Season 27 Professionals Trophy - Round 4 – Pacific Raceway

Round 4 of the Pro Championship will be hosted in Washington State of the west coast of the USA. The track has been used on a couple of occasions in the past but please make sure you have the 67 version – download from the link. It is typical of tracks built for Can Am muscle cars with a long, wide straight, an essess section & a dog-leg turn. Similar to Riverside but rather more green. The back part of the course is quite narrow.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

I cannot join the UKGPL_8 practice server for paci67 via IGOR. It just says track not installed?

For the record the correct track is installed and says so in both my GPL track folder and Gem.

However I have no trouble joining the UKGPL_8 practice server for paci67 direct via the IP address.

Weird?

I had this myself with an other track, couldn't join my own server.
It's a bug in IGOR with the season.ini, look if all tracks info in the season.ini is correct.
GEM meshes up sometimes the season.ini when sorting by directory ;)

The updated versions of Rouen do this also - It's really annoying!

Look familiar?

Pretty much, some turns are wider, and the straight has been made tighter early on nowadays...and I'm going way faster!  :P

Its getting to be a bad habit writing these whilst the race is going on, Happy with my qually time only a few hundredths from a PB. Collision on lap one at turn 3a which I think is within the mods area left me last of the runners (12th) following K L's Ferrari. For a time FMG was slumming it at the back but he soon cleared off using all of the road & some of the grass leaving me to chase Mr L. Got past when he made an error & ARF as well the same but then, you've guessed it, the engine blew not sure when but well before half way. My fault no doubt. Still really enjoyed it whilst it lasted ;D. Ready for the next one where I really will have to try & finish :).

Finished 4th, did not deserve to finish 4th. Warp factor "whereareya" took hold on L2 as I was behind FMG, and then he got a swap on that I could not avoid. Lag was a problem here for me, mainly because the frame rate kept going so low when other cars were nearby.

Sometimes, when someone gives you the most minor tap after being unable to avoid your unexpected early braking in a section that you were making up time and distance on them every lap of the race except that one, and it ends up not costing you any points or positions, you just gotta say, "That's racing", and move on.

Especially when you've ended the other guy's race twice in a row.  ::)

Well......I did not start the race with a huge expectation as I had never driven this version of Pacific Raceways before, although I knew the old track quite well. Goodwood had taken care of the weekend and therefore I only had 20 mins in qually to get sorted.
I concentrated on race setup and ignored any idea of posting a banzai lap ending up around 7th?? place I think.

This track has more of a flow to it than the old one and many of the corners seem more open, plus of course the straight is straight  ;D  The old track always produced casualties and I was not so sure that this version would be quite so hard, but one by one cars ahead ran wide or tangled and I crept up the leader board.

I have not had a chance to look at the replay yet ( maybe this evening), but I did remember to save it this time as I think someone ( RF??) was on my outside at about half distance and then they vanished, so I'm unsure whether there was contact or not. Apologies if I was at fault there.  ???

I know that Robert closed up on me at least twioce in the latter stages and I had to drive VERY defensively for the last 10 laps. Every lap we were closing on Uli who was managing the gap ahead and I was frustrated that I could not push harder to get up to him, but with Robert all over my gearbox I dare not risk it!! :-\

That chequered flag has never looked so good and to steal a 2nd place ( subject to moderation of course ;) ) was better than I could have expected.

No worries Clive. I admit I was pretty frustrated after the race, but it was more my own driving...

First gave too much room after the start and hit the sand at the kink and lost 3 spots having a tankslapper. Then made an awkward pass on Axel, going wide, he happily noticed me, but Tim went sideways and Jethro couldn't avoid him...I think that was a chain reaction...

Then got stuck behind Tristan who was warping, especially when I got to his bumper, he warped a few times into my car leaving me to check up and I lost out on the exits, as I didn't want to wreck him...then spun, lost about 10s, but got back to Jethro when he had a halfspin. Then got back up to Clive, who made a mistake, we went 2 wide, I thought I gave enough room, but we touched. Racing incident so won't report it... ;)

Got back to Clive again, I was better in the curvy parts but it's so tight you can't make a clean pass without cooperation and Clive just ran very smart. He had better topspeed (I ran too low tirepressures), struggled to get a tow, also he was good out of the last turn. Spun again, and got back to Clive once again, couldn't get a run when he was mirrordiving towards the hairpins, but I'm happy I didn't wreck him. Had to check up a lot, and couldn't run close to him in the fast chicane.

