Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: The most popular car will be dropped for the remainder of this series.

Tony, I have apparently downloaded the track the link points to before.

However, when I wanted to join the online server to verify I had the correct track, server showed up running Dijon-Prenois Short.  Decided to download and install again, after which the server now shows Norisring instead.

Does the link point to the right track, and is the server running it presently ?

Cheers,
Erling

Let me go check the server

EDIT: Server is showing correct track as is the lobby. Link is pointing to the correct track.

That is weird.  Removed my Watkins folder, followed download link again and installed once more.  Still shows server running Noirisring and tells me I can't join because track is not installed.

Next tried downloading and installing Watkins 1967, although link doesn't point to it, but result is the same as above.

These are my Watkins folders:

And this is the content of the WatkinsGlen folder:

Does it look like it's supposed to ?

Not work for me. "Cannot join - The track is not installed"
Offline works OK.

I would urge all Drivers to download the track even if they already have a Watkins Glen installed. It looks like some muppet admin updated the track download and then forgot to update the server too. Don't leave it until race night to find out you have the old track version installed.

I hope to make this race. Although not much practice I do remember racing on this track before.

Due to a pulled chest muscle no golf last week or next so I'm free to race Monday's.

I was tempted to race last week but decided that Schottenring was too much of a challenge when steering with one hand.

I think I’ll be somewhere near the back so hope I’ll find someone to race with.

Very Nice Track for V8s, had a very close battle with Roguk and Ati till mid race when I lost the grip on the left rear wheel,  I had to pit to change tires and I thought the rest might pit too cz my wheels were gone, but looks like it only happened to me,

Then I joined the race 40 sec behind SpecialKs and when the gap reached 29 sec I lost concentration and hit the wall on the right side of the chicane and blew my tyre, so back to the pits and my race was over !!!

it was a fun race, hope to see u all next week on the track !!!

Have a good week guys !!!

Michel

Fun race yesterday. Very close battle with Geoffers and Ati for the pole.
1st place for me... but my start was horrible and Ati and Geoffers past me.
Took me a few laps to get a good pace and soon Ati made a mistake in the chicane and I catched Geoffers.
The next 20 laps a great battle with him. I overtook his only one time... but the ford is too fast in straights and every time he had chance to overtook me. 2 or 3 laps later Geoffers pass me easly and no more chances for me .... so grats Geoofers!!! Great pace!

Grats Bob for the 3rd place.

Matt was very close to me in the first 12 laps. What happened then?

For me, this season the best races (fun and competitive) were the V8s. Hopefully next season we run more races.

Good fun for me, lost concentration a bit later in the race and got wobbly in the esses letting Bob through
was almost keeping pace with Jose and Geoffers, but dropped back after the visit to the gravel.
I like these things as well.  :thumbup1:

Had a good race early on but a mistake at the Bus stop caused me to hit a wall hard and this made my steering wonky. Tried a couple of laps but the car was tricky to control so decided to pit for repairs. This put me right to the back and spent the remainder of the race chasing Bill, who I passed. Also gained some places when Michel and marcfvs pitted. Cars and track looked great. Hope you can all make the final round at Riverside.

Excellent race, good battle with Jose for the entire race.  :thumbup2:

Got a good start from 3rd on the grid & nearly grabbed the lead at T1 but Ati swept around the outside to hold on. On the 3rd lap Ati lost a bit of drive up the hill & I just got ahead before the chicane. We tried to take the chicane together but unfortunately Ati spun  :(. Soon had Jose troubling me & when I made a mistake through the RHer after the chicane he got ahead. I expected Jose to pull away but it turned out we were evenly matched around the lap although my Ford was slightly faster on the straights.

After 4-5 laps ahead Jose ran a bit wide into the final turn & I got back in front on the S/F straight. Managed to eek out a bit of a gap in the last few laps, mainly due to having slightly the faster car, & held on for the win.

Great drive Jose  & thanks to the backmarkers for making room, well done all.

Good to see we will have more V8s next year. Never used to like these cars, but since I figured out how to set them up & drive them, they have become one of my favourites.

My first race for a while as I have not been getting home in time on Monday’s. Very little practice (I had got distracted by the GPL-1967 mod) but I remembered the track from some previous race.  I went with the default set up and 30 laps of fuel to be safe.

As I suspected I was rather slow but did manage to bring the car home unscathed, even managing to miss a couple of spinners. I say unscathed apart from the tyres which were pretty wrecked, oh and the engine which was in red condition. Too much engine braking and over revving in third gear to try to keep in front of those faster Ford Falcons I guess.

