(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Voted yes  :)

Need some time to think about tracks and cars.

Cheers,

Just watched the F1 race on Sky and it struck me that this track does not have many passing places??!! Not only that there ain't many straight bits either.

So I did my first bit of practice on this track and have decided that this just has to be prime Mini territory??? If the Mini does not win here, then slap me with a wet fish and call me Nigel!!

The only question that sprang into my mind was..."it may be Mini territory, but can I drive the car well enough to make it count here??""" also..."are there more "mini tracks" left in the series??""

ah decisions, decisions  ::)

BTW  best laps are around 1:58 with the Mini a second or so quicker after my first 30 min session. Chances of any serious practice between here and race are limited as a new season of GPL races kicks off tonight  :-\

Well, i did some laps to get a feel for the track. Didn't fancy driving the Mini, so i figured the Escort would be a good alternative. Might be the lack of track time, but i could not make it work properly with the old setups which where pretty alright on other tracks... Eeks. Work to be done during qualy tonight!

My sentiments exactly, after having seen the track described as slow and twisty.  However, couldn't make the Mini work in my first practice round with it. No consistency; kept running off and/or spinning, and laptimes were disappointing.  Had pretty much settled on the Porker instead, as that was the fastest for me, of my remaining car options. Couldn't shake the feeling though, that I may need it more on later tracks, so decided to give the Mini another go.  Went better with more concentration and less 'thrash it, it's fwd' attitude.  Best lap is a little faster than yours, but as you always seem to find several seconds over your initial times, I wouldn't worry about that  ;)    Still not decided on which car to use; will see what people are showing up in, and how fast they are, before making final decision.

Cheers,
Erling

Sorry guys, but I simply hate this track.
Was slightly optimistic after some offline laps on sunday
with a pb of 1:54.9 in the 911, but couldn't match this
effort in every respect  :-[
Turnarounds after every contact with the curbs in
practice, qualy and the opening stage of the race
demoralized me very quickly so I quit.

CU next week.

And I joined Kurt for an early bath when my PC froze. Still I was last with no hope of catching anyone and I hate this circuit so I'm not that cut up about it.

Recently had new AMD drivers installed so that I could play "Wolfenstein New Order" and that came with some bloatware called AMD Gaming Evolved. After I finish this message I'm booting that off my system, no worries. Have a better one guys nn.

That was one intense race... :)

Didn't bode too well in pre-race online praccy, when I managed both spinning off repeatedly, and rolling the poor Mini too.  ;D

Went better in qualy, where I shaved a considerable amount off my offline pb, getting within 5/100 of Tibernius' pole time.

As expected, we got jumped by most of the rwd cars at the start, as they're inherently quicker off the line.  Postal shot past, but then promptly spun and collected Tibernius in the process. That left me with a gaggle of no less than 3 Escorts in front.  Tony spun in T1, and I narrowly avoided him. 1 down; 2 to go  :)   Chased after Clive and Matt the first 2 laps, until Clive ran wide at the end of L2.  Hot on the heels of Matt for the following laps, trying to put him under pressure, but he didn't buckle.  Very difficult to pass, and soon the chasing pack caught up to me.  Things were getting spicy, now that I had to divide my attention between harassing Matt - without bumping him off, and defending against the crowd behind.  Some superb racing, very close, full on, but no contact at all.  Tried an outside move on Matt in the final turn before the start/finish, bringing us side by side down the straight.  Stretched the late braking ability of the Mini to the limit, and finally got in front at T1.

Could then build a (very) small gap. For the remainder of the race, I had Postal's white 911 looming in my mirror, some 2-3 secs behind.  Managed to hold the gap with some very concentrated driving, but it started shrinking towards the end, as my front tyres became increasingly shredded. Postal got up close and personal, when I ran wide in T4, but lucky for me, he had a half-spin the following lap giving me a small breather again. Next lap, he was suddenly gone from my mirror; apparently had a small off.  I could then cruise to the fininsh on the final lap.

Very surprised but obviously extremely chuffed to have won.  Sorry we lost Kurt and Tony along the way - and for Bill's prolonged absence - hope you get the problems sorted soon.

Edit:

If the Mini does not win here, then slap me with a wet fish and call me Nigel!!

