Title: ESRA ... what is www.esra-league.com ?
Post by: Fred Joseph on November 05, 2014, 12:28:15 PM +0000
As Goldtop was kind enough to drop by at ESRA and suggested I should post here, here I am ;)

ESRA (for European Sim Racing Association) is organising iRacing championships for more than two years now.. and our goal was and will always be to try and offer the best racing environment possible to our drivers..

Since Assetto Corsa came out in the very first version, we believe it would be THE next simulation.. so we got involved in the process with the Beta testing team..  and when we see how it have evolved now, I bet we were pretty damn right to believe in it ;)

Now since the V1 RC is gone out, we started organising our first official championship.. We had quite some success in the fun races we had so we had to make two pools of drivers.. (yeah, one of my main issue with AC is it's 24 drivers limit for now.. :'( ).

We are organising a multiple car champ, with the BMW Z4 GT3, the Mc Laren GT3, Mercedes SLS GT3 and P 4/5 C Competizione..

See a little trailer here :

How can I embed videos here again ?

At the moment the registrations are closed.. as we have 48 drivers registered (including PicNick and Shark  ;))
You can still enlist and get a wild card if spots are available.

If you have any questions let me know !

Fred

*BUMP*

Would be good to see some more of you fellows there for the GT league (every other Thursday night). Looks like, although the official registration is closed, that due to attendance drop-off places are available every week now for wildcards!

I think they're all GT3 cars Fred so I class both as GT3 racing. :-D

Oops, sorry, about the day, my head completely wrong there!

Yes they are but I didn't know if you were talking Assetto Corsa or iRacing (although we are on a AC sub forum)..

Well, thanks for the BUMP  :thumbup2:

The last time I checked there were 2 pools of drivers and both were oversubscribed. If there are spots available I should be ok for some of the races...do I need to register or anything?

One of the pool is pretty open ;)

You have to subscribe yes..
Go here : http://www.esra-league.com/threads/gt-series-s1-teams.2422/page-7

Then you'll be redirected to Pool A or B depending on what times you can achieve on particular track (we trust you).
Maybe for thursdays race (at Spa), there will be just one pool ;)

Missed the GT3 series unfortunately but liking the look of the upcoming BMW E30 series championship. Hoping to sign up to that, but sadly does mean It will clash with P&g every other week  :'( should make for great close racing in cool older cars.

I'm also signed up for the F458 race at Silverstone on Monday 19th Jan if anyone wants to join me  :)

There are a few races stil going in the GT3 series Mark that you can join (freely).

Just poping in also to say that after many thoughts, we decided to go "pay to play" for Assetto Corsa racing at ESRA.. Donations barely covered 1/3 of the total server costs so far, and the renting is ending in may so we had to decide something.

15€ for a year of racing I hope it's not too much.

All details here : http://www.esra-league.com/threads/m3-series-2015-announcement.2594/#post-59215

M3 series grid is full (24 drivers)  :D

Hopefully Kunos will open the grids to more drivers.. 24 is not enough  ;)

Team Shark is already fielding two cars ;)

Good work Fred. BUT you did say (correct me if I'm wrong) if there were 40 drivers you would open up 2 pools so you can still register even though it's full as also people drop out.

Changed my mind.

Seriously yes I've changed my mind.. two pools is really hard to handle... you have to make prequalifications first, then you have a (lot) work to start servers each week... considering we are only two capable of running it at the moment.. I prefer to stay with one pool for now.

And that is even if I really need more to actually participate to help me pay the server :D

We also start another GT³ series in the mean time (official announcement soon) .. so, better keep it simple.

Now if some admin would step up and help us...  *wink wink*

 ;D

I have signed up for the upcoming season 2 of GT3 racing if anyone wants to join me. 21 drivers already signed up  :)
A team mate would be nice but if not then good to see any other regular face.

15 euro donation for a year to help with server costs.

And we will try to organise at least 4 official championships a year.
Hopefully more.

In the near future there will also be hotlap competitions too.
And from time to time we organise (free) fun events ;)

Also another iRacing champ should be starting in a few weeks ;-)

I have no problem with donations but for new drivers this is effectively an entry fee where we have little idea of what we'll be racing over the year. Also I'm reluctant to commit to any league when I have no experience of the driving standards however good that league's reputation might be.

I'm looking around for another league at the moment as it seems no-one here is going to step up and continue AC, which is a real shame as effectively that ends my racing here. It would be nice to continue to race with the drivers I've raced with over these last few years.

I felt the same GT, bit sad that we have to look elsewhere for regular or bigger grid racing  :( I like racing familiar faces that I've known on here for years now but it's just not taking off here and I don't want to miss out on fuller grids whilst the sim is so popular. 3 of us regulars now in Fred's upcoming full GT3 league so I'm looking forward to it.
For £11 it was worth a punt. :)

The driving standards and sporting behaviour is essentially at the same level as it is here.

I would rather race here too and that's no disrespect to ESRA cause I enjoy racing with them, but the fact is that there are no AC series with championship standings here and the one series that has been run is on one of the two worst nights for racing (Wednesday and Saturday evenings).

Also whereas some leagues have adapted to the missing features in AC, this league does not appear to be and as a result will be left behind as people find other places to race.

Why don't you guys unite your forces and create a SROU series on ESRA ?  (just an idea)

But I'd glad to discuss details about it with you guys.. that would bring people to ESRA's servers and you guys could race between people you know and trust..  that would ensure SROU's community a future as I agree with Simon.. people are leaving.

Just want to say thank you GT for the great Wednesday events. And thank you for keeping them on the 30 minute mark, could not race otherwise, really appreciated that. Hope there is someone who can take it over. Thank you all who joined and for the great races.

Cheers,

Erik