Towards the end I had a run having a tow, but misjudged it as Clive took the outside lane leaving me on the grass...was very frustrated TBH, ofcourse Uli managed his race but I think I should have raced for the win...

Grats Uli and very good job Clive not breaking under the pressure. You ran better the longer the race and you're just a great racer! Well done finishers and commiserations to the retirements..

PS: I hope you can fix your wheel Ray, or get another one ;)

Warp factor "whereareya" took hold on L2 as I was behind FMG, and then he got a swap on that I could not avoid.

It wasn't necessarily lag Jethro, Cookie had a bit of a wobble and I had to back off suddenly - In my replay you were unsighted of him so would have had no chance to avoid me anyway.

I started to regain places after rejoining but then my GF came home and spent 10 minutes berating me over the fact a spider had built a web across the garden path  ::) - All of this during an extended 3 way battle with Doni and Dean (I think).
This resulted in my driving unsurprisingly going to pot as I was then expected to discuss the fitment of locks to a gate and what's in the cinema etc..  :death:

I never got my concentration back and after several spins exited upside down after messing up the fast chicane section and running up the wall :(

Again, the pole has brought the victory!
But it was hard to realize. Robert starts very powerfull - absolutely World-Record in his first run set me under heavy pressure. To improve my personal besttime I needed four efforts until I finally found the scarce tenth! Fantastic practice fight, thanks to you Robert!
But that was already my highlight for this race.
After I won the start, it was very easy to hold the lead because of the hard duels of all my followers.
Congratulations to you Clive and you Robert, fantastic race you both did.
Looking forward in East London

Thank you Uli, it's always great to have you around, you push and motivate me too :) Really good controlled win, I'm sure we will have battles coming races at the front ;)

In hindsight I regret not enjoying the race as much as I should. But now I do  ;D Watched replay and there was some good driving and racing going on. Now I can laugh about it, the mistakes, the contact and pushing like hell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zxNnyfSLTk).

Thanks guys, it's fun to race in UKGPL Pro :)

Hi :)   .....well ....what to said !?...   that I was training on the wrong track before discover my error, but it's not so important "cause the 2 track are very similar .....
.....I take a good start and soon gain 2 places and I was second behind Uli after 12 laps ( the race is still very long....) and as everybody seen , it's realy not so easy to overtake, even when you don't close the doors.......so you need mutch patience even if you think you'r quicker.....and very carefull when you race so close.....      .....and I'm a little bit surprise from you Cookie , you have enought experience to know that it's not possible to overtake in this airpin....  !!... and again , the race was far away to be finish......    ......so after a rear stunt, I finish on the helmet, 4 wheels in the air.......np Cookie :/ .......but I have to report it......hum....you know, I don't like to do sutch thing but ....................it's the lowwwwwwwwwwww of the west !  ;)

cya at East London.......

From the mod report: "Server replay time: 0h01m19s Norm has the lead into straight. Dean is a bit quicker..."

Why are drivers notified about driver reported incidents, so they have a chance to have their side of the story heard, but not red zone incidents?

As this is not a case of being penalized for interfering with a driver who has an unpredictable sloppy (and ends up ending my race later, many thanks for the apology, btw), it's more curiosity than complaint.

Dean,
In the reporting system, if your name is ticked as being involved in an incident then you get an automatic notification.
Red zone is fully moderated so if you are involved in a red zone incident & you want to make your views known then please file a report.

Sorry to Doni for lap 9, I was further over than I thought. Contact was my fault.

As for the earlier incidents, I think the mods missed a teaching moment about the value of not moving over into a space you can rightly expect someone else may be occupying. The incidents on lap 1 and 2 are almost identical in set-up. I didn't move over when Arf disappeared from my mirrors (though according to the rules here I would have been justified in doing so), and I didn't get taken out.
