Title: UKGPL Season 27 (2014) Friday Trophy - Panchine - Aug 22

Season 27 Friday Trophy - Rounds 9 & 10 - Panchine - Sport Cars

Welcome to the next round for the Friday Trophy this time at Panchine. A very convincing fantasy track imagined to be in North Italy. Fast, sweeping circuit with traps for the unwary. There are a couple of jumps, a tricky turn or two and very sticky hedges, so be careful. It is a relatively long circuit so space should open up, but slipstreaming might be crucial whether you are in front or behind.

This seasons tracks will be easy and well known to have a smaller time gap between the lights and heavies,
if there is a too big gap on a track, a stop and go for the lights in the 30min race will be recommended!

This is really designed to be a fun series with 3 different car mods
- running 1 sprint length race of ~15 min and a ~30 min race with the same car.
- ONE SHIFT-R with NO Stop n Go

This week will be GT's,
Light drivers are restricted to use a Ford (including the Mirage)
Heavy drivers will allways have a free car choice!

This track doesn't look that hard, but I've shamelessly destroyed a half dozen sports cars in one practice session.

Isn't it amazing how much more narrow this track is in the big GT cars compared to the 69's?  I'd swear someone has gone round and cut 2 or 3 meters out of the track width.

Yeah, it makes a big difference if you enter a kink with 280 or 320kph with nearly double weight  ;D

Congrats Mark, Axel, and Dean!

Man, that sucked! I was discoed in the 2nd half of the last lap in the 1st heat. I was on my way to 3rd and likely my 1st lap in the 52's. The 2nd heat was even worse. Check out the replay of my demise if you want to see some BS. I ran wide and started to slow to let Axel pass me and I hit an invisible barrier on the side of the track. I recovered decently and wanted to continue but my car was on fire. I went ahead and ran it until the engine quit. I was so annoyed I didn't feel like resetting. I probably should have though to try to see how much faster I might go with a slipstream.

Later guys.

Congrats Mark, Cookie and Dean! Thanks Cookie for the Set-up. The car was enjoyable to drive. I learned in my Wednesday practice session that I needed to take care when driving these brutes. My son caused me to be late for the first race, and I started from pit lane. I enjoyed playing catch up. I made two minor mistakes in that race. The second race was very exciting with several drivers in close company. Unfortunately, I had difficulty overtaking without making a mistake of my own. A little more practice would have helped out immensely.

See you all in two weeks one week for the Can Am race!

-Walter

Great GT racing at Panchine.  I was a lot happier with my MK2 setup than the Mk4, so I went with the 2 despite it being down on top speed down the hill.  Good fight with Axel in the 4, and I could put pressure on and take advantage, despite a couple of mistakes.
