It is, but made me wonder why we are using late beemers on a 1964 track config  sounds perfect for some old fezzas and Jags.

Don't know this one but I think that the announcement should say PnGv3.1 rather than v3 in a couple of places.

;D  Matt been cutting and pasting from old stuff again?

as i'd never even heard of this track I looked it up!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG6WqBxl0W8

Hasn't been used since 1966 and was only in existence for 3 years upto then  :P so not sure why on earth we are racing top spec 70's Beemers on it, but will wait to be impressed with Matts choice of track/car combo  :-*

Hello people, I'm back now  :1eye:

There are two versions of the track, and I opted for the one that is called Greenwood P&G v3 because it contains P&G in the title
I have no idea what the differences are.

I accept MJs complaint about the lack of historical accuracy,  :-\  I tried a few cars here, not all, but a few, and this seemed
to me a great track for these Beemers, simple as that.

p.s It's not so much me that cuts and pastes, the system does automatically, and sometimes I miss what it's done.

Perhaps the 3.3 litre #21 Jägermeister Alpina should be excluded from group B Matt?

It has exactly the same torque as the 3.5 liter cars. Not much of a handicap I dare say  ;D

You may be right Stig, but it was the Jagermeister that I tested with and I was quite a bit faster in the 3.5 one
so maybe the stated figures are not the whole game? Either way, even if it's an easy drive for the Aliens
I would prefer not to change it now.

this place...aa-ahh, nothing but a ghost town....  (Specials song circulating in my head)  :(

Race day and we haven't even got past page1 in the thread, sad days :'(  guess im guilty as everyone as haven't done a lap yet. Will get some praccy in before the race this eve. Looks like the initial enthusiasm towards P&G3 is now waning after a year as seen lower grids over at GC too, and with AC being the new kid on the block it may get worse. Probably worth re-advertising our races over at No-grip again to pull in new punters or remind old ones.

LOL ...... just tried the 3.3 ltr Jägemeister ... powerfull stuff :_ ))

I did 1.51.500 on race fuel, which is 0.5 sec faster than my best in the 3.5 ltr !

As I said in my first post, not much of a handicap  ;D

Good fun this combo. Too bad I don't have the energy to do more races. I was knackered after 7 laps :sleep1:, so not much concentration left to focus. Not that I would've had the chance to catch Ed with his pace :thumbup1:

My first win  :jumpjoy:

Impressions later, an answer to Mark about setup:

Beemer have heavy engine right above front axle ... by lifting front end, you make mass transfer slower and less "in front of the car" ... other way would be by using stiffer springs but not on this racetrack.

Well done Ed.  Congratulations.

Well done and many thanks also to Erik.  Hope you can recover from last nights exertions in under your one week prediction.

Well done also to Jarda for third.  I was hoping to put up more of a fight for the last spot on the podium but my technique in the slow corners just wasn't up to it.  Once you were past there wasn't much that I could do but I sure as hell tried!

I made a good start and slotted into third from the off and had Geoffers all over me for a few laps before he binned it at the final corner.  I thought that he was just going for an early bath to get a good car for the next round but I see that he did have some damage.   ;D

I had MJ about six seconds behind and all was stable for a while but then I noticed that Jarda had managed to move up to fourth and was closing me down. I messed up the second corner about five laps from the end and he was able to pass going in to the right-hander at the end of the straight.

Great to see Eric on the podium ;D ;D.

Good race that, nice combo with a great car and a great track.  8)
First time I've used the beemers in anger so had a big learning curve of new track and new car. Never did get it handling or setup how I'd like but still managed reasonable pace.
Quailed 6th.
Had a poor start when everyone started moving and I hadn't even seen the lights yet! That dropped me two places on a track that's hard to overtake on.
Chased Matt and Jarda for a few laps. Matt fell off, and I had a great close battle with Jarda for several laps, passing him twice.
I then chased hard after Clive and Geoffers who had 10+ sec gap. Geoffers then parked up for a tea in pit lane so I closed Clive. With Jarda breathing down my neck I span out of the hairpin when the car spat me around though wasn't sure if I got a helping hand off Jarda?
Then had to close a 12 sec gap down to Clive and Jarda which took me until lap 19 to get them both within sight a few secs ahead but then, trying too hard and on a very worn front left tyre I ran wide at T1 and lost about 15 seconds and all my will power  :(
Cruised around on my own last 3 laps to finish 5th.

Congrats Ed on the win and the podium guys :)

Yeh, damage as in 0% engine health!  ::) Just got a back wheel on the grass & around it went, across the pitlane into the barriers.

Have to say I didn't enjoy this circuit, too much abrupt changes of incline. Watching the video Mark posted earlier the track had some lovely sweeping corners with lovely gradients, whereas the virtual track has abrupt dips & jumps. Bit too rallycross for me!
