Season 26 Amateurs Trophy - Round 2 (which is Cut n Paste for 3) - Keimola (which is Finnish for Kyalami ;))

Welcome to the third round of the Amateurs Trophy. South to Kyalami

Not too much to say because this track is so well known. A papy original and a classic and long time home of the South African Grand Prix.

You do need to ensure that you have the pit wall in place. The standard Papyrus track has a pit wall but there are patches available that remove it. The absence of a pit wall will not stop you from joining the race but anybody seen by the moderators miraculously driving through the pit wall on the server replay will risk disqualification.

Follow these instructions to restore the wall if you have a mod that has removed it:
METHOD 1:
To place a wall between the pits and the track, rename or remove the kyalami.trk and kyalami.3do files from your kyalami folder.
METHOD 2:
To reinstall the original Papyrus Armco, rename or remove the Armco_s.mip file from your kyalami folder.[/

Our race will be run under INT rules and only ONE reset is allowed. Entrants must complete 50% of the race distance to score. EACH Shift-R MUST be followed within TWO laps by a Stop 'n' Go.

All drivers have free choice of chassis although the faster drivers (you know who you are!) should avoid the BT11 and Lotus. There is currently no handicap for this series.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 18-02-2013
Race Time = race starts at 21:30 UK time
Qualifying Time = Between 30 and 60 minutes, starting no later than 21:00 UK time
Track = Kyalami (Papy original)
Race length = 28 Laps
Variant = 65
Damage Model = INT
Race length = 40 minutes (laps 28)
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

65 Patch: The 2.02 Release of the 65mod can and should be used. You need a working installation of the 65 mod to install the 2.02 Update. All the 65 Mod files can be found here (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Mods/1965)

Replays Available here (http://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/inc_replaysS26_js.aspx)

Driver lists and rules can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=431&theme=6)

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Moderation: Full moderation of lap one red zone which runs to the exit of Leeukop.

Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

I'll be very happy if you all go to Keimola again and leave me alone at Kya.

Cannot get a decent lap here and I have never raced well at this circuit but here's hoping.

Not to worry Bad Blood, I have not practiced yet this week. I am hoping that I can just show up and be fast.

(I admit it is not a good strategy since I am a back marker   :-[)

+1. In driving several different mods there recently, I've been making up tenths of a second (and huge distance) just on the entry to T4, by braking early, getting the car set into a nice drift, just scrubbing a touch off to hit the apex, and carrying the speed through the corner while others are recovering from the demon late braking with the crossed up all panicked sideways and slow.

My race was ruined before I was clear of the grid as the car infront that was warping badly reappeared where I was- shiftR and off again only to hit the pit wall on the way in and loose my wheel...grrr. 2 shiftR and DQ'd.

Not looked at start yet,  but unfortunately sounds as if Bernie was having a real bad time with his connection.
I followed him for a number of laps & he was mostly not there;  which made it interesting running close (maybe? hard to tell!)  with a car that was not there.

I was only there for final part of qually,  but I'd have mentioned it if I had seen him acting strangely.

Still - as mentioned;  thanks for being consistent with your pace Bernie.   At one point looks as if the server had lost you too,  because although you were ahead of me,   prib reckoned you were 1 lap down.

Unlucky Paul;  still we took the places as they were offered.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Congrats to Rog and at least I didn't take him out this time.

Missed out on pole with 1 min to go and missed out on FL by some margin. Impressive Dave.

Two mistakes, first one was rectified quickly and got back up to Rog with 8 to go but just as I got close I mucked up Crowthorne, span and that was that. Put in some decent laps but got ragged as the laps ran out. Big disappointment but shows how far I have come that I can be down about two mistakes, no resets, leading for a while and finishing fourth.

Good racing and congrats to the podium - you deserved it.

Yup Sorry guys , with hindsight I really should have quit instead of wrecking your race , but I wasn't sure if it was me or the connection or a sever issue , I did get kicked off halfway through qually but there was no sign of warping then and no reason for me to think my connection was bad .

At the race start I noticed 2 of the red bars were up and suddenly everyone disapeared off the track  , I raced on not knowing what the problem was or weather I had been disco'd or not .

