Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v3.1 from:  http://www.gtlw.co.uk/
(4) Watch our for pit lane speeding, some tracks support this.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface most of the time (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect

There are:
4x Very fast tracks, 4x Medium , and 4x slower/tighter tracks
And pitstops are only at half the events

There are 12 Events, and 15 cars, so there will be a choice of 4 cars at the last event.
The Le Mans Finale is the "revived" version, and (force field on) it's the one with the chicanes
After the way the last one turned out I have no choice.

Rough guide to track Pace and which events have Pit Stops:

Faster: Barcelona (Stop); Paul Ricard;  Spa (Stop); Le Mans revived (Stop);

Medium: Melbourne (Albert Park);  Imola (Stop);  Interlagos;   Mexico 67;

Slower: Hungaroring (Stop);   Keimola;   Portimao (Stop);  Albi 2006;

And the best bit is still the circuit loading screen!

This is the 2006 version Burt.

They have put a couple of chicanes in and ruined it.

In GPL there was a useful little utility that let you add graphics features to the tracks.  We could really do with it here as these cars are too fast for the track and you need to be jumping on the anchors before you can clearly discern the brake markers!  An extra brake marker at twice the distance from the corner as the first one you see would be great.  ::)

It's a roller skate circuit.   ;D

Team7 and I were on the server last night and pole position looks like it could be a 1:29.

I see that there is a version 2.3 of this track which has "improved detail".  Perhaps that would allow the corners to be spotted in time.  ::)

May I ask what cars are the more likely for this round? Having never raced here before and very unlikely to get much in the way of praccy time before the race, so not got time to try a few cars out  :( pm if you don't want to make it public  ;)

Hello Mark, I think I will use the Pantera, for this track I feel good  ::)
Even the 275S is not bad but destroys the tires  :-\
I have not tried the GT40 because, from what I understand, we want to use in Le Mans  ;D
See you on the track

I've tried v2.3 and it doesn't help.   :(

@MJ I've seen Team7 use the Cobra 427, Pantera BOSS, and Ferrari 275.  The lap times were similar in all of them; it just depends on how easy a drive you are looking for.  The Cobra 427 is not an easy option but Otto seemed to be able to tame it.  ;D

Thanks Clive & Guiseppe, much appreciated. :-*

Yes the cobras always a lively drive! Not sure I will get enough time to tame it so will probably take either the F275 or the Pantera  :)

Is it me or are the brakes on the Daytona Coupe the worst of any car ever?

I think that the coeficient of friction of France seems a bit on the low side.

Brakewise, I don't think that any of them would pass a Ministry of Transport test.

The AI seem to have brakes and if you try to race against them they shunt you up the bunty and put you in the gravel.

I haven't tried the Daytona but I think that Federico pushed it into the 1:31s the other night.

I found a spare half hour to learn the track, 1:33 in the Pants-tearer so far. :P  hard braking isn't its strong point   ::)

Edit 1:32.1  :)

Umm was so long ago I planned these tracks I'm not sure I meant the new one with the nasty chicanes
I haven't tried the old one with these cars I will give it a whirl and if it's ok we could change.

And I can't find the old version handy anyway. You'll have to deal with the kerbs, I must have intended
this version, perhaps I was feeling masochistic  >:D We will keep the version 2006, I have updated the link
Thanks for the link post CLive.

It's the sand I can't cope with!

My normal line at the last left hander requires dune buggy tyres.

I'm almost glad I'm missing this one!  ;D

LOL

Well as the car choice becomes ever more restricted I expect the next be be equally as challenging!

Will increasing the "draw distance" let me spot the damn marker boards earlier?  The first board is 200 meters from the corner but I have to brake at nearer 400 meters.  At that distance I can't see the first board clearly so it's a bit of a guess.

EDIT:  Just tested track draw distance at normal, far and very far.  >:(  Can't tell the difference.
Trackside characters doesn't help either.

The kerbs are shockingly bad on this track, obviously designed by someone who's never been on a track  ::)
These are more like the concrete kerbs you get around car park ramps! But then I guess they are the temporary type as it's an airfield  :-\

This may well be true but as nobody is going to die perhaps it's a good thing to stop liberties being taken.  They certainly unsettle some of these cars.

My pedals are playing up. Had a niggly feeling something not right for awhile now, and the throttle pots are definitely on the way out. I do have some spares already to hand, but won't have time to fit them tonight, although maybe a quick clean and recalibration will help temporarily. Hopefully be in the Elan if I can get them workable again.

I expect that the Albi chicanes will bring on the usual curb-cutting-farce, set against a chorus of "I was doing my best to stay on the track".   ::)

As always, putting a wheel up the kerb is not a problem, putting 4 wheels up or over the kerb is.

What a dull yawn Athon that was  :sleep1:  I'm struggling to see the point in giving up an evening cruising round an empty soul-less track with nobody to race lately  :(

Got clouted by Stig having his own accident on lap 1 which put me 10 secs down by lap 2 and then after dispatching the two fezzas I didn't see another car until lap 19 when the fast Italians lapped me. I was so bored I wanted to quit by lap 10.
So many good tracks in the world and we use this dull place. :-\

How about three and one just touching the moss between the curb and the white line?   ;D

Only kidding!   :detective:

Great race with frex tonight but as these races get more and more difficult the field will shrink.

Results and replay Posted

I got bored of spinning into corners so left, I don't like this version of the track, we had a good race here once
but I didn't enjoy it with these cars at all. Several earfuls of moans suggests that others didn't like it either.
Ah well, I might use the old one for a GT race sometime.

At least we have got rid of the Pantera!

I was slightly quicker in it than in the Elan but it didn't feel like a car that I could keep on the black bit for 26 laps.

I was tripping over the Team7 Panteras on lap one, one of which didn't do the second chicane at all, and as a result frex was able to jump me at the end of the straight.  I then spent the rest of the race, until about five or six laps from the end, trying to regain my 4th spot, or first human as I like to think of it.   ::)

I think that my tyres lasted longer than frex's and as a result I was able to regain 4th spot without too much drama and then found that I was closing on Giuseppe.  I think that his Pantera must have been wounded as I was only about five seconds away by the finish.  If it had been a 30 lap race I might have made the podium!   ;D Well I can dream can't I?

Nipped past Clive at the end of the back straight on the first lap, then spent the next 20 trying to keep ahead, until I just missed my braking by a small amount at that same corner and went slightly wide. That's all Clive needed to get through but to be fair he was significantly quicker than me in the latter stages of the race, so no complaints. Good fun, and congrats podium.

..or first human as I like to think of it.   ::)

Indeed..

Oh yes, and shame about the low turnout, but maybe the England game (and other Internationals) was a factor. Hopefully better numbers next week.

Being behind Giuseppe at a distance of around 10-15 seconds for most of the race, it was as if someone had lit a smoky bonfire at each corner.  ::)

Sorry, gents, but I could have made this round but all the negative press about the circuit's gimmicky chicanes put me off.  If it didn't have those ala the GPL version, I would have been there no question.  Sorry, again...
