Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Hello, I'm new to GTL online racing and i would love to race on dec 23rd What should I do ?

Hello Michel and welcome to SimRacing.org.uk. GTL.

First thing you should always do is read the first post in a thread. Its called the Race Announcement and it will tell you everything you need to know to join a race, ok?

This thread is for an end of the year fun run at Snetterton so you need to download and install the track. The cars are standard GTL cars so no downloads needed for them, you should already have them.

We run on the Simbin lobby and our practise server will be visible there. It won't be showing on Thursday and Sunday nights as we turn it off when other leagues here are racing.

I guess you should try and join the track online. Let us know how you get on. If you run into any difficulties or have a question or ten get back to us here. There are loads of drivers who will be able to help you.

Thanks for putting track on server - however for both cars plus the Falcon 351 (all shown as available to drive) I get car not available and get dumped back to Lobby.  ??? ::)  Suggestions

Can't help at the moment Bill. My Dad is in hospital and it doesn't look good for him.

EDIT: Just had a quick look and now fixed. Should be OK once GTL is restarted after tonight's P&G

Would like to take part in this race (Thanks to Bill for the heads up).

Been wanting to get back into GTL racing for some time, so this could be a good test to see how far off the pace I've fallen. :o

Tony, sorry to hear about your dad; I hope he gets better.

Regarding the race; is it correctly assumed that there's no mandatory pitstops, and that times mentioned are GMT ?

On-line handle will be 'Coyote' as before.

Hi Erling, no pitstops and times are GMT. Geez it's been a few years since you ran with us mate. Things have changed a lot in GTL and our grid size has shrunk a lot. Please try to join online before the race so we can help if there's a problem, ok? BTW were on the Simbin lobby nowadays. If you see SimRacing.org.uk Mondays in the lobby your in the right place.

Yes, it's scary how time flies past.   It's ages since I've been online in GTL, so I'll try during the afternoon - hopefully that should leave time to fix eventual problems.

You will probably find that your GTL takes you to the Altbierbude lobby, where we used to race.

See if you can find a file under your main GTL folder called LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT

Open it using Notepad or similar. The content of this file should read thus

gtlsrv.race-game.com

The lobby file contained an IP address: 91.121.7.48

I've changed it as per your instructions, but can't seem to get a server list.  In the logon screen, I select 'Internet' and use the same username/password as before, but get an 'Invalid user/password'.  However, if I try to register with the same combo, I get a 'User already exists' error.  ???

Have tried the LAN /direct IP option too, but find no servers there.

Should it be possible to connect presently, or only once the practice session starts ?

Hi Erling. Sounds like you need to re-register to connect to the lobby. Select "Register" and then put in a new username and new password (your race name will still be the same as it just changes your name in the lobby). Then you need to log in using your new username and password and you should see our server in the lobby.

You might have to repeat the process a couple of times before it works, but I think that should do it.

TVR is just a standard GTL car so cannot guess why it's causing all that drama. Is this occuring offline, online or both?

Do not use LAN/Direct IP. As GT sugests, re-register with a different name/password etc.

Right click on your desktop GTL icon. Select properties. See Target? This line should end with GTL.exe. Add a space then enter this  -trace=1000. Now run GTL and under one of your user folders you will see a txt. file. The bottom of this may show the problem. Sorry have to go now, dinner time.

Thanks for a nice, clean race guys.  It was great to be back in GTL; I now realise how much I've missed it.. :)

Sorry I dropped out as the first race was about to start.  Computer crashed.  It's a very intermittent and very annoying problem that's plagued me for a while now.  Seemingly without pattern, I suddenly get a black screen, or some random pattern, and the computer hangs.  Win7 reliability index describes it as 'hardware error in video', when it catches it, which is not every time.  It probably points to the video card, but could conceivably also be the motherboard.  Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get a new video card for starters, so must read up on current offerings.

Thankfully managed to get through race 2.  Made one of my usual slow starts, so Tony got alongside, but I had the inside line for T1.  He passed me on the inside as I braked for T2, but promptly outbraked himself  :), so I could dive inside him and regain the position.

Then for most of the race, I had a grand stand view of the battle for second between Postal and Goldtop, while I tried desperately to hang on.  Managed to keep the gap within 2 secs for most of the race, but it did widen a bit in the last laps.  Fairly quickly got a good gap to 5th place, so not really under pressure during the race, except for trying to keep up with the boys in front.

