Post by: BadBlood on June 06, 2014, 10:40:16 PM +0100
Season 26 Amateurs Trophy - Round 10 - Watkins Glen

NOTE THE CHANGE OF SERVER

Welcome back to the Amateurs Trophy. For the final Round we go back to the US of A.

Classic track that hosted many US Grand Prix, this upstate New York track produces close racing. Should be awesome. Gutted to miss it. Good luck all.

Our race will be run under INT rules and only ONE reset is allowed. Entrants must complete 50% of the race distance to score. ANY Shift-R MUST be followed within TWO laps by a Stop 'n' Go.

All drivers have free choice of chassis although the faster drivers (you know who you are!) should avoid the BT11 and Lotus. There is currently no handicap for this series.

Race List = IGOR
Server = T7
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 10-06-2014
Race Time = race starts at 21:30 UK time
Qualifying Time = Between 30 and 60 minutes, starting no later than 21:00 UK time
Track = Watkins Glen (Papy original)
Race length = 31 Laps
Variant = 65
Damage Model = INT
Race length = 40 minutes (laps 31)
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

65 Patch: The 2.02 Release of the 65mod can and should be used. You need a working installation of the 65 mod to install the 2.02 Update. All the 65 Mod files can be found here (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Mods/1965)

Replays Available here (http://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/inc_replaysS26_js.aspx)

Driver lists and rules can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=431&theme=6)

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Moderation: Full moderation of lap one red zone which is the FULL LAP.

Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

Sorry that you can't make it BadBlood. You probably could postpone the race so that you could make it. You are the boss... lol

I couldn't help but notice that there are a total of five six Amateur drivers with perfect attendance so far.

Hmmm - postpone the race - tell you what, that seems unfair so I'll just run a race offline and merge the results in.... ;)

If the grid ends up being tiny, I wouldn't mind running a 65 fun race on Tuesday 17th just for one last blast with you guys... unofficial, of course.

If you would like to do that, let me know and let me know what track. Papy would be easiest.

Sounds like a plan!  Mosport maybe?

EDIT:  ah - just noticed we've already been to Mosport this season.  Don't remember that one though...!

Sorry to hear RogUK, especially since you are leading the points at the moment. I hope that you can find an easy fix for the problem.

Dave C will have to play it safe finish 1st or 2nd place to win the championship, correct?

Nurburgring would be fun, unless you would like to save it for next season. For non papy suggestion, there is a new Road Atlanta track.

Silverstones 50th F1 race could make a fine choice.

If the grid is half empty at Watkins then I would not object to a rerun the following week - provided everyone else agrees. (Nurburg wouldn't be top of my list with small grids it would get lonely, whereas Monaco gets a bit too cosy. Something in between?).

I don't know if this will help, but you could try restoring the pc using a restore point. Or if you have low frames in GPL, you could try using an older rasterizer like Direct 3D or Open GL. You can make changes to the rasterizers in GEM+.
Good luck,
Walter

Hi Walter thanks for reply, win7 said restore was on but no restore points, d3d better than opengl at mo getting 32fps with no cars (lower when pass pits) but drops to 28 when other cars, in past used opengl and it worked perfect. Strange GTL with all settings on high works fine. have tried another install of GPL also tried 3 video drivers 9.6/10.02/10.9 and its still the same?

Just a few more ideas, but nothing that actually fixes the problem...  ???

You could use the lite65 option instead of full65 in GEM+.
Maybe try using a lower resolution version of the track?
You could reduce the screen resolution to 640X480 in the game.

To me this cod4 seems to have manipulated the OGL driver versions!

Just try to erase all ATI grapic drivers from your system.

First set your graphics to the default Windows drivers.
Restart and use a prog like "Display Driver Uninstaller (http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_uninstaller_download.html)" to make shure nothing is left of ATI graphics drivers,
restart and install an actual ATI CCC full package for your card and make shure it contains the OGL drivers.

Hi did as you said Cookie uninstall all with your prog, apart from this part did not know how (First set your graphics to the default Windows drivers), windows restarts and seems to auto install video driver look at properties/devices/display/driver/details version 8.620.0.0 also in task bar have red ATI icon, Try GPl set to opengl v2 in GEM .... it WORKS .... 35-36 fps even when pass pits, have res set to 1680x1050.
Thanks Cookie and Walter for your help.

No, it was more than that!

Congrats Rog.  Also Walter;  those red cars were really on it tonight.
IF IF IF IF...   but even if I hadn't have popped the engine early on;  I just could not keep up with you two!

Phew!  hot in here!

Was fun.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Good race Rog and Congratulations; season 26 amateurs champion and race winner!

I found a little extra speed in Qualifying using the draft and low fuel. I set a pretty good lap time, and then popped the engine on the very next lap. So I made 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears slightly higher for the race. I started between the two championship contenders, Rog and Dave C.. I was able to stay ahead of Dave at the start; so there was not much excitement. I had fun chasing Rog for the entire race. I watched the engine temp very closely during the race. All was good, and I was set to push harder in the closing laps. The draft was very strong, but the straight was just not long enough. I did not see any passing opportunities in the corners either. I'll just have to wait for the next race to try again!
Good race everyone,
Walter

Silverstone was a good suggestion, if you choose to do a fun race. The big question for me will be on the car choice. The Ferrari has been very good to me this season. I don't think that I could be happier with another car. Although, I see the BRM as a challenge, and I might give it a test.

WD ALL.

Won a bottle of whisky tonight so in the end it could have been worse. Thought of you guys.

I will run a race at Silvy next week just for fun. No password either so just turn up and go.

Congratulations to Rog on his championship win, there was some great driving. Rog and Walter were the class of the field. Further back I had a great race with Billy and Dave- I even had 3rd for a short while, really good fun. Nice to see Boggy too. Thank you all for a great season.

Cracking quallifying pace by Rog, Walt & Dave. Not seen those sort of times in previous Novs races at Watkins Glen.
Had a long extended battle with Johnny who is probably due a faster car next season.

Well done Rog - a fine performance to clich the Ams Championship. Have to settle for my share of the team championship.

Probably one of the best season's I've had in GPL in terms of a competitive field & some great racing. Unless I have forgotten there have been barely any incidents all season - perhaps a lesson for other series?

Congrats to everyone who took part this season especially Rog for taking the championship. Came to this race very rusty used last seasons setup but couldn't get near the same time and cooked the tyres early on.
Will try to be at Silverstone and looking forward to next season

Of course, from looking at the qualifying positions & the end of race positions - they are very very similar!
Kind of suggests we all pulled away in turn;  followed each other in an orderly fashion without any exciting moments & Boggy/Bernie swapped positions (maybe related to early retirement?)

But it was all a bit more exciting than that!

Congrats again Rog; you rounded off the championship in style.   Grrr :)

As this was mentioned in 65Am thread,  is this 65 or 67F1,  or something else...?

It is posted Dave and I thought a double header blast round Silvy and Monza would do nicely.