I had pulled a small gap on my pursuers with a couple of laps to go and was considering whether to ease off to save the engine or risk it going bang when I saw Geoffers  and senyorlobo in my mirrors. It occurred to me that if I was lapped the engine should make it. The decision was taken out of my hands as they were closing so quickly that I had no option but to let them past. Once across the finish line I revved the engine by doing a couple of doenuts but it would not go bang.

I like these cars (I miss the Javelin) and remembered what fun these races are. Must try to make more of them.

Thanks to all I raced with and grats to winner and podiums.

Resultwise a disappointing race, but on a great track and with some nice racing action along the way.

5th on the grid and held it after the start, but Clive squeezed past on the inside at T2. Next lap, he got wobbly at T1, allowing me to reclaim the position. When Ati went off, it was upgraded to 4th.  All the while and for the next many laps, I had Bob glued to my rear bumper. Couldn't last, and I eventually lost the rear under braking into the chicane.

Was buried deep in the gravel, with nose against the wall, so had to reverse out. Managed to bungle the shift into reverse, and by the time I finally extracted myself from that mess, I was down to 9th, 10 secs behind #8.  Hardly made any inroads into that gap over the following laps, but inherited 8th, when Maipor (I think) went into the pits.  Later that lap I spotted cars up ahead, only to repeat my error at the chicane..  :censored:

Got going a little quicker and held on to 8th - just.  Later got uprated to 7th when another car pitted.  With around 6 laps left, I caught the battling Ati & Roger, as they were rejoining after a coming together. Unfortunately for me, they made no more mistakes, and all I could do was trail them to the finish, some 2 secs behind.

Grats to the podium and all ahead

It's been a fun series, so glad to see V8 action returning next year.   Sad to see the Challenger go, as it's probably my all time favorite (real life) US car.

Cheers,
Erling

In my brief race report I forgot to apologize to Kurt for the nudge coming up the fast back straight after the 180 corner. We were side by side when I suddenly spotted a car, upside down, in the middle of the track. To squeeze past I had to nudge Kurt which gave him a moment as he clattered the side wall quite hard. Didn't seem to effect him tho as he continued to lead me. Seems it was Clive who had a right old tank slapper moment.

Good fun at a great track for these cars.  I was just mostly in the right place at the right time to get 3rd place.  Wasn't as fast as the "Big Boys"  but lap times were close all through the race people ahead of me spun out so I could inherit their place.
Glad to hear all the favorable comments about these cars in the post's.  Just a little "Teaser" of season 16 Trans Am series which will be 50 years old in 2016.  I tried to recreate the season as it happened but some of the tracks are plowed under for housing and shopping developments.  Luckily some of these tracks have been created into GTL, but had to substitute a couple from later years that were used in TA.  Also I tried to use cars from this period that reflect the period and still have close to the same performance.  They are Mercury Cougar---1966 Mustang TA---68 Pontiac Firebird---Plymouth 340 Barracuda---Z28 Camaro (later model because I couldn't find a early Camaro that was close to the performance of the rest of the cars, all too fast, muscle cars).  To make the adjustment for the little difference in performance of the five cars the season will be 10 races and you can only drive a car twice. Like the LM55 series is set up. Hope you all enjoy it!!!

My thanks to Tony of course for doing all the set-up work, he's the brains of making it possible, I just came up with the idea and supplied some of the information.........

Bob M.

No problem Tony - I didn't really remark that you hit me. We both had to be very busy at that special moment to avoid Clive's car.  :o

Nice one at the back of the pack with some sweet fights with ccstevecc but my tyres - especially the left front tyre -
were considerably decreasing  ::) but I enjoyed it very much.

Unusually for me I joined this race with no practice whatsoever, yet felt calmer than I have ever been. Starting at the back was not unexpected and I was immediately passed by a very eager Bill. Through others misfortunes I found myself up to 9th so decided to try and put some pressure on some  "dots" that had appeared in the distance. With SpecialK slowly growing larger in my rear mirror I somehow caught up with one of the "dots", who turned out to be Misnoimis. But for the remainder of the race he managed to stay at least one step ahead of me.

Tyre wear was certainly an issue towards the end for me too, but with heavy V8's it's to be expected.

Well done to Geoffers and Jose - the stats show your race was really close throughout. And well done Bob for hanging in there for 3rd.

Next seasons V8 Fest includes one of my favourites, the Cougar, so an excellent choice of cars to look forward to. Thank you Bob and Tony.
