Season 27 Friday Trophy - Rounds 1 & 2 - Efexx

We start in Belgium at Effex that most of those competing have had the chance to get to know this short fantasy track.

This seasons tracks will be easy and well known to have a smaller time gap between the lights and heavies,
if there is a too big gap on a track, a stop and go for the lights in the 30min race will be recommended!

The heavy drivers will allways have a free car choice!

This is really designed to be a fun series with 3 different car mods
- running 1 sprint length race of ~15 min and a ~30 min race with the same car.

This week will be 69X's, light drivers are at Effex restricted to any 4WD or wingless car

Qualifying 1 Time = 20 minutes, starting  20:45 UK time

Qualifying 2 Time = 10 minutes, starting  ~21:25 UK time
Race 2 Time = race 2 starts at ~21:35 UK time
Race 2 length = 30 minutes (30 laps )

There will be no delay between race1 and race2 so you can stay on the server after race1 is finished!
Drivers having missed race1 can join the server for the Quali of race2 in IGOR

Please restrict chat to only real necessary messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Races WILL be moderated for reported incidents only unless there is something VERY BAD happening!! so be nice to each other. ;)

I enjoy watching the lap times come down as I'm learning a new track. I managed to do 16 practice laps today. I hope that I am able to race on Friday. It would be a nice way to start the Friday series.

I should keep my PB a secret in the hopes that I do not lose any competitive advantage that I may or may not have.  8)

4WD cars are Matra MS84, Lotus 63 and McLaren M9a ;)

A shame GPL can't model the real advantage in traction of a 4WD, so it leaves us with more weight and slower acceleration  ::)

The "wingless" includes the Lotus 49 with its little front wings!

Wow, I had no idea those cars were 4WD in 69.  Guess that's what happens when you don't read the manual.

Congrats to Cookie, Andreas and Dean for setting the pace. I felt inspired to push harder, and I improved my PB in both races. Although I lost more time than I gained after running wide once in the first race and twice in the second race. When I went off track the last time, I accidently hit a button on the keyboard that effectively turned off the sound. So I stopped in the pits until I was able to fix the problem. Luckily I was able to get the sound back without losing more than one lap (I think).  

Thanks Cookie for the set-up! It really helped me make the most of my practice time.

Grumble..pooters..grumble.  (that's what I get for trying to give it presents!)

Lots of fun guys except I struggled with consistency in the 1st race and the 49 appeared to be at a real disadvantage here. It's shame that Clive didn't make it so he could whip me in an equivalent car. :)

The 49 looks to be real lousy for getting any where in the points standings but I think I stick with it through the season. Maybe it will help me getting better in the 67 version.

It has definite acceleration and straight-line speed advantages over the 4WD cars, slighter but still there vs. the full-wing cars, it's just not so suitable for twistier tracks.

Looking at the schedule, the only track that I think it will be close enough to be a viable option is Monza10k (and possibly Enna Pergusa). Stick with it for the season only if you want a challenge (or if you're a masochist like Clive).  ;)
