Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v3.1 from:  http://www.gtlw.co.uk/
(4) Watch our for pit lane speeding, some tracks support this.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface most of the time (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect

There are:
4x Very fast tracks, 4x Medium , and 4x slower/tighter tracks
And pitstops are only at half the events

There are 12 Events, and 15 cars, so there will be a choice of 4 cars at the last event.
The Le Mans Finale is the "revived" version, and (force field on) it's the one with the chicanes
After the way the last one turned out I have no choice.

Rough guide to track Pace and which events have Pit Stops:

Faster: Barcelona (Stop); Paul Ricard;  Spa (Stop); Le Mans revived (Stop);

Medium: Melbourne (Albert Park);  Imola (Stop);  Interlagos;   Mexico 67;

Slower: Hungaroring (Stop);   Keimola;   Portimao (Stop);  Albi 2006;

This is one of those tracks where Note 5 comes into play methinks..........

yep, we have been here before, the greyish parts of the track outside the white lines are track surface to me
the grey green areas are also track surface. (SOme may argue that point, but experience says that there
is no point trying to police it as it just makes the race pointless and tedious.)
The really green stuff is grass, that is not track surface  ::)
The white concrete half tyres will kill you if you get too brave with cutting corners.
Keep two wheels on the "track surface" at all times.

I do like this track, has a really nice flow to it, can tell it was an F1 track from the good old days  8)
It's made for a 60's Porsche with these flowing curves, in fact I think I had a shock win here back in the popular old GTL days in a 911  :)
Only tried the Fezza 275 so far, feels good but bet a nicely driven Cobra will have the edge. Wish I had enough spare time to get the rhythm to do this place justice.

LOL, I put just two wheels on the green bit and ended up with the lap not counting.  This track takes care of itself!

Clive is right. Some corners the cut track detection is quite harsh, others it is very relaxed
Do a few laps and watch out for cut track warnings or you may be annoyed in the race
when you get a stop and go.

.......... or you may be annoyed in the race
when you get a stop and go.

Or you may get annoyed because you didn't notice the SnG and then get disqualified.   ::)

I also like this track.  It was the venue for my first ever on-line GPL race.  And I finished with all my wheels still on the car!

Cobra is fun!

And me please!!!!  ;D

I take it that everyone is steering clear of the GT40 & saving it for Le Mans.

Talking of Le Mans, there is a new version of the current track available at NoGrip:

http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=40901

I haven't actually tried it yet, but it may be a bit more realistic than the old FrankF55 based revived one we normally use.

I'll probably be wheeling the Elan out of the garage again. And expecing a high attrition rate (again) with those concrete half tyres..

WARNING

I don't know if setting the server is different to setting up a race weekend on my pc but when I set the race duration to 21 laps, PnG gives me 22.

See what it says before the start and put an extra spoonful in if required.  ;D

EDIT:  Practice server seems to be able to set 21 laps so perhaps it's just me.  ::)

I'll be there if at all possible, but for how long this time I wonder. I might break my current short-duration record of 1½ lap ;D

After a period of absence, I'm back in the wars today.  :)

Question: I've noted that cutting a corner in practice results in a lap being scrubbed.  In the race, would this result in a 'stop-n-go' penalty?

Not usually one, typically 3 cuts gets you a stop/go, sometimes 3 gets you black flagged and disqualified....

Disappointing qualifying but I started shooting Wednesday 'evening after another computer error >:(.
Congratulations to the first two for qualifications (F275 Speciale ;D).

I wanted to apologize to Clive at the hairpin I hit problems "LAG" !!

I was hoping to take you back to the end of the race on the last lap but I entered the wrong gear :-\ and spun.

Good race I enjoyed it :).

Ciaoo to the next.

Results and Replay Posted
I love this track, used to like in GPL and it works well with these cars I think.
Was having fun chasing Doni while trying not to block Geoffers who was keen to
get after the leaders, without losing time to Doni, Geoffers spun while
probably trying to miss my fat American rear  :( I went over the fence
a lap or so later and bent the suspension so parked it.

Apologies to my all for my total b*lls up off the grid  >:(  Hope it did not ruin anyone's race.

From my restart in last place I had a great battle with GT's growling monster all the way to the flag...great fun GT. I thought I had pushed you hard enough to wear more of your tyres than I was using of mine, but I had no answer to the horsepower in the final laps as my tyres evaporated.

Grats to Clive and the podium...well done Doni  ;)

Had a shocker tonight, race was a complete non entity for me  :-[ had expected to be home an hour before the race tonight to get some practise in but alas I got home at 8.15 then had trouble getting P&G going for some reason so finally joined at qually time  :'(. Then changed my car 3 times!
For the race I thought my soft tyres would never last so put green spots on...which promptly showed me they were too hard cold and grip less  :(. Was about 35 secs down by lap 6 and couldn't keep the car in the right direction so had to give up in despair. Sorry guys, poor effort on my behalf. At least I lasted longer than 3 others  :P

Thought I'd go for the Daytona as I don't think I've ever raced it and was surprised to find it was the most popular choice. What a great car  8) unfortunately I didn't have the time to explore setup or practise so couldn't really do it justice. Even so, spinning it a couple of times was not very clever but at least it gave me some great chasing/racing with Clive.

Well I think that was absolutely marvelous!!!

No problem Federico.  I didn't feel a thing.  ;D

And thanks Evil.  I went off the Elan because I couldn't ever see it passing any of these monsters.

