Post by: Billy Nobrakes on November 20, 2014, 10:27:33 PM +0000
Season 27 Professionals Trophy –Dundrod

The 8th round of the Professionals Championship will take place at Dundrod in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Dundrod is a street circuit used for the RAC Tourist Trophy for sports cars between 1950 and 1955 and for the motorcycle Ulster Grand Prix from 1953 onwards. It is taken from the ancient Celtic phrase which means “the place with an awful lot of corners” (not really). Good luck!

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

and me  :P Looks like we were both taken out in two goes  :-\ At least past the 50% distance though

Edit: Doni - After being lucky to survive hitting the marshal station after Turn 2 (almost taking out Dean and I), I was cautious the next few laps until I felt safe again to push  :) Problem was with driver and not car  . A shame you and Greg disco'd before 50%, Greg had the win it looked like.  :(

Jethro - Sounds like you got discoed when Uli, Ray and I also did? as you were watching the race. So 4 and 2 (but 5 while driving).

PS. I'm amazed to be 4th in the championship from 5 starts... but I can only drive Qualifying next week before going to work. So the chance is there for many people to jump me in the standings..  ;)

Forgot to mention and say thanks for the wave-by, Iestyn.  Was your Cooper off-song?

I got disconnect 38:37 into the race, same reason. I don't seem to recall this happening in the F2 race, then again I didn't make it very far in that race.

This one was a joke... not even half a mile down the road, and two discover that lane changing is not a good idea at the start. That set someone spinning, and no matter what I did I could not avoid. Sent me over on my top.

Hi guys,

tonight I lost a Dundrod win with a freeze, three and a half laps to go – what a great shame – I‘m really disappointed. :'(
Even more annoying is, that I lost great fight with Greg (same prob) and Tim …
Congratulation to your first season win and to your second place dean! :thumbup2:

BUT in the end I was scored on third place and get champ again.  ;D
Believe me I don‘t like it this way. A second or third place under normal conditions i would prefer and a win for sure much more. ;)

To times I get second in Dundrod and this time a victory was as close as ever – what a bad luck – I am heartbroken :sweatdrop:

I‘m SRY to say  , but that's not what I imagine from a Professional-Trophy.
I am already raced three times in Dundrod – and NO ONE had a Freeze !!!
Same story at East London as you all know.
There I raced about five times with not only one racer had a freeze – only here in the UK-"Professional"-Trophy this probs are arising!!!??? I‘m very sorry to say, but that‘s the fact. Could it be that there is a technical problem with the servers? ::)

Back to the good feelings, back to my race (until it stopped).
After a good start I lead the first lap, Greg (BRM) took advantage of a small mistake in lap 2 and took the lead – great maneuver, perfect watch out!  :thumbup1:
Tim (Honda) made up to his mistake in the hairpin big pressure to me! But believe me I drove very carefully. I want to be VERY sure to finish this race on podium, because of taking advantage of the unique opportunity and get champ before the last race.
For example I lost about one sec per lap only at the triple jump hills for saving my engine alive – often I shift already before 12000 rpm …

What a fantastic flow until it was over!

Thereby I love this circuit very much because of it‘s rhythm and fantastic flow (bit like clermont!) but for my first victory there I have to wait again and again and again …   :(

Looking forward to Zandy
yours champ of the 27th season

Now I‘m able to tell. My Ferrari contract will quit at the end of the year. It look‘s like that Honda, Coopper had very fast cars – isn‘t it Isteyn, Tim? But may be BRM makes me a better offer – will see …  ???

(edited by Turkey Machine: no bad language please, this is in the forum rules as well as the rules of UKGPL, a summary is located here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=10458.0). Thank you!)

Yes it's a shame!
There were no problems at all with the server in all the training sessions,
I also controlled if there was any problem or other program running on the server, but nothing...

Congrats Tim, Dean, Uli, and your little internet demons! Just surviving this course is an accomplishment! Oops, just being the last man standing means something! It was a lot of fun while it lasted.

My commiserations to all the unfortunates that Dundrod likes to chew up and spit out.

Even more annoying is, that I lost great fight with Greg (same prob) and Tim …

Yes, that is annoying. I was having a good time! I was just starting to settle into a good rhythm. I was still worried you might be 2 seconds a lap faster than me late in the race. I was pretty confident I would beat my qualifying time in the race, so I knew it wasn't going to be easy to catch me. I was slowly building up speed like a symphony building to a crescendo. It's a shame I didn't get to the grand finale, the checkered flag.

I don't get many opportunities to win in any of the F1 cars. I hate to lose such a good chance. Usually I throw my chances away myself but this is the 2nd time in S27, I've lost one because of technical problems. I missed Sachsenring in the Works division because my ISP was down. That was another rare opportunity.

Thereby I love this circuit very much because of it‘s rhythm and fantastic flow (bit like clermont!)

Yeah, I like it a lot too. It's like a crazy rollercoaster ride!

Greg (BRM) took advantage of a small mistake in lap 2 and took the lead – great maneuver, perfect watch out!

Thanks.

It was actually lap 1. I didn't have time to wait until lap 2 with Axel on tail. I was content to follow you for a while but after you had slowed me down in the previous two turns and then Axel caught us, I decided to try to pass if I got the chance. My tires were gripping good when I saw you slide. It looked like I had just enough momentum and room to get by before you could do anything about it. That may be the best pass I've ever made! I bet Axel liked it. He had a good view of what was happening.

My race ended in lap 2 after a not perfect landing at the jump in a fence...

You should have floored the gas pedal Axel when you were directly facing the hedge! I hit that hedge going so fast in the F2 race that I broke through it! I did it once too practicing in the BRM. It's shame you didn't get to finish. You could have got a decent position.

Thanks guys. It was a bit anticlimactic for me but still good fun. I want a rematch!

Moderators - no need to send me an e-mail I'll put my hand up for the crash before the first corner. Tried to move to the right side of the track as I thought there was no one there but obviously there was.

Sorry to see almost half the field having probs disconnecting. Could have been two routers going awkward (I think), with once two disconnecting, and once three guys, at the same time.

I suppose the result will stand. Couldn't make the race, lost the chance to fight for the Championship sadly, but Uli thoroughly deserved to be Champion once again this season ;) Fantastic job Uli! :)

Will do everything to win the final race, at Zandvoort, my homerace ;)

Congrats to Tim for the win, and podium!

Jumping back in here to offer Tim congrats for the victory!  Sorry for being ill-mannered not to do so earlier.

I suppose that with so many disco's and only two finishers that this event should be up for a re-run but it's late in the season so WTH.

Congrats to Uli on scoring the Pro Division title!

Cheers for the congratulations guys.

Dundrod appears to be much harder on yor own than when racing wheel to wheel!  ;D Aside from the half spin while behind Uli I otherwise drove very well in the first section of the race - as soon as I was left with no competition my concentration left me and I seemingly forgot how to drive  ::)

On the subject of potential re-runs - despite having won I have no complaints if we decide to do so, Winning without even finishing isn't very appealing if I'm honest!

(Also it would be nice to be able to keep my qualifying time and start where I should have instead of the back!)
