Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Note early race start time! Drivers shall not change cars during qualifying.

Thanks a lot Tony, I haven't been able to complete 12 laps at a time in the TVR before doing agriculture duty, let alone 14!!!!

I can just about get into a 29 with the Trevor, about a second slower in the Elan.
I am getting grossly inacurate fuel consumption between the game and XD
XD says i need 35 litres the game says I need 120.... maybe the XD is gallons  ???

My best in race trim is 1:29 in the Lotus but only 1:32 in the TVR  :(

By the way the AI give quite a good race here

As I race only once a week, the extra 2 laps is fine with me,too

I've squeezed a 30 out of the Elan but with a little more tweeking in the garage am hoping to reduce that by maybe 1sec. The mother-in-law is staying here at the moment :nono:, so haven't had the usual time to warm up the TVR yet.

With regards the amount of fuel needed, I find adding 10% extra has always got me over the line (when I remember to put it in, of course :-[), but different peoples driving styles will obviously have an influence on what that % will be. As I race using quite a small screen, albeit with an excellent picture, I worry that using XD would be a strain on the eyes, so I add my extra fuel based on the standard garage figures.

Nice to be back Sim-Racing after missing the last couple of events. I had done practically no practice so was not expecting much. It probably went better than I expected.  I had a slightly flattering finishing position in both races due to others misfortunes.

Race 1

The race went O K. I didn’t feel I knew the track well enough to push so I was slow.

Race 2

This was very confusing at the start. I was avoiding frozen ghost cars as there seemed to be a lot of lagging. I considered leaving the race but it all settled down. I had not had time to work out a set up for the TVR and trying to drive it felt like I was desperately trying to hold on to a bolting horse. I do know what I’m talking about, it really happened to me once. I was very slow but due to others misfortunes my finish was better than I deserved.

It was fun racing again. ;D  Grats to podiums and all.  :thumbup2:

hi

two nice races for me.
race 1 with elan. I know that a car a little, so I felt comfortable in it. Most laps on 3 or 2, not so much tension.
race 2 with TVR, dont know much about that car, so a little unsure in it. I started in the back field. Had some nice, close and very fair battles with Steve and Oldgeezer. Thxs guys !
In the end 3. place, oops, did not expect that.............

great league, great and really gentlemandrivers here. Congrats. Looking forward next race.

Thxs Tony for setting up all that stuff.

Greets Hayman

No time for practice this week and i don't knew the track. So was difficult for me keep the car on the track.
The first race was with the "beast" and made many mistakes, but was a fun race. Many battles with hayman, luis, Erling, Clive, etc. Finally 4th.

The 2nd race was better. The little elan is more agile and easy to drive. The first laps great battle with Luis. Difficult to keep the 1st place in some corners. In lap 3-4 I took a little gap and my gap was increased. 1st place!  ;D

Grats to my teammte Erling for a great results.

Grats all  and see you the next week!

Cheers!

This  was an evening that turned out quite unexpectedly.  Really didn't like the track.  Found it tricky, without being rewarding.  Let your mind wander for a tiny moment, and you could be sure of entering the next blind curve too fast and/or on a completely wrong line.  Thus entered with an attitude of something that I just needed to get over with, so a bit ironic that I should then get two good results after some thoroughly enjoyable racing, but not the first time that has happened in GTL  :)

Offline I couldn't break below 1:30 in either car.  Very average, and knocking 0.5 sec off that with the TVR in qual only got me 6th on the grid. Start went well, but Steve muscled his was past rather determinedly within the first corners.  Later on L1, I passed Clive who had gone off.  I'm sure he's cursing that moment, as that allowed me to do a 'Rogerblock' on him for half the race  ;)

Sorry Clive; hope I wasn't being too unfair by not letting you by, but I rather enjoyed our battle. You're one driver with whom I feel I can safely have a close duel, without fear of being punted off, as long as I leave you room to manoeuvre.  :)

Gained a pos when Steve went off, and later another one, as we both passed Flash who had just rejoined after an off.  1 or 2 laps later, the same happened with Jose, in much the same place. Thus found myself in 3rd halfway through the race, but with a plethora of faster drivers right behind me, it seemed unlikely that I could hold it to the finish.  To my delight, Jose immediately started bugging Clive - with a bit of luck, the two gents could keep each other occupied, while I slipped away  ;)  More likely though, would be either one or both knocking on my door in short order.

