Season 27 Friday Trophy - Rounds 31 & 32 - Moon 69X

Welcome to the next round for the Friday Trophy, we do our longest trip to the Moon.
A nice smooth track with some great racing expected.

This seasons tracks will be easy and well known to have a smaller time gap between the lights and heavies,
if there is a too big gap on a track, a stop and go for the lights in the 30min race will be recommended!

This is really designed to be a fun series with 3 different car mods
- running 1 sprint length race of ~15 min and a ~30 min race with the same car.
- ONE SHIFT-R with NO Stop n Go

Light drivers are restricted to use the Matra MS84, the Lotus 63 or any wingless car ::)
Heavy drivers will allways have a free car choice!

Hoping for a nice number of participants, or drivers that handicap themselves more with chassis choice. Preferably both :D. I'm running the Eagle tonight, it landed at a 1:12.94, which seems not too far off of what the heavies were doing last time round.

This track makes me think of this song. It's funny that I seem to be the Micheal Collins of the Friday Series, always chasing Axel and Mark.

"I'm with you L.E.M.
though it's a shame that it had to be you.
The mother ship is just a blip
from your trip made for two.
I'm with you boys, so please employ just a little extra care.
It's on my mind I'm left behind
when I should have been there.
Walking with you."

Massive frustration in heat 1.  Computer suddenly slowed down during qualifying.  I disconnected and connected again but it froze, so I had to reboot and just missed out on reconnecting before the start.  Really hacked off, and drove the second heat in a rage.  I was looking for a fight too, but Greg had a spin and fell back.  Oh well.

Not that it would have made much difference,  but could have done with the planned practice - but instead I jumped on a practice session for Road Atlanta71;  which worked out to be very beneficial indeed!

Was just about starting to get the hang of it [from a Heavy perspective] by the end of the 2nd event.  In fact, my end of event in-lap was 1.1 seconds quicker than my best official lap during race2.

Where are the other heavy chaps?  It gets lonely at the back!

Cheers all.
Dave.

Excellent drive Mark! I'm very impressed with your consistency. That's something I'm really struggling with at the moment. I was disappointed to see you disco shortly before the start of heat 1. Sorry I couldn't make it a difficult race for you. I was closing in on you when I spun in T1. I was giving it everything. I was thinking I'm almost to the point I can relax a little. Just a little closer and I'd have started getting a real good tow. I was ready for some short shifting and early braking. Gotta quit thinking so much and just drive.

Dave C, it looks like with a little more practice, you'd have been about even with me in the Lotus 49. The better cars that the Lights are using this season appears to have made it too difficult for the Heavies.

Where's Walter been? I've been wondering the last few to several races why he hasn't been racing anymore.

Take care guys.
