Championship Standings (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=432&theme=34)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v3.1 from:  http://www.gtlw.co.uk/
(4) Watch our for pit lane speeding, some tracks support this.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface most of the time (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect

There are:
4x Very fast tracks, 4x Medium , and 4x slower/tighter tracks
And pitstops are only at half the events

There are 12 Events, and 15 cars, so there will be a choice of 4 cars at the last event.
The Le Mans Finale is the "revived" version, and (force field on) it's the one with the chicanes
After the way the last one turned out I have no choice.

Rough guide to track Pace and which events have Pit Stops:

Faster: Barcelona (Stop); Paul Ricard;  Spa (Stop); Le Mans revived (Stop);

Medium: Melbourne (Albert Park);  Imola (Stop);  Interlagos;   Mexico 67;

Slower: Hungaroring (Stop);   Keimola;   Portimao (Stop);  Albi 2006;

I know that it was clear at the start of this series but shouldn't the GT40 MkI say (Not Gulf) now that that option has gone?

It may not be necessary as I can't remember how they are identified in PnG but I can't look at that and be on here at the same time.   ;D

Just trying to help you understand.  Not a criticism in any way shape or form.  UkPnG is wonderful!   Is that ok Legzy?  Not being too hard on admin am I?

Am away in Brum this week so can't look, but I think the Gulf is a different car choice not
a sub GT40MK1 car. I will change the page if it makes it clearer for you.

Having lots of fun with these cars but they do tend to bite you when you least expect it!

The race announcement says it is Spa 2007 but the track download says 2004.

Is it the same track that we used last October or is it different?  And if so where?

I think that the server is running 2004 but wouldn't swear to it.

There isn't a track download link so it's a default track. I'll check the server and see what's running.

EDIT: Server says 2004

Hope to make this one too. Server is running 2004, I was on it tonight.

Think I will take a Pantera, I just haven't got the patience in this heat for the wayward GT40's  :surrender:  I'm sure they are flawed in p&g anyway as just too erratic too easily. :-\ but having said that I was quicker in one over a lap but would just end up spinning or binning it over a race distance.

As you probably can guess, i'm still pretty fresh at this, but here goes:

How do i know which cars to choose from? I haven't found a main "Knock Out Sports Car Cup"-thread with season and car info on it yet?

Sorry about the noobishness :/

Kind regards,
Robert

Ah, well that must have been a laugh :) Really sorry about that, just need to get adjusted to all things here. Thanks for your kind reply to such a stupid question!

Umm sorry for the confusion over the track, I think LM2 lists the tracks as something like 2004-2007
anyway as you guessed, it is the built in track 2004.

Welcome Robert, as Geoffers says the info is in the 1st post, it will say which cars are allowed, whether there is
a fuel or tyres multiplier (and the tyres are 2x for this event) how many laps the race is and when practice/qual and
the race itself starts. ANy questions just post here and someone will answer.  ;D

Please could someone test the start lights ? I am away and don't have access to P&G

EDIT: Oh yes, @Robert. at the top of the page are links to the various series under the heading of "series" I mostly add events
a month or so in advance, and the various series will run until the end of the year.
The Knock out Cup events have all the tracks listed, but they only become "live" pages one event
in advance as I remove the most popular car after each event for the next one. The P&G series all start with "P9......"

Oh rats!!!  just spotted that we have a pit stop in this race.

Despite loving the idea of the realism of having to pit, the stress of hitting the right button at the right time, and setting things up is all still quite raw and new for me.

The potential for disaster is enormous :scared: :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop:

Good job you re-mentioned tyre wear x2 as hadn't noticed that!  :P and remember you have to make one pit-stop  :o

Legzy is the world reigning champion of pitstops  ::)
I just let the game do it. I don't have a button mapped to engine start, I just drive into my pit stall - make sure you
have not stopped too short or too long, and I put it in neutral and the engine will stop after a few seconds
the guys do their stuff, then they drop you off the jacks and off you go. You can save time by presetting what will be
done using XD (alt? tab?) can't remember the shortkey, and by having an engine start/stop key and do it manually
I am 1:lazy and 2: have had bother with doing it manually so I let the computer do it.

