Notes:

Great track,  8) I don't get why some on here don't like it  ??? and I don't buy the excuse about no-overtaking, have you ever watched footage of the VLN-24hr?  :o  Whilst I agree its seemingly impossible to learn it all off by heart without doing 500 laps, its still possible to learn big chunks of it and then do 8-10ths for the rest.
Shame we are only using Alfas (albeit still great cars!) on it  :(...cant we slip a sweet little ST into the mix? They are good company with the quicker Alfas. But no probs if not.

Im off to the Oldtimers event at the Nurburgring in August, should be fab  :)

Just saw championship standings so if you don`t   :jumpjoy:  as Nordschleife is my favorite track by far.

When I started doing GPL, with UKGPL, the championships were decided over a largely fixed number of built-in tracks and Nurburgring was included in every season.  That meant that it had to be learnt, like it or not.  Also it was part of GPLRank and still is as far as I know, so it had to be learnt.

Neither of these reasons for spending such a large part of the time I have left on this planet apply to UKPnG so I think I will pass on learning this one.

I have loaded the track and done an out lap and can honestly say that I didn't recognise anything until Flugplatz and not much after it either.  Just the odd bit rang a bell, which served to make me realise that I had done the preceding corners incorrectly.

I may still turn up for a drive through the country in these shopping cars.   ;D  Just to get finisher's points.

The first section of the lap is still a total mystery to me, as there seem to be multiple options as to which way to go...only finding the proper circuit by a process of trial and error...mostly error. Then i have to remember for the next lap which was the right choice!  :-\

One we cross that bridge?..(at least I think it is a bridge ) and move out into the country, I can see the familiar pattern of the GPL Nurburgring track. Granted the curves have all been sanitised and smoothed and I find many of them feel faster than GPL but I know which way the next corner goes and what is over the blind crest ahead..well almost  ::)

I gave this circuit a half-hearted try the other day.  Much as Evil notes above, I was completely lost in the early sections and also at the end of a lap.  I'll give it another go between now and raceday but if it doesn't gel quickly, I'm not going to spend anytime trying to cope with it.

My entry at this point has to be considered to be 50-50 at best.

Hmm, I am running this version mostly because the tourist one doesn't seem to have any start lights
We have run the VLN before in other series, I don't remember it needing a sat nav?

Well I really like this version of the ring and I'm not a ring fan  :) Had a quick blast last night and the Alfas are amazingly good fun around here and the track looks and drives very well.

If you're struggling to learn the track just run a short offline race with the AI and follow them around. It can't be that hard  ;)

Yeah server is set to Rouen I noticed when I tried to do an online lap tonight...tardy management  ;)

Did a single flying recon lap in the Alfa 1600 and put in an 11.00.1. So something for my fellow mortal drivers to aim for  :). Not sure if I had top gear long enough as the speedo maxes out pretty early on the long final straight. Not tried a 1750 yet.

I'm only 50/50 I can make Thursday which is a bummer as I love this track and the Alfas are fun here.

You do half a lap of the modern track then turn left just before you get onto the pit straight.

GR has suggested a longer Qual time to allow 2 laps + an out lap.
I tried turning right onto start finish rather than left on to the nordschleife
but it didn't work  ???

Re qually - personally i think it makes less of a difference here than at other tracks and I'd be happy just starting at the back. But if others want a longer session it's ok by me.

Not sure if the prob is my end or server end, but tried a few on-line laps last night and "lost connection" twice. Each time just as I tried to start a second flying lap?? Anyone else have similar issues, otherwise tonights race might be very short for me lol!!

I have had two "lost connections" recently, not just here, so it maybe an ISP thing or our server having a wobbly
which has happened occasionally in the past. If I have time I will setup my home brew server as standby.
I am going to make qual from 19:25, with just 5 mins prac so everyone gets the chance to do a couple of flying laps
if they want to put in the time. No flames please about how you can't join that early because you will miss
fondling your hamster or feeding the pirhana. As stated by Frex, here the laps are so long and people fall off
so much your grid slot is maybe less important than at other tracks.

To Donni: just a little concerned that you say the vid shows you what to do at end of lap, remember this is the VLN layout (rather than the videos normal nordschleife) so right at the end after the left right kink you get on the power and go left onto the GP circuits sf straight  :)

Hello guys, it is clear that I do not want to force anyone to do what I say, I just try to advise for the best (when I can), but I think it is a good idea, that of Matt, to use all the time for Qualy  :thumbup1:
Anyway, I wanted to point out that if we want to do Qualy with the day light you have to make Qualy 1, Qualy 2 is at night  :ninja:

P.S.: this version of the track, NoS VLN 2.21 has been modified specifically for not being able to make the cut (no cheat), so it is mandatory to do the rounds of full launch  :sweatdrop:

Not particularly chuffed having spent longer sat waiting for the grid to assemble then I got to enjoy going round the track.

