Season 27 Friday Trophy - Rounds 17 & 18 - Enna Pergusa - CanAms

Welcome to the next round for the Friday Trophy. The Autodromo di Pergusa circles lake Pergusa in Siciliy.
During the 1960s, the track hosted various sportscar events such as the Coppa Citta di Enna and later in the 1970s the Coppa Florio.
Historically it did host a non-championship Formula 1 Race, the Mediterranean Grand Prix.  There are no chicanes & no left hand turns. Being a short, high speed track it should produce some close racing & drafting opportunities. Watch out for turn 4, the entry looks a lot faster than the exit.

This seasons tracks will be easy and well known to have a smaller time gap between the lights and heavies,
if there is a too big gap on a track, a stop and go for the lights in the 30min race will be recommended!

This is really designed to be a fun series with 3 different car mods
- running 1 sprint length race of ~15 min and a ~30 min race with the same car.
- ONE SHIFT-R with NO Stop n Go

Light drivers are restricted to not use the big 4: McLaren M8F+D, Lola T260 and Shadow MK2
Heavy drivers will allways have a free car choice!

Scrappy and difficult stuff for me.  Grats to Iestyn.  Bit of luck with a mosquito (which I shall name Gerald  :P  )  terrorising Axel granted me a win in race 2.  Very tough to keep the left rear alive round this track.  Farewell Enna!

Yeah, Gerald R.I.P.  :punk:
I got him after the race when he drove me crazy  :2guns:  >:D

My car was set up perfect without any problems, but it needed some laps to get the tyres optimum.

Imola will be more challenging  ;)

Congratulations Mark, Iestyn, and Axel!

That was fun once again.

My gambling on gearing choices just doesn't seem to pay off. I was geared to hit 215 mph in the slipstream! Once I lost the slipstream in the 2nd heat I was in trouble. The high gearing was losing me about the same amount of time that Mark and Axel were pulling away from me. Knowing my luck, had I chosen the best gearing for no slipstreaming, I would have stayed with or caught Mark and Axel and then blew my engine.

I hate putting myself at a slight disadvantage to Mark and Axel by driving the Ferrari but it's one of my favorite cars to drive in GPL. I'm almost totally dependent upon staying in the slipstream to have a chance against them. It is fun and challenging though. I can't make a single mistake to have a chance of beating them, but I'll keep trying.

Thanks guys.