It is the '\' key. Then use the arrow keys to change settings.

Thanks Geoffers, also in GTR2 based Sims like this you can preset the basic pitstop options in your car setup screen.
there is a difference in the way that GTL and GTR2 set the fuel. I think GTL the setting is how much fuel it will add
and in GTR2 it's how much fuel will be in your tank.

Check out Manteos' pitstop guide here:

In GTL the fuel amount shown is what is currently in the tank

But in the pit stop clipboard it is how much it will add I think, not how much the tank will have after the pitstop
which fools people who do both.

Balls another race I will have to put Down to a mechanical retirement  :'(. I lost all ffb again at race start so had zero feeling in the wheel. Apologies for being like a hippo on ice on lap 1, especially Alex who caught my spun car in Pouhon.  :-[. I carried on for a few laps but it was hopeless :(

Spa looked superb in the dark for qually 8)

Bugger!  :(

I mangled the time difference conversion and showed up fully expecting to join qualifying only to find the race well underway.

I told you so!! After a good first section of race I was running what looked like a possible 4th place finish. The 3 cars ahead were using alien DNA, so I did not expect to climb any higher  ::) but my pace looked good and comfortable.
Then...

Total screw up in the pits. In fact the pits were the pits!!!

Plan was to run long on first stint(10 laps) as I knew I could stretch the softer tyres to that distance. Leaving me a lighter car with plenty of rubber for 6 lap dash to finish....perfect  ;D

Got to the pits and changed all 4 tyres ...great...But no fuel??!!!!  stopped a lap later and tried again..still refused to add fuel...just squeezed a 3rd lap from the fumes and tried one last time...nope!!

Looks like I need to do some serious practising of the pit stops  :-\ :cursing: :taz: :taz: :taz:

Disappointing race for me too. Sneaked past Clive on lap 1 only to miss my braking point and hit the tyres at La Source  ::) Had to drive the rest of the race with a hobbled Cobra which wouldn't have been so bad had I not foogered my pitstop taking 4 tyres and a full tank of fuel >:(. At least I managed to turn off my repairs or I would have still been there now.

My xd is not working properly as I was unable to toggle the pages and pre select my pit options. Hope a reinstall is all that's required  :-\

Grats pody and finishers  8)

Oh dear.

You had set up to put fuel in on the setup I take it?

I just filled up with 72 ltr of fuel at the start and only changed tyres at the stop.

Pit stops do need practice.  In my case not spinning at the pit entry would have helped too!

I didn't think that the Mk2 had enough lock to actually get into the pits but John and Geoffers proved that wrong.   ;D

Well done to John an Geoffers for fighting those beasts to a podium finish.

I think that John out braked himself at Les Combes and my attempts not to get in his way meant that Tudor got a run at me and passed me at Rivage.  I gave him lots to think about on the way to La Source and he rewarded my efforts by going straight on.  ;D

Spa is always fun, even if there's no-one to race :)

As Clive said, I messed up braking for Les Combes on the first lap. Braked early, but not early enough. Threw it sideways and lots of opposite lock just saved a spin, but let Geoffers through for the lead. After a lap or two he got out of shape at that tricky downhill left-hander before Pouhon (I could never get that right either) and I went back in front. Reasonably plain sailing after that, just changed the rears at the pitstop (assuming that was quicker than all four) and managed to put 10L of fuel in by accident. Shame Federico left/disconnected, I was looking forward to a dice :(

Phew, that GT40 Mk2 is hard work, really had to concentrate hard the whole race.

Got a better start than John & was just about alongside into Eau Rouge but chickened out rather than force a way through. Got the lead at Les Combes though when John was a shade too late on the brakes (nearly overdid it myself!). Led for just over a lap until I caught too much kerb at the downhill left & nearly spun. John was clearly quicker so I just drove at my own pace & apart from a slight moment at the Busstop on lap 5 it was a comfortable run to the end.

I can't say this car is the most exciting to drive as you have to be so careful with it, but it is satisfying to complete a race with it.  ;D

Congrats to John & Clive & all finishers.  :thumbup1:
