Yeah, Lakeside is a great track  ;D

Moving back to CPH this weekend, so i hope to be able to join some races again.
Haven't raced for a very long time, so please make room at the rear of the grid gents  :wheelchair:

These cars are fun!

Well, they are up until I find out how fast I'm supposed to be going.  ::)

I have not tried it yet, but maybe it's another Corvette race  8)
But even the others are not bad, my favorite is the Falcon  ::)
This evening we will do some testing to find the car that best suits the track.
Such as lap times, I think we can just go over the minute.

GR is probably correct, but I struggle to keep the Vette on the road for more than 2 laps...  :o

LOL!!
Certainly for those who used the Vette Grand Sport at Interlagos, this is a piece of cake, does not have all those brutal horses  ;D
The Mustang I never liked them, I think, along with the Jaguar MK1-MK2, are the worst cars of the P&G  :-\

I'm seriously considering to refit the original track shoes on these Yankee Tanks.  They don't get worn so fast, and you'll have less problems, if you go a little off the tarmac  ;D

I've been the full route with these monsters.

That's all the way from "this is fun", past fed up, and through to "Annoyed!!!!"

I've tried harder tyres, which seem to give me the option of starting the race at the same abysmal pace that I'm likely to finish, should I make it that far, on the softer rubber! Bah!!!!   :taz:

That's not the spirit that built the empire Clive  ::)

I give you small cars and they are "roller skates", I give you power cars and the tyres wear out too fast.  :death:

Gimme an example of what you would consider the perfect car track combo, and I will run it if the cars can be matched.  :thumbup1:

It shouldn't be mandatory.

If it works for you then do it.

Meeeooowww  >:D LOL!
Federico told me that, in his opinion, it is difficult to finish the race without a pit stop.
I do not know what to do, I see how the race goes and then decide if to stop  ::)

Fair enough.
Pit stops are optional, but probably "advised" run to the end and go slower risk a puncture or do a stop, and go faster
not sure how long a tyre change would be here, the pitlane is an easy entry and exit.

After reading the other comments, I decided that I better do at least one practice pit stop. It did not go so well.  :)  I missed my braking point for the pit box twice, and when I did stop in the right place, the mechanics decided to make repairs when I thought that I had selected "do not repair." The good news is that there is not a pit lane speed limit that I know of anyway.

Good luck,
Walter

Cars in front of me kept disappearing for several seconds, and as it was very close race, I didn't want to risk spoiling someones race.

I think that was the first PnG race where I felt that I was anywhere near "the pace".

First mistake was getting 4th spot on the grid and making such a mess of my start that I was swamped by the rest of the field  :-\ Sorry to all those behind who had to take avoiding action.

So I settled into the race by sitting back and watching the action ahead..picked up a couple of places as some of those ahead ran off track. Eventually decided that I might have enough pace to challenge those cars in front, so I pushed a little harder and managed a couple of passes ( woohoo!!).
Then I came up behind Jarda and at about the same time I think Geoffers was making his rocket like recovery and was on my tail!!. I was distracted by Geoffers as we approached T1 and just missed my braking point> Apologies to J as I punted him off, I had to wait for him and lost about 5 places...but I guess that is justice. ::)

The rest of the race was a little bit obscured by red mist as I tried to regain those places that I had lost and each time I was thwarted by Phspk!!  and managed to let him off the hook by spinning at the critical moment.
The car was great and for the first time in PnG, I judged and controlled the tyre wear to end the race with just enough rubber to make a small condom I think.

Grats to the podium guys. I am still nowhere near their pace but at least in this race I overtook some cars.....quite a novel and pleasurable experience!

Sorry Evil for taking that position from you near the end of the race. You fully deserved a better result.
I too was chasing after phspok, but it was not meant to be tonight. I had a minor crash into the turn one barrier. Afterwards, I was too far back to apply any pressure, and then the left front tire started overheating. Good race though, I'm glad to have participated..

I can not help but wonder how the race would have been different if the ambient temperature was a little hotter!

-Walter

Well I was sweating cobs as it was!

I must say that I was deeply suspicious when two Kerbies turned up in the Vette and was even more dubious when Geoffers was vying for pole!

Judging by Geoffers' pace throughout the race he had obviously found an interesting little niche in the grip v wear balance on the L76.  Something for further investigation because I sure as hell didn't find it!

Anyway, he solved the problem for me by spinning right in front of me for the second week on the trot!   ;D  Good man.

The good news was that I seemed to have the legs on Giuseppe but the bad news was that there was nothing I could do about Federico.  I was on the harder of the two tyres on offer, and was not going to stop, and I just can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was not to have seen Federico heading for the pits!   ;D

My front left was on canvas over the last few laps and Geoffers had passed Giuseppe for third spot and was closing in but thankfully, for me, he ran out of laps.

Grats to Federico and well done Evil.  Hang in there.  :thumbup1:

Darn it, second week running I've succeeded in spinning the car early on. Fortunately this week no one else was involved, although Matt had to take avoiding action. Sorry Matt I just dumped the clutch to spin it around as you came into view.

As often happens though, it made it a fun race trying to recover the lost places. Got past the single runners at the back without too much drama but then came upon a frantic battle between Frex, EvilClive & Jarda. Thought this would take a while to get through but teamy Frex waved me through & then EvilClive & Jarda collided & made the job easy. Caught Giuseppe near the end & got a run on him when he ran a little wide off the final turn & got past at the end of the straight, we had a little coming together, but just a racing accident. Not enough laps left to catch Clive, but well pleased with 3rd in the end.

Surprised that the tyres held up quite well despite the front left being red all race. I was waiting for it to go bang from half-distance! I found the softer dry compound actually lasted better than the harder all-weather ones, so went with the softs.

Congrats to Federico & Clive.

Yep I was right behind you on the grid Evil - don't know what you were doing at the start but it clearly didn't involve actually driving the car..! No option but to sit tight behind you and watch several cars go by. No problem though, i was initially not going to bother with qually anyway.

Some good early laps battling away with various cars and watching a few fall off the road. Eventually came down to a very fun 3 way tussle with Evil and Jarda with much jostling for position. Great fun until Evil and Jarda came together, and with Geoffers driving away i was left in a big gap on my own. This was around half distance and i didn't fancy a lonely drive to the end, so took the decision to stop for tyres (even though they felt fine) in the hope that i would come back out amongst another group of cars. GT was next on the road behind me so i knew the team points would not be affected. Unfortunately though i simply came out into another big gap with no cars close ahead or behind, except that now i was much further down the field. What a brilliant strategy..  ::)

Never mind, was much fun while it lasted. Congrats podium.

Was a worry Geoffers, I assumed you would sit still not leap forward  :o
No contact so no worries. I managed to get stuck between two cars with a diminishing gap
at T1 Lap 1 and had contact from behind which sent me off over the grass as I tried to avoid ramming the guy in front
so had to play catch up as well, but again it turned out to be a good chase, thought Evil
would be beyond reach and was in a faster car, so I got an unexpected bonus when he
went off, and managed to keep him behind to the end, well he kept himself behind actually  :whistling:

No practise and no pace for me  :(  Used my Mosport setup but chose the white vette instead of the blue one I'd used there ::)

Had a decent start and made a few places only to put a wheel on the grass at the back of the course resulting in a huge tank slapper which must have been a bit scary for anyone around me :o Gained a few places back later through other's mishaps but gave them back again through my own mistakes. Was a pretty miserable performance all told.

Congrats to the pody.

Congrats to Federico on a fine win!  :)

Kudos to Clive for nailing down a most worthy P2!

And Geoffers!  Whatever you were smokin', please, pass it around!  :)  How on Earth you managed to recover from that spin to roar back up to P3 at the finish is one of the most outstanding drives I've ever witnessed!  Take a bow, mate!

On joining the server, I saw so many Shelby GT350's that I quit and came back with the Corvette as my ride.  In pre-race, I wasn't anywhere near as fast in the plastic bow-tie car as I was with the made-over Mustang but I thought it important enough to spread out the entry.  I thought about the other 'stang entry but...  Should have taken it in hindsight as I wasn't much slower in it than I was with the Shelby car and it has a wickedly cool engine note.

With all the torque on tap from the 327 CID Chevy, I decided to run a steady, conservative pace on the hard rubber offering.  I just knew that a pit stop for tyres would turn into a FUBAR(****ed Up Beyond All Recognition).

All in all, it just turned into a steady drive through the Oz countryside with the radio blasting out Motown.  :)

Kudos to Clive for nailing down a most worthy P2!

Cheers Doni.

I spent a lot of time practising this one as the bigger beasts are the ones that suit me best.  Not as much as Federico though!

I think that this must have been Matt's best concoctions yet.  Made even better by the fact that he didn't try to put an "alternative" roller skate in there with them.  I was forced to do a lot of practice races with the AI, and due to the difficulty of achieving the required car selection in PnG there was always some plonker in an Alfa or Twin Cam who wanted to pass via the door pocket of the Shelby!

I have just tried Ahvenisto and can also thank Matt for not putting us through the mill with any decent cars at such a tortuous goat track!   ;D

PS  Vicky Park on Sunday Matt.   ;D  Last point scoring race of the summer season and I have to give Simon a five place stuffing if I'm going to stand a chance of the season's honours.   >:(

PPS  Many thanks to Erik for the setup help. :thumbup2:
