosing the car - sometimes
I do not understand the "game management"  :(.
Some laps later I got a third one including the stop&go penalty,
completely lost concentration and destroyed my suspension by loosing
the right rear tyre.

But this was a better one for me.

Thanks to all involved for organizing! Higly appreciated.  :)

HELP

Lost G25 wheel setting can't change control setting, do I just click left  mouse button to change - doesn't work.

Tried changing PRL file with a one that was working when I copied and saved it but that doesn't work.

Wheel OK and GTR2 drives OK.

Seems to be just a GTL problem.

Tried running through steam but that says probem with exe file.  Tried their solution but can't get the file to run.

Suggestions please.