It was my lucky day however, as Clive, Flash & Jose traded places several times, but each falling off just regularly enough for me to stay in front till the finish line  :)

As qual drew to an end in race 2, I was much surprised to find myself 2nd on the grid - except I wasn't !!  In the closing seconds, BloodyClive managed to snatch it from under my nose  :taz:  - Lol, guess that was payback for race 1  :)

Start went ok, but then Flash started warping very badly, his car zooming back and forth.  I tried my best to stay on a different path from him, to avoid a collision.  After a short while, it quited down a bit, and I was 4th, chasing Clive & Flash.  Went on for a number of laps, but then I suddenly saw Flash in a spectacular somersault before the chicane.  He took Clive with him off and I was suddenly in a very unlikely 2nd place.  Clive soon rejoined, chasing after me.  Like the first race, I concentrated very hard on going as quickly as possible, without making mistakes, and thankfully that was enough to retain 2nd to the finish line.

Grats to my fellow podium'ers and all who finished on this demanding track.

Cheers,
Erling

Race 1       Very poor show by me early on sorry to Tony i think i bashed your car about a dozen times and sorry to Bob M who i pushed out, just could not sus this track and get a decent lap.
Race 2       Thought i would do well in the Elan but it was not to be, hit a curb and rolled ended 20 secs + down from back of field.

Grats to race Winners
Grats to Podiums

Race 1
- I always feel more nervous starting mid-grid than up front, so qual in 7th didn't help my nerves :D Having 2 car makes on the track with different braking zones was also going to mix things up on the track, so starting in the heavier but faster-on-the straights TVR, I found my braking zone began much much earlier than the chasing Elans. It felt that even the other TVR's behind were on my tail at the entry to each corner. So it was no surprise that on lap 1 or 2, on the last but one bend, when I tried to avoid being rear-ended by leaving my braking a little later than was comfortable,  either a wheel-lock or a friendly nudge resulted in me retiring on a full pension after getting over-friendly with the barrier. I don't have access to replays but if it was a nudge, absolutely no worries to the driver concerned :)

Race 2
- Again qual in 7th, but this time in the more well-balanced Elan (as in real-life I suppose) so felt less worried this time starting mid-table, but conscious that one needs to avoid complacency and remain focused. After a little friendly ducking and diving, my race settled down but only for a short while. For much of the remainder of the race I found I was chasing/occasionally passing Bob the Oldgeezer and Hayman, in a fantastic close-fought race for what turned out to be 3rd place. In the end it finished with me splitting the two apart, with only 0.9 sec covering the 3 of us across the line and an average speed difference of just 0.067mph for the whole race. This is what SimRacing is all about

And congrats to podium Spok, Hayman, Coyote and Jose.

Great fun for sure.... R1 was a challenge as I got bumped in the first turn or so and had to start from the back.  Then drove my way up to Roger and Tony, we ran for several laps together and then Roger and I had a racing accident.  If my memory is right I was on the outside of him on one of the big sweepers and we got together.  I should have used better judgement and pulled in behind him  as we were all in the twitchy a$$ TVR's.  So regrouped from a  GTL roll that the game does for no good reason and finish in the middle of the field.
R2 was one of the best races I have been in, in a long time.  Right almost from the start Steve, Hayman and myself raced and changed positions till the end.  On about lap 10 or so we all three met up at that chicane.  I hit the curbs hard I guess and wounded the front suspension and it was pulling left, but lasted untill the end.....A few sparks flew now and then but we all made it!!!   When I first started racing with you guys I thought, These two cars are going to be very strange racing together, but they are great foes.  Good job for the pick Tony...

See you all next week I hope
Bob M.

Like one or two others I found this track/cars combo a challenge. It required 100% concentration just to get a clean lap, let alone a fast lap.

I had suffered with that most serious of life threatening illnesses.."man flu"!!  all week and it di not improve over the weekend. So I approached these races looking for something to cheer me up. I decided that I did not care where I finished as long as I got some good racing.

I got it in the first race with the nimble Elan and thoroughly enjoyed bugging Coyote from all angles, even if I could not quite make the pass. No probs with your defensive driving, all fair and just added to the fun. I cannot even tell you where I finished, except that it was behind Coyote somewhere.  ;D

Race 2 was different, that TVR is just such a beast. I had no setup ready so copied the one I used at Brands Hatch, set light to the blue touch paper and hung on!!!
There was someone with an Elan that was using a Klingon cloaking device in the early laps. Twice I was braking for a corner with a 20mtr gap to the car in front when a yellow Elan suddenly materialised between us!!! :o :o. That did keep my nerves on edge for a while!!!

I struggled with that TVR and ran wide a few times, mostly on the outside of the track and lost loads of time, but the fun police decided that I had cut the track and I had to do a SnG on the last lap.....frankly I could not be bothered to complete it as I had enjoyed my racing enough anyway regardless of the result.

grats to the podiums  and all who raced.

Thanks José.

After a satisfying quali with new pb and a good start I slightly tapped Bob in front of one of the first corners  :P
- sorry for that mate - and dropped to last on waiting for him to pass.  :(
Had no motivaton at all to cruise behind the field on a track I don't like, so I quit.  :-\