Made it to turn 4 before another car going way to fast for the corner, pretty much t-boned me from the side, leaving me with a broken suspention & no sign of the driver waiting.
We were 4 turns into a 40+ minute race on a track that we rarely get to enjoy. It's really no wonder the numbers are down here. :no:

Brilliant first lap for me, loadsa fun, then lost connection at the beginning of lap 2. Bugger.

Lost connection as i crossed the line at the end of a 1st lap where I was just pushing too hard and making too many small mistakes  :-\  A shame as I really felt that i had a grip on this Alfa for the first time in PnG AND I knew 95% of the track...ah well such is the life of a sim racer  ::)

Looks like whatever caused this got both of us Evil. Strange..

Bugger, ive just finished the 4 laps all the time wondering why I hadn't caught the pack back up only to realise the server or I must have disconnected!!  ???  Everyones names were still in the drivers list so I just assumed you had all become ring specialists!  :laugh:

Last 2 laps were spent trying to maintain a steady pace ... very chuffed to finish 4th  :)

what was weird was I never got any notice or warning that I had disconnected! Didn't help that I was running on my own at that point having finally got past Alex and Clive and pulled a gap, but as far as I was aware the pack ahead were still out of sight! Glad I drove around on my own for 40minutes just for a dnf  ::)

Not had a Disco for over a year so must be track or server related as a few others disco'd too.  :-\

ps I saw the move that put Legzy out and it was pretty shocking, the other driver should apologise for a very bad move! I was the victim as well as I hit Legzys smashed car which was right ahead of me at that point and knocked out my headlights.  :(

Third on the grid but took the outside line at T1 and ran around the inside of T2 and T3 to emerge in front of both Federico and Giuseppe for the lead. Was able to keep a small gap on the first lap until we hit the long straight where I was passed to end the lap in 3rd. Some very enjoyable racing and chasing ensued as we swapped positions throughout the race. Eventually my DFGT became unclamped and I had to slow to perform some running repairs  :o

Congrats to our fast Italian gentlemen.....great racing  8)  8) And well done all finishers  :thumbup1:

During practice, I felt more comfortable in the smaller GTA 1600 and just wanted to finish this monstrous track… started last (16th) finished 8th without any drama except some door handle battles in the first 2 corners. The start went really well and together with frex (who also started from the back) we could gain a lot of places 8)

It amazed me that the smaller engined cars (1300 and 1600) could keep up with the bigger engined cars so relatively well. The car felt good and apart from some stuttering in the first few corners, I had no connection problems what so ever.

It seems that I got disco in moment when game loaded race session. Session loaded but without me on list and, after 10-15 seconds I got disco message.
Shame because I adore this track ...

Mark: I was still a little unsure as to what configuration was to be used for our race but on joining the server, I watched others qualifying and it soon became apparent where I should be going.  It proved to be NP.  :)

Sorry to learn that there were some early disco's.  In my replay cap, in watching Evil, the replay gets to a certain point where he's about to drop off the old Nordschliefe and enter the new part when suddenly, I get a CTD.  Something corrupt with the file evidently.  Will the server replay cap be posted?

I gradually came to grips with the circuit and my Alfa and was looking to close down on Phspok on the last lap...too far ahead but thought I throw a scare into him  :)...but I bungled the Mutkurve complex and shunted the little darlin'.  Recoverd to keep ahead of SS and hold P7 for the balance of the lap.  Four laps seemed to just fly by!  Let's do an enduro!  :)

Good race I thought, this version is a tad easier than others which meant less people ending their race up a tree.  :o
Had  a good battle with Bill G and a couple of others.  I bent the car on Lap3 so did the last lap with wobbly steering
and a wayward car, great fun though, Was well pleased to finish, as I usually get up to a decent pace then bin it  ::)

Well - in my opinion this was the best car / track combo this year so far.
Ok - I live 50km from the Nordschleife and know it well from uncountable
visits since the mid-eighties as a spectator only (unfortunately), but this
makes it a lot easier for me to master this beloved track.

Made a last-minute switch from the 1750 to the 2000. Had a bad start
as usual and could barely avoid the collision in turn 4. Then 2 1/2 laps
without any problems climbing to 8th position. In lap 3 I made two mistakes -
one of them damaged the car and I had to manage to see the finish with a
very bad handling loosing some places again.

But it was a very challenging race with lots of fun.
