Another "new track test"

There is a huge amount of road surface beyond the white line track delimiter.

Some is marked off limits with red and white kerbs, some places by cones, the cones are movable though
and could get knocked out of the way.

I think the only way this track is useable is to say keep two wheels on the track side of any white lines
if you spin off or get pushed off onto the surface beyond the white lines, this is not a problem, deliberately
going wide of, or cutting inside the white lines repeatedly will get you an incident report.

Is it the 289 or the 427 roadster?

Its Pacific Raceways Clive, but not (exactly) as we know it!

I think some of the distances between corners and other details are slightly different. But at least I know which way the next corner goes. Now, whether the Cobra will agree about which direction we should both go in....only time will tell  ::)

This will become the first event in the new P9 LCC series
When I get the thing to point at the correct championship standings that is  :cursing:

Well I'm sure that I remember the name of the circuit but I'm blowed if I can remember any of it!

Did we use it in BREASTS?

I know UKGPL have used it a couple of times, and certainly it was used in BREASTS, but that might have been when you were not involved. The big difference that I noticed is the last section with all the cones and lines...looks like we are racing through the car park!!!

Exactly what I thought too!  Is it Asda or Tesco?

Oh dear... I'm out for a week or two due to work. Thursdays aren't good for me at the moment but that should sort itself out in the next couple of weeks. Shame really as I'm still on a major high after getting past Mog at the last chicane at Suzuka on the last lap on Tues night

Had a great time chasing Matt for 10-15 laps untill he lipped and I got passed him :-. ))

........... but dear Postal  :wetfish:  .... please pleas please, be more careful when you're about to be lapped.

You came flashing across the track, just as I came out from turn 1, and that finished old Hotkeys off  :-\

Replay And Results Posted

Was a good race, managed to keep Stig at bay for half the race, then I loist the back end with half worn tyres
and he whizzed past. Wondered why you left Stig, I only just avoided Postal after one of his offs.
Bummer Clive. People were having trouble joining tonight, perhaps the network was a bit more marginal than usual
and sensitive connections went over the edge.

Next LCC race is a short track with some light handicapping.  :scared:

Nice steady race. Only silly mistake at the beginning.
Congrats to podium. On your way to the next championship, Meister John?

Yes, i am sorry chaps. I was having pretty bad frame rate on this new track on my old pc. In perspective i might have better quit early as it was difficult to control the car this way. Really sorry Hotkeys.

Matt you can award my points to Hotkeys if that is possible.

Note to self.....

Either do not join a race if you are expecting an important phone call...or... do not rty and drive and talk at the same time!!!

Whichever you choose, do not drive straight into solid armco barriers exiting T1!!.......muppet!  :-\

Was I the only one involuntarily wincing each time I went past the edge of that barrier? It was a bit too close for comfort most of the time.

I had smacked into it several times while testing, so I gave it a wide berth in the race.
Not a bad track, though all the white lines were not ideal.  ???

I didn't enjoy this car/track combo. Having said that, I don't like cobras as they are too close to being tanks for my liking. Never felt racey and just glad to finish unscathed and scrape a few team points.

Hope we can have some proper race cars in this series  ;)

Enjoyed the race, especially the first half chasing Clive, but seriously mystified by why I was so far off the pace. I watched John & Ivan in practice to try & get some clues, John is always better on the brakes & I am resigned to always being a second slower but I could not figure why I was so much slower than Ivan. I seemed to be later on the brakes & earlier on the gas yet was 2s slower! I think I really must be way off on the setup although the car feels really good.  ???

Anyway was good fun & congrats to the podium.

Clive, I think you need to service your pedals, your brake lights were flashing on & off going down the straights!

Noticed that also when you were lapping me..

Thanks Geoffers and Alex.

You are right but I have not found a reasonable source of good replacement pots as yet.

I have put a hefty dead band on the brake pedal so although the light flashes I'm hoping that the brakes are not being applied.

The bigger problem is that the throttle is flickering at full chat so on some occasions I don't get full throttle either!

Very well done to John and Ivan!  I think we should adopt the 289 as the SBRC mascot.  Also congratulations to Federico.

@ Matt regarding: "Next LCC race is a short track with some light handicapping."  I'm handicapped enough already!   :P

I noticed that my brake lights were also flashing when I watched a replay of some of my practice laps. I guess my G25 is suffering the same problem as Clive's. I too programmed in a large dead zone in the hope of eliminating any drag.....or I could claim that as the reason I have not won any races yet  ::)

BTW Clive I did have a problem with my Accelerator just like you are reporting and I decided that the Clutch pedal is far less important than the Go pedal...So I swapped the pots over with the aid of some deft soldering. The pots are identical on all pedals in the G25, it is just how the software interprets the inputs that changes things. It is a little fiddly stripping it down but a good project for a rainy Saturday afternoon.  ;)

Thanks Clive but I already did that about 18 months ago.  All of the pots are now knackered and cleaning them doesn't restore them for long enough to warrant undoing the million screws to get at them.

I really want to find a good pot that I can fit instead of the manky carbon track items that Logitec use.  I have found that "Vishay" probably make one but they are about £15 each!  And I need 3!!!!

Can't you just buy some similar value pots and use the tracks to replace the worn out ones in the original pots? Failing that you could always try "cleaning" the old ones up by scraping the inner and outer edges of the tracks with a sharp blade. I've done this with old guitar volume pots to rescue them.

I have the same problem with my g27 pedals. All three are doing what they want. Before every race i make several offline laps to see if the ghost's lights are flashing. To solve it i'm driving with 50% deadzone on the cluth 10 % on the gas and break pedal. The clutch was break before but i switched them because can't drive with 50% deadzone on the brakes :D This works for now on my wheel. Tried to fix the pots but they are so damaged and it's better not touching anything.

As you are discussing pedal issues, I'll also chime in...

A few months ago,  my G25 accelerator pedal was spiking quite a lot, particularly visible when running through the calibration process.   I didn't go as far as pot removal/strip down/track wipe,  but was able to get some contact cleaner in the pot through a hole that I recall being up-facing (not tried it yet,  but knowing where that is now - it may be possible to get in there armed with a torch & contact cleaner with a thin flexible tube...)

Been ok so far, but I expect I'll be in there again at some point.

Maybe not too relevant here,  but also tried same trick on the H shifter as 2nd gear was sometimes ending up as 2nd, 4th or neutral.  Upon reassembly, noticed the lugs/ears sticking out the lower part of the shaft were part ground away from where they were engaging with the side plates/gate.  Just loosened them so as to turn them over;  worked fine on a recent test event!

One thing is for sure - I'd never make it on the Logitech production line!  Hopefully no need to crack those things open again for a while.

Cheers,
Dave.

Spent a couple of hours last night taking the pedals and pots apart and cleaning everything.  I also gave the wipers on the pots a good twasting to make sure that they would be running on a new bit of the carbon track.

Seems to have worked but I am still looking for a better quality pot that I can fit and forget.
