Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (24 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Pole sitter and those close to the front on the left hand side of the track may have trouble seeing the start lights.

Suggest you turn countdown on.

It seems we have used this one before, as I had a Healey setup for it on my home machine, but maybe I missed
the actual event as I don't remember racing here.. ???
Nasty little track with some awkward sharp turns. I did a few laps only, and so far am slightly quicker in the Merc
then the Aston, then the Healy. The Healey is a nice easy drive, so might be a good option for the race
the Aston want to go sideways a lot  :o and the Merc feels lumbering  :tank: but isn't.

Erm actually this track is new to UKGTL.

Maybe you did some earlier practice time here and then forgot all about it due to your advancing years  :wheelchair:

BTW I'm getting similar times in the Merc and Aston. Haven't tried the Healey yet.

You think this one is a stinker. Wait until you try one of the other remaining tracks

Best for me in the A-100 is a 133.4 with race fuel.  Fun track for sure,  but those trees are mostly concrete and certain death if you pop one with any speed up!  Gotta be cautious in the early laps in a crowd.....Patience Patience!!!!

No stinkers among these if you ask me, and what a finale we're going to have - S bends, elevation changes, jumps and a raised banking!  :jumpjoy:

Best on this track is 1:30.5 in Merc in non-race trim, but hate that car here so won't be using it.

Cheers,
Erling

I think Bill had this too. Perhaps he can help? I think it was something to do with graphics drivers? Is it ok if you go online?

Problem was once it was blacked out and I uninstalled it, when I re-installed it was also coloured black.  The good news is you can still use the track on line when it is our Monday track. Go on line and try and see if it works as temporary measure.

Only solution, I found, is to re-install and start Season 15 again.  That's my experience, best of luck.

mine was not greyed out just printed in heavy black type, sorry to have troubled you guys.

Just recovering from yet another bout of "man flu". It was so bad that I did no sim racing for a whole week!!!  TBH I am getting a little fed up with a long series of bugs and infections, probably I am in denial about old age! :-\

But last night I d/loaded Pebble Beach ( a track that we have used in GPL a few years ago, but it was a distant memory) and looked at which cars I had left.
After careful consideration of the type of circuit and the differing performances of the cars, tyre options, top speeds number of gears etc and looking at which tracks were still to come ( never heard of any of those!!) and how I might maximise my chances in those races....I tossed a coin and tried the Merc.

A little frustrated that there was no way to change the diff when I was sure that was stopping me going sub 1:30, but that is the same for everyone.
I don't have any D type drives left, so might try the Healey and the Aston before tonight if I find time.
I was actually amazed when I looked at the current standings, to find I am 2nd??!! I was convinced in my mind that I had screwed up so many races that I must be at best mid table.
I guess I have to make an effort to pressure Erling for the remainder of the season, so that he does not have an easy ride to the champagne.

fastest for me is Merc, then Aston, then AH 100
AH100 is easiest, Aston and Merc are similar, Aston may be slightly faster, but I like the Merc so
went with that.

Hmmm Guess I Discoed on lap 20 and didn't even know it.  Lap counter kept going and the lap times were working.  How do you know you have discoed on a race like this where there isn't any traffic around you?   Anyway hope I didn't mess up anyones race, last traffic I saw was Jose lapping me in the red A100.  See you all next week......

Bob M

Edit:  Just watched the replay, sorry to Ati & Jose that I was lagging so bad.  Will have to check my connections and such.  At a loss for what else to do as untill a disco just before Prince George and now today I have never had a disco problem at all........

Yes Bob, when I approach to his car to try overtake, your car had many lag and I had to stop several times for fear of bumping into you. :o
Luckily nothing happened. :)

Little suprise with the healy pace. Only made a few laps before the qualy and I got a good laptime.
In race, the first laps I really comfortable behind my friend Ati, but he made a little mistake and I got pass him.
After that tried to keep my pace but having Ati behind me it is very difficult because the pressure is very strong and crearly his pace is better that mine.
Finally, 2 laps to finish I made a little mistake, braked a little late and I went long. Anyway was a fun race in a track unknown to me but I liked so much.

Grats Ati for a deserved win and Geoffers for the 3rd place.

See you all!

Absolutely loved the track.  In early testing I was quickest in the Merc, but hated it on this track, as I couldn't keep it from swapping ends on me under braking.  Testing showed it to be more cooperative on the remaining tracks in the series, so decided to use my last Healey drive here.  With practice (lots!), I eventually beat my Merc time with it. Thus quite demoralizing to see someone like Jose come waltzing in, with no practice whatsoever, and immediately be 1.5 secs quicker than you.  Bloody aliens..  ;D

Far down the grid at the start, but gained a couple of places to finish L1 in 6th.  Tried to stay with Hayman up front over the early laps, but he gradually slipped away.  Simultaneously, Clive was reeling me in, eventually passing me.  His antics puzzled me to say the least.  Considering his blisteringly quick qual-time, he should have had no trouble leaving me and my lowly and slow Healey in his dust.  Instead, he was driving like an i... err, making a mess of things  ;)  He would pass me repeatedly, only to stuff it again sooner or later, allowing me back in front. Probably some perverted desire to overtake me that made him continue to make unforced errors.  Note to Mr. Evil: it's usually more productive to overtake different cars in a race, rather than the same one over and over, no matter how fun it might be - at least when said car is trundling along in 5th-6th place..  ;D

Late in the race, I caught Bill in a very unfortunate position, approaching T1. Desperate to get past, as I was currently ahead of Clive, and could conceivably stay there to the finish, if I really stretched my luck.  Got it all wrong, lost it under braking and spun in front of Bill, bringing him to a standstill.  That apparently caught Matt out, causing him to go off too.  Sorry about that guys  :(

Held to the end and finished 5th.  Grats to the podium.

