Still trying to figure out if the TR4 is a curse or a blessing!   ::)  Haven't tried the TR4A yet.

And I didn't realise that the TR5 was in there either!  How come we haven't used that one?  Is it greatly different to the TR4? Apart from being +1  :P

You need to get your glasses out Clive, it is the TRS not the TR5.

The TRS was built to race at Le Mans in 1960 & 61 & was based on the TR3 & fitted with a 2-litre DOHC engine, called the 'Sabrina', hence the 'S'. The car in P&G is actually incorrect shapewise, as it looks like a TR4. If you Google the Triumph TRS, you will see that (to my mind anyway) it looks more like a Sunbeam Alpine.

Triumph made a film about their Le Mans adventure with the cars, you can view it here:

As far as I know (which is not very far) in P&G they are all the same pace.

I am a fan of the Triumph cars. The hardtop triumph is tempting because I've never used it before, and it was slightly faster than group B cars when I tested them ages ago on a different track.

So far I have been faster in the open topped, TR4A, job but that may just be that I tried that one second.

I must go back to the TR4 and see what happens.  The first corner is critical to a good lap and you have to be very smooth to stop the things from lifting the inside rear wheel and losing all the drive!

On the server, I was quite close to Federico's times with the Lotus but I imagine that the Lotus will be kinder to its tyres and thus a better bet in the race!  :(

I am reading it such that both the TR4 and TR4A are allowed.

I think that Matt would have commented on my first post if the TR4A were not to be available.

Unless someone can say otherwise, I believe all the TRxx are the same car with different paint jobs/skins
If one is faster, fine, as that is supposed to be the faster car anyway, and the Top 3 can't use it.

The difference between TR4 and TR4A in real life is in the suspension. TR4A uses an independent rear suspension (IRS) as opposed to a straight axle on the TR4.

In P&G it’s not modelled in though. As far as I know, all TR4/TR4A/TRS models use the same suspension settings in P&G.

Hope this helps  ;)

Yes they all seem to have the independent rear.

@Matt Does that mean that the TR"S" can be used also?

Edinburgh for the 2 weeks after that.
Normal service may be intermittent again, I will try to post some more events this weekend and next week.
I crave your indulgence.  :surrender:
If anyone has a track car combo they have tested or know will work let me know, as I could use all
the help I can get over the next few weeks.  :thumbup1:

I understand what you mean Matt, I am very sorry that such a beautiful city is held hostage by these people who continue to harass tourists
Here by us, in the north to more than 500 km from Rome, things are different, sometimes you find some beggar outside the supermarket, but do not annoy people.
I live in a very pretty spa town, also called the garden city http://www.portalesalsomaggiore.it/
Happy holidays, ciaoo

twice, this time we are going to do the normal touristy things like trying to wave at the Pope etc etc :D

Just tried the track and I'm getting horrible stuttering going up the first uphill bit and over the crest down the other side.. Just me or anyone else?

Runs ok here. You could try this.....Start Task Manager and click on the Processes tab. Right-click on GTR2 executable, click Set Affinity, and select all processors. This is system dependent but it certainly helps me a lot in GTL/PnG when grids get busy.

Never liked the Triumphs or the Healeys but I do enjoy the Elite (which I suppose is the slowest of the bunch  ::))

Ok thanks. This was me on track alone btw, no other cars. Usually get 150+ fps any other track, no problems running full grids etc. And this track seems very basic, although i guess the cross-over layout may not be helping. I'll have another look at it later when I'm back home.

Elite for me too btw..

I would say that my picture quality is naff but not quite as bad as stuttering as yet.

I thought that it was probably the number of trees that it is trying to swing through 90 degrees.

My aging Core2Duo and similar old graphic card runs it without any visible slowdown
I may be running low track detail/effects etc on that system though.
My i5 machine with more modern card runs it smoothly. I usually try hard to not run tracks
that need a top end system, VLM Ohio is one that I don't run because the last corner
is a slide show on a slow machine. Sorry if this is jerky for you.

t t t t t the s s s ss tuttering gogogogogot mmmme.

Offline was fine, but once I had a few cars in view on the server there were certain parts of the track where things did not run smoothly for me and whilst not exactly a slide show it made hitting apexes difficult.

At least it was an improvement on my GPL experience around here a few years ago. I actually felt physically sick from perceived motion sickness and had to leave the race.  :scared: :1eye:

I knew that I was going to be in trouble with tyres.

I just didn't know how much!

After ten laps they were not so good and the Lotus hordes were all over me.  Thank you to Tudor for allowing me back past after we came together mid-corner.

I had discovered on Tuesday night that there was little chance of overtaking unless the car in front made a mistake.  Add to that the fact that the only saving grace of the TR4 is its grunt out of slow corners and it did mean that a Lotus was going to find it hard to pass a TR4, since the only place that it was faster was in the middle of all the corners and I was sat there.   ;D  As I laboured to get the TR4 turned, contact was almost inevitable.

So sorry for the traffic jam but I wasn't there to make it easy.

Congratulations to Giuseppe.

Ah yes, that explains why I've had no problems with this track before as i guess we previously used the LT version.

I had the same stuttering at the same place as in practice and strangely was no worse with more cars on track, but also now had it coming around the last corner. Looking at the track map these are the 2 places where my car is pointing straight towards the cross-over section so i guess there are twice the number of trees to render at these 2 spots and hence more graphical stress to deal with. And i suspect my Core2Duo is even more aged than Matt's.. Only need it to last til the end of the year though as i've got a shiny new pc coming then.

Despite the stuttering the race was much fun. Had an early spin but with others having similar offs i soon caught back up again, and then it was a posse of Elites chasing Clive's TR4. Not sure why Otto and Federico slowed near the end, but that gave me P3. Good fun.

Congrats to Guiseppe and Clive.

Lots of micro stutter here too even after I had left the game before quali to reduce my settings. TBH it made a fun race more of an ordeal for me and took away much of the immersion/enjoyment.

Not sure what is causing this as I had no problems when I tested offline at the back of a 20 car grid. It's not just this track either as I seem to have similar problems in PnG/GTL whenever I race online with lots of cars close to me.  ??? It also affects my ffb to an extent that if Clive hadn't given me a flash of his lights I wouldn't have known we'd had any contact.

Congrats to pody and thanks for some nice racing.

Well that's very gentlemanly but there was definitely no contact with me, and no need to move over. Was I perhaps being confused with another car - there were several Elites all buzzing around close together, and easy to mistake who was who..?

It was me  :D Federico and I were side by side going into that nasty uphill left hander and he ran into the side of me causing me to spin. Good call Otto as I'd left more than enough room for Federico on the inside  :thumbup1:

I've had a look at my replay and can confirm contact but I can also see why you wouldn't have noticed.  It was just a rub on the rear right corner of my car, sending it into a lurdid sideways moment, preventing my getting back on the loud pedal.  If anything, the contact would just have helped your car to turn.

Thanks again for letting me back through.
