Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v3.1 from:  http://www.gtlw.co.uk/
(4) Watch our for pit lane speeding, some tracks support this.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface most of the time (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect

There are:
4x Very fast tracks, 4x Medium , and 4x slower/tighter tracks
And pitstops are only at half the events

There are 12 Events, and 15 cars, so there will be a choice of 4 cars at the last event.
The Le Mans Finale is the "revived" version, and (force field on) it's the one with the chicanes
After the way the last one turned out I have no choice.

Rough guide to track Pace and which events have Pit Stops:

Faster: Barcelona (Stop); Paul Ricard;  Spa (Stop); Le Mans revived (Stop);

Medium: Melbourne (Albert Park);  Imola (Stop);  Interlagos;   Mexico 67;

Slower: Hungaroring (Stop);   Keimola;   Portimao (Stop);  Albi 2006;

Is there anywhere else I can download this track from? My anti-virus insists that it is so unsafe it will not let me override it & run the installer & keeps removing it from my PC!

No wonder I thought that I needed hard tyres for Castle Combe......................Just realised that I have tyre wear set at x2.

Penny dropped when none of the GT40s tyres would get me past about 15 laps!   Doh!

Sorry guys, I am away again, but only one week this time,. was a mad rush weekend with friends in Blackpool
and getting my car back from the fixers
I forgot to set up the practice server, thanks for sorting it again Tony

EDIT: I have started the server with this week's track rather than Castle Combe.
Please can someone test the track is the same as the one in the download link, and test the
start lights?

Err........
Take a bit more water with it Matt.  The server is running Interlagos, which as far as I know is the right track. Castle Combe was last week.

Start lights are fine.  It's what happens next that is the problem!  The AI are leaving me for dead!  Don't think that I can drive any of these beasts.  ;-(

Even the the Mk1 that I was happy with at Spa is sliding all over the place.

Interlagos is a really nice track, but do it with these tanks is very difficult and stressful  :tank:
At pinerino is almost necessary to maneuver, too narrow for big cars  :turned: LOL!
The Corvette Grand Sport seems very fun to drive even if rear sliding a lot  :sweatdrop: but warms up a little and eat little tires

The other interesting thing about this circuit is that is has the maximum number of corners that I can't remember the names of, can't pronounce after finding out and then can't spell five minutes later!   ::)

hmmmmmm!!

reading the posts above it looks like some of you guys have been practising for several days.  :o

Having just done my first few laps in 2 or 3 of the cars still available, I think I will need about another 4 weeks of practice to get any of them around here sub 1:55!!  Just wondering if Interlagos need a spare driver for the recovery lorry????  :-\

I have restarted the server (again) though it said it had been up for 49 hours.
If you can't log into it are running the right track? is it running the right track?
I think so, but again I am stuck in a hotel room and can't test anything.

Well the server is visible and I can connect.

But I lost connection half way around my first timed lap and the connection at my end looks to be solid!   :(

EDIT:  Further attempts to connect have failed.  There is no PING number shown and when you enter the password and click on the tick it just sits there looking at you!

I have restarted it again. I will setup my home server as a backup.

What is?  ANyway, please can someone see if they can connect to my server "simracing.org.uk-MR"
which is running the same track. Though I might have moved the open port to another system
I created a SROUK dedicated virtual machine but I don't think I have moved the open port to him.

I'm sorry but I can not try, I'm at work until 20  :-\
Have you tried to hear administrators if by chance they did the work on the server? ???
If you are unable to fix by restarting only the PnG, I think it must be completely restarted the central server.
I hope you can fix it without problems  :thumbup1:

I don't have complete control over the hardware, Last time I rebooted the main system it didn't come back :o
and I was unable to get to the ILO so had to wait while Pete or Dave could sort it.

My home brew is up and claims to be seeing the internet. Even is you can get to the SROUK server
I could do with someone testing a conn to mine as well so if we have trouble we can use that instead.
I am in my classroom next to Tower Bridge, and these classroom systems don't do P&G  ::)

Should have got that sorted Matt!

Giz a mo and I will have a look.

Hmm................
It might be me.   ::)

On Matt's server, I tried to swap cars during a session on the server along with Erik but had a CTD on the first attempt.

Then it let me in but whilst driving the GT40 I lost connection with the server at the same spot on the circuit where it happened to me before.

I shall download the track again and reinstall it.

err, was having a respectable (albeit on my own) race until I slammed into Geoffers stranded/stalled GT40 in the fast right hander.  :'(  Did hit the anchors and expect to be able to swerve around it but the Pantera just understeered into it at high speed and killed my engine and most of his car from the looks of it, swiftly followed by Frex doing the same.  :o

Looks like I was in the wrong car anyway as it was 3-5 secs off the pace of the Vettes and GT40 up front, but was hopeful of a decent haul of points. Got a good clean start (unlike some  ::) ) and soon found myself in 5th, where I stayed for a few laps until the early fall off vettes caught and blew past. Then was on for a good battle with Frex in his nippy 914 until said incident led to an early bath.

Had trouble getting PnG started tonight as it insisted that I input my serial# so had to hunt around for my dusty GTR2 cd. Eventually input the correct # just in time for quali.

A quickly hobbled together setup got me to P5 only to suffer a big freeze up as the lights went green  ::) Must something seriously wrong as I was having this problem in GTL the other night and thought I'd cured it  :(

Anyway race was fun and after a long chase after Clive he eventually made a couple of mistakes which allowed me through for a lucky 4th  :)

Grats to John and pody and nice racing all  8)

I should have gone with the harder tyres.  >:(

At the start, a combination of trying not to ram Giuseppe and trying to coax the Vette into forward travel without snaking all over the track resulted in my smacking the wall on the left and letting the world and his mate come past!

Soon found myself edging closer and closer to Geoffers but just when it was about to be payback time for the pressure that he put me under last week, he spun in front of me.  Unlike those who followed, apparently, I missed him.

I was just keeping Federico in sight when I noticed that Tudor was gaining on me.  Eventually I made a mistake at T1 and he was right on me.

I failed to make adjustments for the rate at which my tyres were giving in and not long after this I made another mistake and Tudor was past.

The tyres became a nightmare and even though there was no pressure on the last lap I think that I had at least a couple of spins!

With multiple cars, tyres and tracks we hardly ever do the same thing twice and there just isn't time to test all of the combinations over a race distance and it just comes down to guesswork!

A very short race for me, with my Elan made even shorter after connecting with the armour plated bootlid of a Vette. This wall of metal was presented to me as cars roared off the grid and parted just in time to allow me free  and direct access to said bootlid!!!

For Sale...

One race tuned Elan. 1 careful owner.
Unique and cutting edge aerodynamics to front end, with reduced length of wheelbase to improve cornering on tight circuits.
Tinted windscreen best described as snot coloured with streaks of blood.

Offers?

Was said Vette scraping itself along the left wall?   :-[

EDIT:  There's another Vette you can ram next week too!  Get some practice in. If the server is running I might be able to give you a practice target tonight.

EDIT 2:  At least when Matt is banged up in the Bloody Tower we get the results posted quickly.   ::)

was on for a good battle with Frex in his nippy 914

I was in the Elan - SuperSwift was in the 914. And yes, judging from laptimes was looking forward to a good battle with MJ and Doni; but Doni vanished before the start and MJ retired soon after.

I could see Geoffers stalled on the track a fair way ahead and thought it would be easy to nip by, but after MJ hit him it pushed his car into just the gap i was aiming for and then couldn't avoid the hit. Just one of those things. Surprised the engine kept going, but the handling was very much awry. Had another spin trying to work out how to drive it, and was thinking of retiring there and then. Kept at it though and once i'd reconfigured my earlier braking distances it wasn't too bad.

Glad i kept going as had a nice battle with SuperSwift towards the end. Hard to pass here though and Swifty was keeping it nice and tidy. Then on the last lap got on the power a little too early coming out of T3 and spun. Good fun though.

Congrats podium.

That was a tough race. The GT40 is always a (fun) challenge :) I got a good getaway (well, at least pointing in the right direction) with Federico right behind going into the first corner. I went a bit wide at T1, which probably worked in my favour as it meant I was slow at the apex of T2 and that prevented Federico from getting a good run onto the straight. After that I was able to stay in front on the first lap and settle into a rhythm.

I was trying to take it easy on the first few laps as I'd had problems with the rears overheating in practice and the obvious high tyre wear which would become a problem at the end.

It didn't work though, as Giuseppe had got in front of Federico before long and was catching quickly so I decided to forget that strategy, go as fast as possible and deal with the tyre situation later.

I managed to maintain the gap with Giuseppe for the next few laps, then he dropped back by a few seconds so I was able to ease off after all. Probably just as well, as the last few laps were very messy. The tyres were gone and I doubt they’d have lasted much longer, especially if there was any pressure from behind.

Grats Giuseppe & Federico for the podium :thumbup1:

PS - sorry Frex for the late pass. I thought I was going to catch you with plenty of time before the corner, but that little Lotus is surprisingly quick in the first sector!

Had a last minute call from a friend of mine, reminding me that the race was on in 6 minutes! So made a rush, took the 914 with exact same set-up as Spa from a few weeks ago (even same amount of fuel) and just made it to the start. But then found out my mate wasn’t in (unfortunately he had a connection problem).

So starting from last position, I waited a few seconds before taking off. Glad I did because now I had a terrific view on the rear-ending Elan hitting a sitting Corvette that I could just avoid from the emerging smoke….

I could soon catch-up with Alex and wasn’t that much off the pace with the other cars. After the Pantera/Corvette/Elan clash, I was in 6th position and run a couple of laps on my own before frex hauled me in. The last couple of laps were nerve wrecking, with both cars having some tire trouble. Not the best circuit for overtaking, so I could just stand off the heat and finished in 6th position.

As always, nice battling with you frex  :)

Congrats podium, see you next!