Nice to have you with us Erling, hope you find us to your liking. Word of warning tho. The next race will feature all mod cars (add-ons) and sometimes these can throw up unexpected errors. Please try them out before race night as it's easier to help you fix things if you give us more time.

Yeah, that was some nice racing tonight lads. Had two sollid races. I did some tweaking to my setup between races and it was better, just not much faster :P  and Geoffers gave a masterclass in driving a TVR fast. That's my setup in the bin then ::)

Haven't raced these cars for a while and had some good fun in them last night. Should have made a better race of it in the TVR but made a couple of silly errors.

Thanks for organising this event at short notice, thought I was going to go without a Christmas period GTL  bash.  Nice to see my old mate Erling back into the fray, pity about video card but you soon got into swing of GTL again.  Don't know if your GTLDK runs any GTL championships now - Kurt should be able to tell you.  Kurt see you had disappointing race.

First race was too inconsistent, chasing Tony set a new PB with TVR but ran out of fuel - a first with GTL when I've loaded correct race fuel.

Second race was better (more fuel on board) had a short battle with Tony then a longer one with Roger,  Managed to make pass stick in the end and had a reasonably comfortable drive to the finish.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all my Reader, see you all for Season 14 - maybe before then as Tony has kindly set up our server for the first event.

Hi .... no idea what this is also ( hdr-mod) only thing i could find using error code on google, as it seemed to relate to dx9, in GTL config i set GTL to dx8 and the TVR worked.
Enjoyed races 2nd race thought i could keep Bill behind but he did a super overtake and shot off into the distance, then Tony went pass and that left me last.

ENB series is a lighting mod for adding different visuals to sims. I reckon it is probably conflicting with another installed mod (my bet would be xd if you have it). Do some research Roger, but I think it's something to do with that d3d9.dll

Thanks for the fun races last night guys. Don't get the chance to race GTL here very often, but when I do the races are always good fun. Only downside was bumping Postal into a spin in race 1, sorry about that Postal.

It all appears to have a graphics theme. I would be getting rid of that ENB or at least try to disable it before running GTL. I don't believe this is in any way caused by the XD add-on. You can get an add-on like Game-fire where you can turn off stuff that you don't want to run whilst GTL is played.

Hi Tony thanks for reply .... xd is as you say not the problem have tried GTL without it, dont know what you mean by ENB ?, but will try prog from your link. The prob is on all settings dx9-dx8-dx7 and auto.

ENB series http://enbdev.com/description_en.htm seems to be a Russian one man band hobbyist who has created a graphics enhancement tool for games.

You must have got it from somewhere Roger. But if you don't know about it and you wont miss it if it's gone, I'd consider removing it from your PC.

Hi Tony .... when i googled the crash code enbseries was what it came back with, have not installed it and when search pc for those files none are found. Game fire free version not work on 64 bit system, downloaded enditall and used still same prob GTL crashes after 4 to 9 laps. Will prob have to start again with a fresh install.

Yeah, a fresh install sounds good. I keep one fresh install which I copy many times so that I have one dedicated GTL for every series I race.

Interesting thread here. 

I have had multiple game crashes with GTL this evening, despite using "Enditall" and closing AV ( which I always do before running GPL anyway).

Strangely enough, I did not have any probs when using the practice server, only when running offline??

Hi .... complete new install of GTL from steam works perfect offline, Try to log in (registration failed invalid cd key) steam gives me new cd key and small box in lower right corner tells me to input key when asked, when does it ask you or how to input this key HELP.

I've not had to deal with the Steam install myself. Can someone else offer some help to Roger please? I thought key was asked for when you first tried to go online?

I recently did the install from Steam ( having input the key to validate the download). I also got the little box telling me to input the key when asked.... but I was never asked!!??

So, I assumed that somehow the validated download automatically takes care of that bit??

I don't want to doubt you Rog but, double check that the new code you are inputting is correct and is the same length as the original. Maybe even try using your original code?  My download/install seemed to work with the code I used from the inside of the CD sleeve and I did not get asked again.

Hi Clive thanks for reply, used online key from cd case and works fine on server. Steam key only appears when launch from steam and as you do not need steam to start game it does not appear. GTL now working offline and online.

Start GTL. Choose Multiplayer then Internet. If you have already registered your GTL then you should go on to "The Lobby". Here you will see at least one Game called "SimRacing.org.uk Mondays". See that and your in the Simbin lobby for sure.
