Season 27 Amateurs Trophy - Round 8 – Spa-Francorchamps

Round 8 for the Season 27 Amateurs Trophy in mod 1965 will be at SPA in Belgium.

Bit disappointing. Couldn't avoid Rog although I had plenty of warning. Was going to go left and then saw Bernie stranded, decided to go right too late. Sorry. Rest and then chased too hard, span off the grass into a farmhouse. Pity. Fun while it lasted.

I just managed to slide left and then right through the debris field. It is too bad that you three four had to drop out of the race. I started to feel more competitive towards the end of the race. I blew an engine with five laps to go. I did a shift-R and S&G which put me in last. I felt like I was gaining on 5th place on the last lap. I could have used two more laps maybe. I enjoyed it, Good race.

Tough going,  I had to concentrate all the time.

Congtrats JP;  unfortunately that looked like a perfect race for you :)
I sure would not have done anyway as well as I did without the tow;  for the entire event!

DR never seemed to be far enough behind for comfort.  Despite very nearly handing him the place on the last couple of corners;  it just worked out in my favour;  but it was too close for comfort.

2.5s off previous PB.  Maybe that setup I downloaded just before qually was a gem;  or there again - maybe that tow really does make a big difference.  As well as DR snarling away back there...

Probably could have done without the extra 4 laps of fuel,  but wouldn't have made much difference.

Luckily, DSL did remain up.  It dropped out just as I joined the server & despite a period where my ping machine was showing some latency out to the world;  the red prib bar didn't stay tall for very long.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Great race for me, DC gave me no rest he was on my tail the entire race.  With 5 laps to go I managed to drop him to a full second distance but he relentlessly came back. Really good driving from him to let us both drive our race without incident. I saw DR in my mirrors behind DC later on and hoped he may slow DC down a bit but not a chance- I was really glad to see the flag. Thanks all see you next time.

Also managed to avoid the dust up on Lap 1, although I may have lost some paintwork on the way through. Had a couple of laps in Walter's company where it seemed quicker to use the tow than do the hard work. Unfortunately Walt ran off at the right hand kink after Stavelot. By that time the leaders were out of sight. According to Prib the gap was relatively similar for the rest of the race, but Spa can be a lonely place.
Laguna Seca will be a very different sort of challenge.

Fabio, your Ferrari was incredibly fast during the 1st lap.
As usual you had a very good start, you overtook me like I was stopped  :o  and then you were quickly in the tow of Dave C and Johnny P.
I thought you will do the same like you did in Reims (for the 1st round of this championship) ...but suddenly you disappeared. Bad luck !

From my side, I was, during all the race, between 1 and 4 sec behind the two leaders. Hoping they will disturb each other and slow down, or at least be on their tow.
Final result is not good for me as Johnny P has now only 18 points less than me (after removing the 2 worst).
Johnny is quicker than me, but now also Dave Curtis (and sometimes RogUK and Walter) so championship will be very hard to win.

Hopefully, I am usually better on tracks like Laguna and Zandvoort  than on fast tracks like  Reims, Monza, Hockenheim ...or Spa !
