Title: Season 26 Formula Two Trophy Registration
Post by: BadBlood on December 23, 2013, 04:09:41 PM +0000
Season 26 – Formula Two Trophy

Another full season for the 1967 Formula Two cars. We continue in two divisions which may run on separate servers or as a mixed grid dependent upon demand.

So we can run two grids there will be two separate championships of mixed ability the reference to Heavy & Light has no real distinction on drivers ability for this series. Any new drivers wanting to join after the season starts please post in this thread - you will be allocated to a grid.

Please check the Season 26 pages for details (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=424&theme=6) regarding rules and the Formula 2 Trophy (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=425&theme=6)  pages in particular. One change to note is that to score, at least 50% of the race must be completed.

The races will be run as follows:

Car set: F2 Mod
Date: Every second Sunday from 19th January 2014
Time: 9:00pm UK Time (Approx 30 mins practice, race starts at 9:30pm)
Race Length: Long
Damage Model:  Intermediate
Server(s): UKGPL_T7_2 and UKGPL3
Race List: IGOR

Only one Reset is allowed per race.

The provisional calendar may be changed at the discretion of the Divisional Moderator.

If you would like to enter this series please submit an entry in the poll.

Have never experienced these cars, bar some brief testing at Zandvoort in the Lotus and Matra with default setups. Will see how this goes!

My mistake Boggy. When I process the registrations 'en-masse' it is easy to pick the wrong driver.

I voted to join with the Light, I will try to participate in as many races as possible.
Think I can anticipate the same choice for Piero and Marco hoping in their confirmation in short time.

As always, thanks for everything.

Marco if you click on the link for the "Formula 2" Trophy you are shown on the list of drivers - no problem.

At the moment we have 25 registered drivers - 18 in the Lights & 7 in the Heavies. This should be enough to run 2 grids but only if we redistribute the numbers. This is quite difficult because many of the Light drivers are closely matched. I have studied the lap times from some of the races in Season 25 & I am asking the following 5 drivers to move from the Light to the Heavy.
Marco Mercaldo, Doni Yourth, Phil Thornton, David Rainier & Arf Arf. (A message is being sent to these drivers). If you don't agree please contact me.

This way we should all have some good competition without the risk of someone missing out.

OK for me.

I would suggest, if possible, an alternative solution.

Simply distribute drivers on two balanced grids (1/2 of light and 1/2 heavy each) alternating at every race, more or less as it was done in the Porsche champ.

Thus would not be anything different from what happens when the group is reduced and you end up all on a single server, I see no reason to move pilots from category in a forced way just to build a starting grid.

Roberto,
That is a good idea.

I have come up with split for two grids based on an even mix of full time & reserve drivers & then on a simple alphabetic split - which gives a reasonable mix of abilities.

Will be shown in the first race post.

Since my post yesterday we have two more sign ups - this makes things quite simple.

If attendances drop off we can still race on one grid.

Bernie,
The registration is set up for Light & Heavy.

This did not result in a very even split (not enough Heavy's) so the series is being run as Grid A & Grid B - with a spread of abilities on both Grids. I have put you on Grid B.

Thanks for registering.

I know nobody will be fooled by the small typo, but just noticed that all the May and June events are one day out. The dates shown are Saturdays..

The good thing with the wrong dates we're seeing until fixed, is Spring has since sprung forward to take up some of the slack.  :-\