Sorry to hear about your disco problems Bob.  Hope you can get it sorted.

Cheers,
Erling

Had an absolute mare of a race. Hit someone early on and the handling of my car was dreadfull for the remainder of the race. Under braking it tried to snap out into a spin and this caught me out several times. Same thing when accelerating hard so my race was a collection of spins and offs. Like the circuit tho.
@ Bill, sorry I hit you at one of the tight turns but you were stationary right on the racing line and after the turn I had no way of avoiding you.

I enjoyed it more than I expected. Was doing well in 3rd somehow keeping Geoffers behind, when I was distracted by domestic events....
and next time I looked I was up a grass bank. Had to wait for most of the field to pass before I got going again
then had a misunderstanding with another car's rear end while trying to work out which side to pass on, difficult when the other car seems to be in the
middle of the road and undecided  :scared: Then had some fun chasing Clive and Erling, can't remember exactly what happened in what order
but as Erling said I went off avoiding him and Bill's RTA, I thought "oh I'll just drive down this grey road and rejoin the track
as some of those grey roads do".. err not this one, it was  dead end, nearly got a DQ with a wrong way warning , but got back ok
and went off after the pack. Didn't really like the track, would have been ok but for the nasty tight hairpins.

Good result, but a fairly lonely race for me.

Had done some practice this week, but it still took a few laps of qually to get near the pace. Start was good & I managed to keep out of the way of some over ambitious braking attempts at T1, this left me in 5th place. Hayman went wide at T2 on lap 2 & Matt & I slipped past. Chased Matt for several laps, unable to quite get close, until he went off at T3 after around 9 laps. Rest of the race I was on my own as Ati & Jose were well ahead & I was gradually pulling away from Hayman.

Congrats to Ati & Jose & thanks to Tony for organising.

LOL Bill. It would be great to say that I demonstrated impeccable driving and judgement in performing that overtake, but.........the truth is not quite so flattering. ::) I had nailed the gas out of the hairpin intent on passing Erling before the final turn. The red mist was so dense that I could only focus on the Healey's tail lights. Then suddenly he moved left, just as I was going to pass, to reveal ANOTHER CAR!! dead centre of the road. No chance of stopping, so I aimed for the only bit of unoccupied tarmac which appeared far too narrow to accommodate a Merc. So I drew on all my sim racing experience and closed my eyes. There was no "bang" and when I peeked again the road ahead was clear down to the final turn and Bill was still moving and in my mirrors. :) :)

Erling was close to the truth about my performance :-\ words like inept, appalling and plain dumb are hardly apt.
A week suffering that most deadly disease, man flu!! with no sim racing had left me decidedly "rusty", I did not even fire up my PC during that time, relying solely on my ancient lap top to watch the forums.
Sunday evening I felt strong enough to try a few laps as I reported earlier, but struggled with the Merc. Monday evening I tried a few laps with the Healey, which was a joy to drive compared to the Merc....but with the setup I had was about 1.5secs slower.
As I had 2 Mercs left I decided to work on the setup, so I joined the server early and did some testing.
There was a "eureka" moment when a change of damper settings took me below 1:30 for the first time on what felt like a slow lap.
When the next laps were trimming 3-4 tenths off I decided that 1:29.2 was good enough on race fuel and saved that setup, whilst I tried a few other tweaks.
It all looked very promising until Ati and Jose flexed their alien muscles and whacked in 1:28's!!!!
So I had to reduce the fuel to a couple of laps and go "banzai", just to see if I could match that pace. I got closer, but still 0.5 secs off Ati and only just in front of Jose in a Healey!! ( great time Jose ;) )

Well 2nd on the grid was OK and for the first time ever in GTL I managed to use the clutch properly and launch off the grid without wheelspin...Woohoo! into 1st place before T1.
At this point I should like to pass on a little acquired wisdom to my fellow drivers. If you have used your left foot on the clutch pedal when you left the grid, be sure to place it over the brake pedal before T1!!
I didn't! :o  So when I jumped on ( what I thought was ) the brakes to cement my lead position 100mtrs from T1, nothing happened!!! I just avoided the trees and scenery and trundled back onto the track in about 200th place........................bu**er!

The rest of my race was impaired by some very thick red mist  ::) and given that it was so thick I am amazed that no-one else was affected!!

My Achilles heel in GTL is still braking, and it caught me out far too often as Erling witnessed on far too many occassions as my Merc ploughed on at various corners.
Despite all of these issues, I did enjoy the race and having discovered a half decent setup  for the Merc at last, all I need to do now is learn how to drive it properly!!!!

Grats to Ati, Jose and Geoffers for stunning pace up front, not sure that I can live with that yet, maybe in a couple of years??

No apology necessary Erling.

My performance on Monday evening was worthy of a degree in ineptitude!!

With a car that would do 1:29's loaded with race fuel, I managed to finish way behind cars that were 2 secs a lap slower in qually!! That requires a special ability! ::)