Bugger, was really looking forward to the wet fish part...  ;D

Cheers,
Erling

Hehe I knew I was safe and to make sure that a Mini won the race, I ran shotgun for you and held up Postal and his ruddy quick Porker for enough laps so that you could escape. Well that is my interpretation of events!!  ::)

I almost took my last drive in the Mini for this one, although I was never getting the lap times that Erling and Tibernius were posting..that was quite a shock!!  ::) I finally decided that I had to keep the Mini whilst I still had 2 Escorts and 2 Porsches to use. I guess what I am trying to do is leave myself one of each car for the final races?  rather than use all the cars that I find easier to drive and then have a huge problem in the last few races..............if that makes any sense at all??!

I quite enjoyed the early laps, and after I ran wide I was amazed that I actually caught Erling and Matt again, but maybe that was the threat of Postal and his Porker looming large in the mirror LOL. Once Erling was through and Matt made a mistake I tried ( totally unsuccessfully!! ) to keep Erling in sight and hopefully get a chance if he made a mistake. Lap by lap that Mini pulled away and Postal was getting very interested in passing me, or maybe he was trying to read my sponsors details on the boot lid??

Eventually I decided that trying to keep that Porsche behind was going to cost me far more than the one place if I continued to defend, things were on the limit for too many laps from where I was sitting!! So I actually wimped out and eased off where I knew he could squirt through... and he was gone

Then Tibs rejoined the action in his very quick  Mini, but this time I was not feeling quite so generous and I defended my place for lap after lap ( fairly I hope?) using the grunt of the Escort to get out of the corners as fast as I could and braking as late as I dared. It was a great battle and a few times I almost over cooked it, but managed  to hold onto the position.

Eventually I cocked up the braking at one point and ran wide enough to create a mini sized gap  :censored:

Despite reports around here that I was trying to lay down a smoke screen and I confess I was leaning very heavily on the tyres at times  ::) I finished the race with the rears at about 65% and the fronts down to 50%, which actually makes no sense at all to me because I fully expected to be on the rims by half distance !!!!

Grats to Erling and the podium and thanks for some great racing  ;)

I was looking forward to some wet fish slapping, so i hopped in the Porsche!

Eeehhhm, no i wasn't that fast just my suspenders where stuck behind your rear bumper.. ::)

That was quite an enjoyable race indeed. In practise i could not find the love for this track in the Escort, so i hoped the Porsche would do oke around here. I took a wet fish. Put it in my clove compartiment and went into qualy. After some tweaking i got into the times the frontrunners where doing, so i was happy.

Race start was good again, passed Tibernius off the line when my wheel decided to double upshift again >:( (be looking into buying me a new wheel sometime soon!) which resulted in a spin and taking Tibo in the process (sorry!)
Then again it made for some nice racing, with 5 cars caught in one frame for many laps. The Porsche required a clean driving style so it was hard to force a decent overtake attempt. Clive was using all of the tarmac in the corners, while Erling dissapeared into the distance. After Clive let me by i tried to keep Erling honest to the finish. But with a couple of laps to go i saw him rejoining the track from the graveltrap. At T1 i did a first overtake attempt, but decided we did not needed any more contact as per last races. Into T2 i tried to run up the inside, but now the Porker was going to bite me. Did half a spin and set about re-catching Erling, but upping the pace was not helping and spun again.
Nursed it home in second and fired up the BBQ for some nice fish. 8)

I am off for holidays, see you all at Spa!

No problem, things like that happen every once in a while. Caught me by surprise though since I couldn't see your car when you started spinning, first time I saw it was when it was right in front of me! :o
One thing that might help, depending on what wheel you have, is mapping a macro in for the paddle/shifter with a delay after it - I used to do that with my old wheel through the Logitech profiler, iirc. That and plugging the wheel in to the rear USB ports on the PC directly if it isn't already, they do play up sometimes if they're on the front ports or a hub.

Yep, definitely fairly. It was hard for me since the Mini was faster mid corner in most of the second sector, but I was having to back off to avoid hitting you (I actually span once putting the brakes on mid corner to avoid you because I went in too fast). Then when I finally found a corner I was faster in it was Turn 3 and I wasn't going to even attempt to overtake into Turn 4. I was surprised when you went off actually, you'd been drifting nicely around that corner up until then.

Right, i will have a look into setting a macro for my paddles. That might be a big help.

Mmmm, i have had a try with setting macro's but without any luck. Made a new function for the peddle called Upshift and hooked the box called Pause and saved the macro. It is not working yet. Am i missing something or could it just be that it does not work for my problem? Searched the net but could not find the right answer, hope someone here can help out.

Which program are you using? Which wheel?
It sounds about right, but a lot depends on the program. I think I was using a 1/2 second pause on mine with Logitech Profiler.
Might be worth making a new thread for it in the GTL section, might get some of the others chiming in then.
