Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=418&theme=5)

Special Notes: The most popular car will be dropped from the remainder of the series.

Tony have a strange problem.  Downloaded and installed Barber but can not see track in Locations - not available in list of tracks in Sim either.  However, there is a Barber Un-install Icon in the root of GTL Season 14 which goes through the correct un-install screen sequence and deletes itself at the end.

Advice please!!

It's called Birmingham and we are using the Long circuit.

Thanks Tony.  Get quick flash of track then dumped back to home screen.  See it's a GTR 2 track - seem to remember that we need GTR 2  to make these tracks work; Only multiple GTL installations on my drive now.  Advice please Tony.

Off line till tomorrow AM, cheers

Maybe you mean this Bill? http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=1430

I haven't downloaded the track myself, so i don't know if this is the cure.

But track is a conversion from RF not GTR2.

Records show that this track has been used many times in P&G but never run before in GTL.

Anyone else have problems with this track? Please report back asap so I can arrange an alternative venue.

Thanks Tony will download from this link later and give it a whirl.  See they recommend and provide a Win 8 driver update - interesting.

Got a job to sort out for the Boss first - top priority.  ::)

Edit: Sorry Postal for wrong attribution.  Must be going mad can't see where I saw Win 8 must hallucinating.

Appears my User Name and Password are no longer valid for NoGrip.  I'm not able to re-register - I get into a loop and can't find way, from Nogrip, to get re-registered.  Any one able to help me please.

Just before Christmas their site was compromised. You now have to re-register, no alternatives. I can host the download and post the link here if you want Bill?

Thanks Tony but this is such a useful site I must try and re-register - will come back to you.  Whilst trying to log on tried a Win8 Update and it all went to worms.  Had to have on-line specialist do an expensive deep clean of computer.  Typical GTL isn't working, left it late last night I will do a new from scratch install and see if I can sort it out for Monday.

thanks Tony - I'm at 1:41.3 in the Falcon (perfect lap) and 1:42.2 in the Mustang TA and Camaro each.
The Falcon seems to be the funniest drive for me  8)

Sorry.   Yes, its me yet again!!  ::)

I tried joining the practice server yesterday and got the message "car not available on server"??? before being disconnected.

I had NOT selected the now deleted Mercury Cougar so was a little perplexed? as it seemed to indicate that I had the car ( MustangTA) but the server did not. Or does this message imply something different?

It's a shame that you didn't tell me about this yesterday. The message is implying that your car was not available. Did you try with another car? I won't be able to do anything about this until I get home tonight, sorry.

I would have posted but there was an F2 race in UKGPL that needed some urgent preparation.......so many races, so little time!!!  :-\

I did try the Dodge charger as well Tony, with similar results, but I am guessing that it is ME and not the server? Although the message appears to indicate a lack of data at the server end I am suspecting a "mis-match" between my clients car and those on the server ??

I am at work too  >:(, so it will have to wait until this evening for me to sort it.

I notice that you didn't partake of round one so that's why the problem has surfaced now, ok, no probs.

As the V8 car pack is a self installer it's hard to imagine that that's to blame. Some of the cars reside in a folder called "Extra Cars". Perhaps check that you have that in under your GTL/Gamedata/Teams folder. If you start GTL can the cars all be seen in your garage e.g. Single Player/Garage?
I will check the server when I get home for a full compliment of cars. Could be the servers dropped some?
More later.

Checked the server and all cars are present and correct. I tried going online with a random Mustang and a Charger and both loaded fine.

Did you purchase the cars you were trying to test? Not sure if that's relevant but I'm running out of ideas.

The Dodge Charger folder should be in a folder called Extra Cars. The Mustang TA should be in the GTC-65 folder.

Post by: EvilClive on February 17, 2014, 09:55:09 PM +0000
I was right Tony, it was all my fault...but I guess you knew that already  ;)

I think I made a mistake when I d/loaded the original V8 car set. I did not realise that the installer would find the correct place to insert them and I tried to direct it to the "Cars " file. So I ended up with cars within cars etc. This also explains the problem with the porker at Norisring I suspect+ most of the other issues  ::)

So I d/loaded again and allowed the installer to do its job, noting where it placed them. Then I deleted all the other instances of the V8's and it all worked like you knew it should.

Qually went well and although I could not match the pace of Matt, I did squeeze a 2nd grid spot on race fuel in the final seconds...chuffed with that. After that things started to slide....first of all sideways as I showed how it was possible to remove huge amounts of rubber from my tyres in only a few laps...Then downwards as I struggled for grip and car after car cruised past!!

The race was fun until my wheel rims started making scratchy noises on the tarmac after about 10 laps. This was the first time that I had experienced the loss of that nice green rubber stuff and that was down to over exuberence in the first 3 laps, chasing Matt. Lesson learned here! as I not so much fell, as plumetted, down the order after that.

Apologies to those who came across a Mustang parked in, or recovering from bizarre locations. Grats to the podium and those who were more careful with those precious tyres  ;)

Reasonably good race that. Couldn't catch Matt in qually or the race, always a place down with the odd interference by Clive  :)
Cars were good fun here with plenty of tail sliding and raucous V8's straining at the leash  8)

Had a good early battle with Clive but it allowed Matt to get away without any pressure on his bootlid. After Clive fell off I had a long lonely chase in 2nd to the flag.

