Season 27 Professionals Trophy - Round 2 - Adelaide

Round 2 of the 1965 Mod will take place on the temporary street circuit at Adelaide. hosted eleven Formula One Australian Grand Prix events from 1985 to 1995. Probably the most famous event was the culmination of the 1994 championship, between Damon Hill against Michael Schumacher. The title was settled in Michael’s favour following an incident which took both drivers out of the race. Please try & avoid any repeat performances on Tuesday as that will be rather difficult to moderate.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Race List = IGOR

Thought I'd have a change of car for this season. Even my team mate has changed his!!. What I didn't need was one that wrecks its camshaft without completing a lap. Unusually had not wrecked one engine in off line practice. Thought I was careful enough with the cold engine & gearshifts but ......    I'll try again at the next one.

Similar thinking here.. be the only Cooper in the whole 65 season (Pro and Ams?)! But my connection dropped on the grid... had an amusing lag crash in Q though, from rejoining about 5-10 car lengths behind Rob! I'll need to see the server replay to see what actually happened... anyway, my WRs at Rouen last night now look like a total fluke  ;D

Wasn't happy with quali, had too much traffic in real good laps, but Tristan's pole was very good.

Race started well, Tris bogged down, and led him first 5-7 laps or so. But surely, Stag Hotel caught me out, still haven't figured out that turn yet. Made a half spin and Tris could avoid me, a lap later I did basically the same, now trailing him 6s.

All race I was about 5-7s behind, until I found out I didn't have enough fuel with about 8 laps to go. Coasted most laps, tried to save enough to go for fast lap, last lap, but tires were too cold anyway...

Disappointing for the mistakes, and especially the lack of fuel. Doesn't happen often to me. Should have been able to fight with Tristan whole race, but maybe next time ;)

Grats Tristan and well done Ray in the BT7. Good job finishers and commiserations for the retirements! I said "one to forget" on the server, but will learn from the mistakes, and those first laps were nice on the edge with Tristan behind. Thanks all for racing and the mods for organizing!

PS: there was this new guy Josh (Kai Daum?) for a while on Pro server.  Not sure what happened but he isn't registered I think. Maybe Billy and David know more?

I do not know him, but he joined the Ams race. He qualified around third (I think). Unfortunately, he had to retire from the race.

Congrats to Tris for a fine win!

Devilish bad luck to come a couple of litres short on fuel, Robert, but glad to see that you could nurse it home for P2.

Splendid run by Rocket Ronnie to score a podium in the little Brabham BT7.  Simply admirable.

Sorry to have to say that I was just in this one for the starting money.  Not fully prepared by a long shot and grossly distracted by a series of major distractions.

Cheers Doni.

Grats again to Tris and Robert.

After the race I thanked Clive for allowing me to gather myself on the first lap at the Brabham hairpin. Having looked at the replay I can see that it was actually Tim I should be thanking. Apologies that my less than perfect execution of the hairpin on lap 1 hindered your progress.

Thanks Doni, appreciate it. Was just disappointed with myself after the race, but it's all good now. It was just a bad mistake. Once at oAo I told you about having made this mistake in the past, and having learnt from it. Well need to read that textbook again. Textbook error, a result from not doing long runs and miscalculating fuel due to progressively finding time here last couple of days, and as a result consuming more fuel...had calculated through a few quali runs...

Often I come up short at tracks I race the first time, next time I will have figured it out properly. Might have done 10 laps back in 2002 in a 312 or so, but couldn't remember the track. Awesome historic track. I like it a lot in the 65's! Tristan drove very consistent and clean over the kerbs when I was rather ragged inparticular at exit Stag Hotel...

Good to see Ray having a chance to charge up and holding his own in the BT7, respect! :) Next time out Uli back as well, should be a blast at Monaco!

Still not a track I am comfortable with...
If there is one corner I know I have problems with, this influences my whole pace...
This damn 4th gear kink onto the straight finally ended my race :-[

I have to apologize to Tim for the action after the hairpin.
Having left lots of room going wide there for you to pass, I was confused you did not show in my front, so I accelerated for the lefthander...
Luckily you could move on before the following pack, I had to let pass.

Looking forward to Monaco with some mixed emotions ::)

At least you know what gear to take it in - I kept changing my mind :-)

At the moment I am just pleased to be able to participate and get some points. I can now drive two handed after my accident, but can only give about 75%. My arm got sooo tired about halfway through the race, I had to back off and that ensured that Dean would have got past me even if I hadn't spun. Started to wonder if Doni would catch me too, but happily for me I got a second wind and hung on.

A mixed return to the Pro's for me, I managed to fix my FPS problem during qually (Turned out I'd forgotten to turn off Vsync and it was playing havoc with my video card and monitor ::) ) but then got somewhat over carried away with re-gaining the ability to throw the Honda around properly.
I think the setup I found and worked with dates back to about 2009, to say my driving style has moved on from there is an understatement!
I dialled out a fair amount of oversteer during a quick half hour before joining the server and while qualifying, but I don't think I got anywhere near enough based on how wayward the car was towards the end of the race.

I still haven't had a chance to review the replay of my incident with Clive so will apologise again for just in case it was me!

Fairly happy with 6th for a comeback but I think I could have finished as high as third if I'd kept it pointing the right way more...

Not a problem at all Cookie, I think I bare some of the blaim there for not counting on you trying for that line - I'm not sure I'd have made that mistake a year ago when I was last racing regularily - I'm glad you were able to continue.

Once I got into the rhythm, I rather like this place, although so many laps takes a toll on you! I remember the last race I entered here in this car vividly. Sadly twas not to be repeated, although good racing was had.