Throughout the race ? I only ever saw 2 cars , 1 fez in front and DC behind me , dave was warping a bit but it didnt seem that bad until I ran wide at T1 late on in the race ( my fronts were melting ) and Dave must have past me under cloaking power ! Although Prib showed me 2 laps down in 9th place I didnt know for sure were I was , soldered on thinking my true positionit could have been sorted after the race only to get disco  to the dreaded black screen with 2 to go !

Grats to the podium and all who finished , thanks for your patience Dave and a big sorry to all who tripped over me .

cant understand why my connection was so poor as its been rock solid until tonights race , maybe something to do with the heat up in this loft as its 7C tonight (  positively baking  )  :)

Aha!  after taking a peek at the replay,  I see what happened at the start.  As I was following Johnny away,  looks like he resorted to dirty tricks & suddenly opened a secret compartment in the back of his car & then dropped a hidden decoy car out the back... BAM!

[ok, so not really & no dirty tricks from the start either].

Oh dear Bernie;  hope your connection is better next time out;  as do you of course!

Yes Bernie - I think I was passing you up the inside as you were cloaked (from my perspective anyway);  then you started to come back.
I just tried to back out of it as soon as I could,   in case you appeared to jump to the other side of the track.  I must say,  I was glad when somehow I passed you / you dropped back,    not sure what happened - but that hopefully be someone else's problem ;)

Good luck with sorting that out!

Good race, sorry to hear about the technical issues. The wreck at the start of the race caught me off guard. I think that I bumped John's upside down Cooper at the start. Once I got going, I followed Fabio, and I was prepared to be the #3 Ferrari driver. However, Fabio had an off, and that moved me into 5th place until John passed me. My pace quickened after following John for awhile. Also, it was hard for him to escape when I could draft back to his bumper every lap. John had an off, and I was back into 5th place for good this time, or so I hoped. John followed at about 200 yards away for a few laps, and then Lucky for me he disappeared. At this point, I actually saw Bernie's car a few hundred yards ahead of mine with a few laps to go, but the prib was not accurate with his lap count. I virtually ran out of fuel on the last lap, and I was able to limp across the finish line. Good thing the FIA doesn't require me to finish the race with a certain amount of fuel in the tank.

Good race everyone, I'm looking forward to the next one.

I did notice your pace pick up Walter- before you passed me I caught you up mainly being quicker at turn 3 but you soon learned and then once past I could not keep up- good racing Walter. Congrats to podium and Rog on the win.

Yes, Congrats Rog on your win! Hard luck for Bad Blood. Regarding Bernie's connection issue, it appears that he completed 25 or 26 laps. If so, he might deserve some points for his effort.  ;D  (I have not checked the replay)

Had some good racing with Badblood. Starting pole helped me keep lead in and out of crowthorne, Badblood pushing passed me lap 9 then i regained lead when he spun at barbeque lap 11, Dave C again surprised me when he appeared on my tail lap 26 lucky for me crossed finish just ahead. Thanks to Robert Fleurke no probs with front tires over heating.

Last minute change of plans at work meant that I could actually make this race.
Whilst we don't have the busiest of grids everyone is quite evenly matched with some good racing. Johny contiues to drag some great times oot of the Cooper. Bernie was doing a Tardis impression on the start grid just ahead so I was glad to get ahead into Crowthorne. (Berine your connection at Nurburg was fine - hopefully just a one off). First few laps were trying to keep up with Paul & Rog. Paul managed a pass but then traded 1st for 3rd with a spin. My 2nd place was short lived as Paul's Honda was especially quick on the straight. Another spin by Paul & I was back in 2nd but this time Dave C was on charge. I held the position for a few laps until his Lotus powered away. If I'd realised he was that quick I could have played the team card a bit earlier so he would have a run at Rog for 1st place.
Championship table is very close at the top.

Quote
Bernies warping caused lots of damage in the red zone.
But it's not his fault and I have been told "that's online racing"...

Being the victim of Bernies extreme warping Johnny did more than the one allowed shift + r...

Johnny.P (John Pennington65) — Multiple SHIFT-R = DQ — excluded

As his first shift-R was solely due to Bernie's warping and that's "no one's fault", that's unfair, IMO.