Well done Matt and fellow podium team mate Postal  8)

Legends top the table after two rounds  :thumbup1:

First of all, what an exhilarating track - once you find out what lurks behind all those blind crests.. ;D

Been a long time since I had to use "oh sh.." so many times, while learning a new track   :o

Usually have a hot cuppa after a race, but after this, I needed something cold..  :D

Knocked almost 1.5 secs off my previous best in qualy, but that was still only good enough for 4th on the grid.

1st lap pushing and showing, and a whack-induced spin dropped me to 7th. Cracked on and was chasing Evert, when he spun in front of me at T1. Nowhere to go except into the side of his car. Sorry mate, couldn't avoid it.

Had Tony hot on my heels, when I caught up to Roger.  Try as I might, I couldn't intimidate him enough to make a mistake - at least not a Pontiac sized one, so remained behind for several laps.  Tony on the other hand, in most suave fashion dispatched both of us - on the same lap no less.. Still blinking my eyes over that..

Finally got past Roger at the fast chicane.  Not sure he didn't let me past, as I otherwise don't think I would have made it.  Then spent over half the race chasing down Tony.  Some laps the gap grew, when I was trying too hard.  Noticed at one point that he had caught up to Clive. "Great, hopefully that battle will slow him down a little", but I soon went "Bugger all, he got past  :cursing:".  Thus up to me to mount an attack on Clive, but before I could do so, he was kind enough to spin at T1, and I thus sailed into 5th.

At long last got up close and personal with Tony, but as our speeds were so evenly matched, there was no way past unless he made a mistake. Quite an epic race ensued, and only on the penultimate lap did Tony finally crack, going a bit wide and onto the grass, at that crazy, flying downhill tight righthander. That allowed me to slip past, and Tony had lost enough momentum for me to have 4th in the bag, as long as I could keep from falling off, while not driving like a complete granny..  ;)

Grats to the podium; most impressive speed guys.

Cheers,
Erling

Jolly good race  ;D

I took the Mustang TA because it seemed to be the lightest car, and at Barber it's more  about agility than pure power
Seemed to work, there was a lot of bumping going on at T1 in my mirrors  :o various people shunting other cars around
Must have been that my pace was so awesome everyone else tripped over themselves trying to keep up  ::)

Last half of the race was about trying not to scrub the tyres too much, and short shift a lot to avoid spinning off into a wall
MJ closed a bit then fell back so even though I went grass tracking once or twice, I managed to ease out a gap to the end.

What a great race track! Legzy discovered this circuit back in the early days of P&G and I was suprised to discover that we had never used it in GTL. That's now rectified and I think that it suited these cars perfectly.
The qualy times were jaw-droppingly quick, no sooner had one driver set an excellent fast time so it was topped by another driver. Matt in the Mustang was on top form, the car definately to his liking.

Most enjoyable race. But apologies to Kurt who I gave a love tap to, in the braking zone for the turn 2 (or is it 3) sharp left hander on the first lap. That made it impossible for him to avoid contact with a car in front of him and left me going off onto the grass to avoid the resulting mayhem. You can post an incident report for that Kurt, definately my bad. Worked my way up through the field after that and eventualy caught and passed the evil one. Had to concentrate on finishing with badly worn rubber all round and with a Coyote on a mission slowly reeling me in to his clutches. Then had many, many laps with the Coyote in pursuit matching me move for move. He was eventualy to pass me at the corkscrew section of the circuit when on my approach, my fuel low light came on. This distracted me for a milli-second and caused me to go off course momentarily. This was all Erling needed to get by and although I tried to catch him, his lead was too great and with one lap left he made it to the line in front of me.

We now have a break until June when we meet again at the awesome Portland circuit.

June?! its only blinking February...eh?  ???

Yes, agree on the track, its great fun in classics motor-racing. I thought these big beasts might be too wide and heavy for it but they suited it well. Far better using all US tracks for these big yanky V8s, makes it easier to imagine racing them there back in the day  8)

Aahhh, that was you :gun_bandana:  ;D :) ;)  No problem at all, Tony. That's racing.

Was missing my usual second between offline and online practice in the Falcon.
So I made a last-minute decision and switched to the Mustang TA, the more as I felt that could be the last possibility
to drive this great car in this series  :(
After the first fun laps race turned to a fight against tyre wear. As I already was in last position I decided to change tyres
hoping for some better laps but then got a stop & go penalty and quit due to loss of motivation  ???

A very nice track this is. Indeed the big American Muscle where right at home here. As Matt, I thought the TA Mustang would be a good option on this twisty track. I was surprised to see him taking out about 2 seconds on my qualy times, that didn’t spell much good for the race.. :o

Starting from P5 behind teamie MJ in his GTO I had a great traction off the line, tried to go through the middle of the row in front, only to discover MJ’s Pontiac was bigger than I thought. Made a nice dent in his boot lid  :-[and had to maintain in position for T1. Then I had somebody dive bombing me into the first turn. Don’t know who it was, but the maneuver took himself out.
Then blasting uphill to the left hairpin I got the run on Coyote in another GTO and managed to out brake him. From then on it was a bit of a lonely race with nobody in close proximity.
Had fun sliding the Mustang around though and happy to get a podium finish again. Bring on the next one!