I came to the Daytona quite late, about Wednesday, after I had encountered both Matt and Federico on the server and not being able to match their times.  :(

I slapped my 427 setup on it, adjusted the FD ratio and gave it a go.  Whereas the 427 suffered from lack of rear grip, especially at the end of the race, the Daytona suffered from not enough front grip.  So I stiffened the rear ARB and softened the front.  It made it much better.  I also ran the lowest ratios that I could and I think that this gave me the edge over Federico.  I also learnt. in practice that I could more or less take the left-hander second from home without a lift by changing up on the way in.  It was very quick through there.

Geoffers' qually pace was an eye opener but I would have put a substantial sum on his not being the first to reach T1.  ;D

I made a few mistakes, one of which let Federico have the lead for half a lap but I think that my setup was just a tad better than his.

Definitely a feather in my cap to beat Federico on equal machinery and to say I'm a bit chuffed in putting it mildly!   ;D

Thanks to Federico fore a great race and congratulations to Doni on his podium appearance.

Naturally I was heartbroken to see Geoffers and frex playing Kerbie-Bookends after Geoffers had found a concrete polo mint whilst trying to pass Matt.   ::)

How about a series based on these cars and the original GPL tracks?

Considering that we were using the "leftovers" from this series, the cars were all well matched over a lap.  Thanks Matt.   :thumbup2:  Well done that man!

Ahem, as bad as my driving was, I finished 6th as Matt, Frex and Geoffers had already retired, yet the result is showing me 7th. Matt has even left the server before I gave up. I need all my points in the table fight with Frex  :P

The lap records look half baked too as there is no sign of Geoffers' blistering lap in qually.

The lap records look half baked too as there is no sign of Geoffers' blistering lap in qually.

That's because the existing qualifying record is a rogue time from a previous race of 3.142s!  :o :o :o

I seem to be going through one of my occasional bad spells, this being my 4th successive race (1 at NG, 2 at GC + this one) where I have crashed out. My start was one of my worst ever, I was never going to get to T1 first against the Daytonas, but the noise from them completely drowned out the sound of my engine & when I was slow off the line I gave it some more throttle. Mistake, the reason I was slow away was too much throttle & wheelspin, giving it more just made it worse. Changing up to 2nd & then 3rd with the wheels still spinning meant that when they stopped spinning I was going too slow & the revs dropped right off!  ::).

The better cornering of the Ferrari quickly got me back up with the pack but was then stuck behind Doni & Matt's Daytonas. I saw an opening to get past Matt at the start of the Esses but unfortunately turned in a bit early & clipped the tyres, spun around & was collected by poor Frex, ruining his race too! Sorry teammate!  :(. Tried to carry on but the steering was awry so decided to pit & have it fixed, only to miss my pitbox. Gave up in disgust!

Congrats to Clive, Fed & Doni.

Sorry teammate!  :(.

No worries Geoff.

I didn't work out how to take the Esses sequence properly until right at the end of qually. Not that qualifying spot made much difference in the Elan of course, as I was always going to be struggling to get to the first corner against the V8s and V12s. Race pace however was feeling good - easily keeping up with the cars ahead, and also hoping that maybe the heavier cars would have worse tyre wear than me towards the end of the race. Chances are probably high however that I would have binned it somewhere against a concrete tyre..

Congrats podium.

Congrats to Clive on a fine win!  Solid drive all 'round!

Ditto to Federico to score P2!

A podium pour moi?  Mon Dieu!  Can't hardly believe my luck!

I'd tried the Cobra 427 in the days leading up to our race and was about as fast as my ultimate selection, the Daytona Coupe.  Love that gorgeous car but gosh!, I wish it had some decent mirrors.  After only a handful of laps in it, I was cracking off a high 58 with no trouble at all.  Gotta have at least another full second in hand.  On joining the server, I noted the top times and figured, 'Hey!  I'm in with a chance here!'  Imagine my frustration, then, as I struggled to match let alone surpass my pre-race trials times.  Sigh...  Started P6.

A not too good start got really exciting as someone...later determined to be Evil...gave me a healthy bodyslam just a hundred metres down the road.  It didn't phase me too much, though, and I powered up to sift by Frex's Elan on the run down to T1.  Poor Geoffers had a miserable start as he's outlined above and fell way, way back.  Bad luck there, mate.

Quite surprised, then, to roll into T1 in P4 with GT just ahead and Matt close behind.  Daytonas rule!  Rolling into the Del Lago Esses, GT got very sideways just in front of me and I couldn't avoid giving him a slight bunt.  Sorry, mate...  Unavoidable.  :(

Matt was my constant shadow over the next several laps as our leaders gradually pulled away.  Geoffers came to grief thanks to one of those wretched polos and put paid to his and Frex's race with a hefty, head-on shunt.  WOW!  That was grisly!  :(

Matt soon had a spectacular off himself in T1 to promote GT to P4.  Over the next laps, I saw the gap dwindle slightly til a off had Evil claim P4.  The gap ahead to the leaders was growing slightly each lap.  The gap behind fairly steady.  Only in the last laps did GT recover to gun down the little Lotus.  Great finish, gys!  :)

Good fun!  Looking forward to more P&G action!

Thanks Bernie, one of my better efforts.  Unlike Oulton last week!   :-[

I have always liked Mexico.  As I posted in this thread earlier, it was my first ever on-line GPL race with UKGPL.   ;D

You should give these beasts a try Bernie, as you don't have a GPL race on a Thursday.   ;D  You have to get used to the tyres wearing out and the fact that all cars behave as badly as a '67 Honda whilst having the steering of a waterlogged boat!

EDIT:  In the case of some Yank Tanks, that isn't fair on the waterlogged boat!
