That was fun but, boy, am I tired.

Bad start and swamped off the line but I had the legs on Bill down to Stowe and pulled inside him and closed my eyes - hope it wasn't too rough Bill.

Got up to 4th chasing Fabio and I was definitely a bit quicker but not quick enough to get past easily. Finally got close enough to use the tow down to Stowe and took a tight line inside. Not sure how much overlap I had and Fabio span off - again hope it wasn't illegal but if it was I apologise.

That left me clear in third and I was closing on Rog and Dave very slowly. I had a gap to David but a few little errors got him right behind me and we had a great battle for several laps. Engine notes were in tune and I was quicker at Copse but he was generally better out of Abbey. Interesting seeing our different lines. We swapped places several times and it was great racing with (I hope) mutual respect. We were catching Rog despite our battle and I made a mistake just as we closed up. That put me about 250 yds off the battle and pushing to catch up I span at Copse. I got going quickly and still had a few hundred yards on a quickly closing Fabio. Amazingly as I came out of Abbey there were two sick cars limping ahead - presumably a coming together. Unlucky for Rog and DR. I'll take it though.

Enjoyed it.

Disaster- couldn't exit qualifying for some reason and got put on the grid with qualifying setup ie no fuel so had to quit to change it,  couldn't get back on though. Behind the scenes real life was slightly in the way for this race which meant a dash for home- the Mrs had kindly got the pc fired up and so I just made the back end of qualifying. Disappointed.  Congratulations to the podium.

Yes Paul, it was a very great racing with you. Thank you !
At home, it seems you are another driver !!  :D

Begin of the race was not good for me, I did my best to follow Dave Curtis and Rog but I made a mistake and spun !
Then I restarted 7th and quite immediately I saw another incidents between Kai and Billy (They really like to give me a lot of works as moderator :) ) ,
so I was 5th
Then I overtook Fabio (did he make a mistake ? I can't remember)
After some laps, I could also  overtake Nigel Mans...  ... no Paul Badblood but he overtook me before I could take back the 3rd position. it was great racing with more fun and without inconsiderate risks.

I closed the gap with Rog UK, and as I was looking where I could pass him, he put a wheel on the wet grass (often wet in England, isn't it ? :) ) and spun just in front of me. I could not avoid the accident and we were overtaken by Paul, Fabio and Kai :(

Even with this disappointing 5th position, it's not a bad result for me for the championship as I got more points than Rog and the poor John P.  who was DNS !

Small grid,  but the pressure was sure there!

Downloaded 3 setups the night before & had some offline spins around here.  Got around the same times,  but wasn't totally convinced so dumped them come the race proper.

Joined for qually/practice session & the leaders were a couple of seconds ahead.  Hmm...  Started lapping & luckily the times were slowly improving.

Until the final moments,  it all seemed rather close with hundredths of seconds in it  [although of course,  this is just a single lap & all sorts of trouble can occur come race time].   I really got the impression that BadBlood wanted that pole :)
Then the other 2 joined in & there was a big half a second difference!

Sorry to hear of your woes JP,   I rather think things would have been rather different had you been there too.  But that left a nice big gap to the right of the track that was just asking to be driven in.

I expected Rog to be off like a shot & away;  was not disappointed.   The plan was to hang on as much as possible.  Was also wary of the other Honda power too;  particularly DaveR who was right there.  However,  was good to see that a slight gap seemed to be opening up behind him.

Although he's a team mate,  it felt as if some pressure had been removed once he'd lost a bit of time with some sideways action.

Then was following Rog round again & again & again.  I was fairly happy doing that,  especially if we were edging away.

I think there was a slightest hint of wobble/twitch out of the last left hander & that just about appeared to be enough to let me edge past.  We then seemed to have a who-can-go-the-slowest-on-their-side-of-the-track-round-the-last-corner-to-definitely-guarantee-no-contact competition.  I'd call that a draw as we both won that one :)

Then was a case of just trying to drive consistently & hopefully creep away.  There were a couple of minor braking-too-late moments, but nothing serious.    Nearly made 100% ontrack,  but never mind.

From the GPLRA report, looks like there was some stuff kicking off behind.

Was sure that my DSL issues would come back again at any time,  but it held out for the duration.

Thanks all;  quite an event.    Apart from JPs unfortunate DNS,  looked as if no dropouts/no lapping/potentially no resets?. So that at least is positive...

Cheers all,
Dave.

Qual
Thrashed the Honda and just pipped  Dave C to pole.
Race
Good start and and had some good close racing with Dave C till lap 7 when he passed me on Farm Straight, tried to keep the tow but gradually dropped back and saw Rainier and Badblood gaining on me, lap 22 turning into Abbey steering wheel came loose on desk, car hit inside curb and spun taking out Rainier (BIG SORRY Rainier so close to end of race and loosing you place on podium).
To me it seems Honda engine is not as robust as other cars, blew engine several times pre race, in race tried to be careful keeping engine temp around 230 shifting up early and using long top gear.
Grats Dave C on win
Grats to Podium

In my experience the Honda has a significant overrun (1.5k rpm is a lot compared e.g. to the Lotus) but is not reliable when consistently pushing beyond 12k rpm. Hope that helps. :)

I'm only happy about the third place and my race start.
I don't know why I'm not more able to be faster here: I raced more than 6/10 slower than my pb :-[
Grats to everybody raced.
See you next one.
Cheers

Gremlins  in the works for me when my paddle shift started playing up again just like at Spa race  :(  Don't understand the problem , I have tried it today and run over 30 laps at Silverstone in training without any problems , it seems to be only when I race on line with iGOR , have noticed it for ages now , thought it was just the odd glitch now and again but recently its got worse and worse until now makes the car almost undriveable  :-\

Another problem, ( which may be related but not sure )  I always have to re calibrate my wheel and pedals before joining a race ?
Any ideas or solutions to the above problem would be gratefully noted , received and pondered over  :-\

Good fun racing for last place with Billy ( I won ) after holding him up for about 20 laps  :)

at least I didn't get lapped this time

Grats to Dave C and the rest of you fly boys  :)

Bernie
Afair you are using a G25?

If so try to reinstall the Logitech gaming software "lgs510.exe", in W7 it must be resident in tray bar.

But shifting problems can be caused by a little switch being worn out...
I retired my G25 because of lots of double downshifting!

May not be relevent in your case,  but now & again, I find my wheel slowly turns to the right when I jump in the car.  Re-calibrating within GPL doesn't seem to help,   but if I exit the game back to desktop, unplug wheel/reconnect wheel,  all seems better for a while.

While you are also talking shifters... :)
I had issues with my replacement G25 shifter  [Logitech had previously sent me an entire new setup under warranty due to misbehaving shifter].   I've fairly recently obtained a G27 shifter from Logitech online spares shop [about £30 or so] & hooked it up directly to USB port via a Bodnar cable.

Cheers,
Dave.

Another race to forget.
Early laps I was behind Kai. Got a good run down the pit straight & the inside at Copse. I think there must be opposite magnets in my Brab & Kai's BRM as this is the third race we have had contact. From the replay I had full overlap into the corner so don't feel too guilty. Unfortunately this derailed both of us & cost me a Stop & Go. After a few laps I managed to get close to Bernie but overtaking was another matter entirely. Had a long extended battle (for last place) but the same outcome as with Kai earlier, inside line in the corner, good overlap but just a slight contact.
Some great racing, but not a great performance.
Well done to DC on the win.
