Title: UKGPL Season 25 (2013) Privateers Trophy (67) - Estoril - Dec 8

Season 25 Privateers Trophy, Round 10 Estoril
Apologies for the late post - it seems Paul is offline, so I make a provisional race post ::)

Welcome to the tenth and final round in the Season 25 Privateers Trophy.

The addition of Estoril to the UKGPL track list completes a hat trick of Portuguese Formula 1 Grand Prix circuits.  We have raced at Monsanto which hosted the Portuguese Grand Prix in 1959 and Porto which hosted the Portuguese Grand Prix in 1958 and 1960.  The first Grand Prix at Estoril was held in 1984 so the configuration is tailored towards the faster modern cars which should give plenty of opportunity to stretch the legs of the 67 cars and provide good chances to overtake.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 08-12-2013
Race Time = race starts at 21:30 UK time
Qualifying Time = Between 30 and 60 minutes, starting no later than 21:00 UK time
Track = Estoril (http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=1193)
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = Intermediate
Race length = 50 Minutes (laps 26)
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Replays Available here (http://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/inc_replaysS25_js.aspx)

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=402&theme=6)

A maximum of ONE reset is allowed per race & must be followed by a compulsory Stop & Go in the pit lane within two laps of the Reset. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start to the exit of the Parabolica Interior . Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=402&theme=6) standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Sorry for the late post. Thanks to Cookie for posting it. I have been without Internet at home for a few days.

Rather dismal end to the series.

Just before qually, I realised that I didn't actually have Estoril;  I'd been thinking about Imola for some reason!
[had been away recently & also tied-up at home meant any potential practice time was out of the window anyway].

Grabbed track & a setup [lucky Mosport],  but was unable to even stay on/complete one lap.   The next setup [Interlagos - which had worked ok for me in the past,  aka Kyalami]  allowed me to get 2 laps under my belt;  I consider myself to have ended up so far forward in last place!   Probably good job that 107% does not apply here...

It was always going to be about damage control for championship points.

Unfortunately, a few laps in DSL dropped out.  I think I had just been able to get past a stricken cloaked-machine & Andreas was then showing as being approx 190 yards up the road then was kicked out.

Was just starting to recognise parts of the track so was hoping to have started having a bit more fun out there as I got a bit braver.  Never mind.

Nonetheless,  it's been a good series.  Thanks all.

Also - I guess welcome to Gregory;  welcome aboard!

Cheers,
Dave.

I am looking forward to racing in the privateers trophy next season. I considered registering so that I could join this race. I had a nice practice yesterday at this track in the cooper, but regretfully, I did not register so that I could race  :-\. Bring on the fun races! - Walt C.

Judging from the low turn out, it seems that quite a few regulars had difficulty in finding the race.
I tried to join shortly before 9pm using the instructions given above and after a few 10054 failed attempts managed to get to the track only to find that it had been taken over by a bunch of rowdy Works squatters!
Thinking I might have used the wrong IP or password I made several repeated attempts but with the same result.
I don't usually bother with IGOR as I rarely manage to get a race list and when I do I can't join the race via the list (none of the usual fixes have worked).
I finally did go to IGOR to be told that the server had changed to T8 but I don't have the IP for T8 and in any event the race had started.

Could I respectfully suggest that if changes are made to the arrangements, the revised details are posted on this page.

Congratulations to the Trophy winner and welcome to Gregory and Walter though judging from his times it seems that Gregory will be a candidate for the Works division.

Sorry Michael we had troubles with the planned servers, so we had to change things in last minute.
It would have helped to read the "comments" in IGOR to see which server is running which class.

Walter there would have been no problem to join if you had asked in the chatroom before the race...

Even though I realy don't like this track, I managed to make a save setup that allowed me to drive with only one loss of concentration to the finish.

   Congratulations to Andreas the winner of S25 Privateers!

Congratulations to Andreas for winning the Privateers championship !!

Now, I hope you will join the WORKS for season26, and the same for Axel, Hendy and Gregory !
Just look at your best time in Estoril : you were 2 seconds less than me ...and you know what ? I finished 2nd of the season25 WORKS Championship  so you could do even better next season  ;)

That would leave the Privateers grid almost empty. Admitted that Hendy has put in some very quick times in the last few races & Greg is probably Works standard. Cookie would usually be of similar pace but that was probably just Estoril. (Took me quite a bit of experimenting to find a set up that suited this track).
Maybe we could have a different handicap system in the Privateers so we have decent size grids? (Not looking to start a debate here)

I wouldn't mind staying in Privs. At least I would like to win the series one of these times (this was my 3rd full time season). The last few races I won mostly because I had saved tokens.

I know you probably are aware of this, but the yellow 'refresh' button has to be active for the list to update, and it has habit of coming 'unpressed' on its own.

UKGPL_8 has no permanent IP adress, but in IGOR you can see it.
Click on the server and in the middle section on the left you will find the details with the server IP!

Thanks all!
Was a great season in the Privateers and I am very proud that I won it!  :)
My plan was when I win it, I will move up to the Works. So I stick to the plan.  ;)

So long

Hello everybody.

Thank you for letting me in the race, Axel.

I guess I should join the Works division next season? If you need me in the Privateers to increase the number of drivers, that's fine too.

My times at Estoril are a little slow. I drove 7 laps on Dean's practice server and then joined the Privateer practice. Last Sunday was the only time I've driven that track. I drove just enough to see that my Zandvoort setup needed some fine tuning for Estoril.

It looks like whichever division I drive. I'm going to have to learn to drive one of the three cars that cost the least tokens.

I wouldn't be in such a hurry. As Estoril is a rarely-used track (not rarely enough, imo, but that's for another thread  ;) ...), laptimes may not be all that representative of people's overall pace.

I don't mind being a backmarker Dean. In my opinion, the decision whether to drive Works or Privateers would probably be better if left to majority of the members. I don't care. I'm likely to enjoy it whichever division I will drive.

The BIG differentiator between the series is that there are no resets in Works so a high level of skill/conduct is expected. Any mistakes can ruin somebody else's race without a chance of rescuing it...

Pace at the top of Privateers/bottom of Works is often similar. I could never step up even though I got my maiden win because I cannot maintain a level of performance without making mistakes. Even that win was gifted to me when Hendy was forcibly disconnected.
