Season 26 Amateurs Trophy - Round 1 - Mosport

Welcome to the first round of the Amateurs Trophy. We start the championship in Canada at the well known Mosport circuit. It’s a papy original track so not much to say really.

The race will be run under INT rules and only ONE reset is allowed. Entrants must complete 50% of the race distance to score. EACH Shift-R MUST be followed within TWO laps by a Stop 'n' Go.

All drivers have free choice of chassis although the faster drivers (you know who you are!) should avoid the BT11 and Lotus. There is currently no handicap for this series.

65 Patch: The 2.02 Release of the 65mod can and should be used. You need a working installation of the 65 mod to install the 2.02 Update. All the 65 Mod files can be found here (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Mods/1965)

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Moderation: Full moderation of lap one red zone which runs from the start to the exit of Moss.

Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

I am crossing my fingers in hopes that I will be able to race. I rather like the track, but it would be scary as hell in real life. Even though it is a simulation, I'll be trying my best to survive. Good luck to all the competitors.  :)

Congrats on a fine win Billy!   Obviously keeping your cool despite Rog applying the pressure.

GPLRA graphical race report would suggest a dull event;  but not the case.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Good race all! The amateurs are off to a good start this season. Sadly I fell behind on the first two laps, and then it was too hard to make up the lost ground. I tried to stay on the lead lap as long as I could, but made one too many mistakes, and I went down a lap. It was good experience for me to finish the race without using a shift-r, and I look forward to the next race. Thanks, WC

Interesting race - was shocked to be fifth with a sub 1:28. Wow - everyone is quick. First lap clipped the kerb out of turn 2. Spin. Last. Concentrate - make up some places - blimey that is Johnny P. 4th. Got to catch Dave. Waved yellows - Fezza. Bugger it's Walter. Ah well 4th is OK. Concentration gone AAARRRRGHHH Spin. Johnny passes and I try and pressure him into a mistake but outbrake myself instead as I cook the tyres. Saunter home in 5th where I started. Hard work for no movement. Ah well, at least I must have the FL.

Bugger!

WD Billy, podium and FL robber!

Looks like it might be competitive.

However the rest of the season goes I have been at the top of the table for a while.
I set pole time quite early & was expecting to drop a few spaces. Quallification times were very close & evenly matched for the whole grid & I managed to hold first.
For some reason I couldn't get first gear until after the flag went down. Johnny's Cooper flew away & I was grateful to tuck in 2nd. Johnny over-ran the main staright about 5 laps in handing me the lead. Just about the whole race I was pressed by Dave & then Rog. Fortunately there are not many passing places ar Mosport & I was consistently getting a good exit from Moss to keep the following cars out of my draft. The win was mostly due to not making any mistakes. Looking at the lap times I was by no means the fastest driver so I think I will hang on to the BT11 for a few more races. Happy with pole & the win - they are hard earned.

A pb in qualifying put me second and I got a good start although Billy seemed to not move at the off. He soon caught me though as try as I might I could not escape, I out braked myself about 4 laps in and dropped to 4th and had a good few laps trying to reel in the front 3 who were running at a similar pace to me and difficult to catch. I span again and dropped to 5th or 6th and from here tried to finish with some qualifying laps. I was making time on bb infront and passed him when he went off, he chased me for the last couple of laps but went off where I ran wide and let me run to the flag. Well done to Billy for the win and Rog and Dave for the podium. See you all next time.

Had some good racing chasing Dave managed a pass on lap 11 then tried to put pressure on Billy but no way to pass, he was faster out of Moss and was making no mistakes, lap 20 had to ease off tires shot front left staying in red all lap, and engine temp high, lucky held on to finish 2nd.

Grats to Billy on win.
