Thanks Tony.

Perhaps we could try Stig's street circuit again at some time, to see if the disconnection problems are still there?

Hoping that Matt might be back after this'n, so he will need to decide if/when this track is re-run.

I would like to try Attia Stadt again in a non champ event. I don't know what the score is yet, I am going home in an hour or two
and feel fine, so all being well I will probably get my nose back in over the next couple of weeks. Not allowed to drive for at least
two weeks, officially 4. Not sure that includes virtual racing, but I have to be carefull not to strain anything.

Enough of my boring medical carp, Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all  :thumbup1:

I can't get anywhere near the rollerskates with the Mustang and I take it that the Alfa 1600 SA is not allowed?

Could be good fun if we get enough people on track.

What group/year is that Alfa Clive?

Not a clue.

Will check when I next have a practice but I think they are listed as a 1600 GTA and a 1600 GTA-SA

EDIT: OK.  Just joined the server and the SA is not an option but if you don't exclude the SA in the announcement then someone may practice with it and then get miffed on the day.  ;D

Ta

But I can confirm that it wasn't there yesterday evening.  Simon couldn't find it either.

Since we have reduced grids these days, is it actually necessary to close other sims when there is a race?

EDIT:  Thanks Matt.  Feeling better?

Thought I knew Zolder, but I must have had it mixed up with something else. Nice track and fairly easy to learn, so there's a good chance of some nice close racing.

I still get booted from the server, and I also had a mismatch on the NG server. It's rather strange, because nothing has been changed on my PC

I guess I shall have to try reinstalling the whole thing, unless someone has a better idea?

And a very Happy New Year to everybody :sorcerer: :sorcerer:

Happy New Year Stig.

There were a couple of you with a missmatch on the GC server and the comments on chat seemed to indicate that a reinstall of PnG was required.

On the up side, you have a whole week to get it done.   ;D

From now on, I will appear as 'Stig' instead of Hotkeys.

I'm sure that Tony is filled with pride to know that his race announcement has brought forth the same level of cutting edge banter as Matt's usually do!   ::)

Could be a good gallop this.

I expect pole to be a 1:42 if that's of any interest.

Forgive my lack of cutting edge banter Clive ::)
I will start entering events this week as I am a bit more in the mood for it.
Let's see what the take up is, if we only get a handfull of people, then
there's no point in putting in all the work. If it looks like enough people are
interested, then I will continue the series. I only do GTL and this, so I don't really know
what the popularity is for other sims. I can't get on with AC so far so I have
no idea whether that is the future or something else is.
I like P&G and GTL so that's what I do  ;D

Did a few laps yesterday, can't remember times, I just thought it was a really good track choice by Tony
was not like the later version I sort of remembered.

But hope to be there and will have to wing it on prior knowledge

Tried a few laps in the Mustang last night, couldn't better 1.44. Nice track though, better than the chicane strewn modern version.

I managed to sneak below 1.44 in the Alfa.

Never seen this version of Zolder before - nice and flowing actually and good fun in the Cortina. 1.44s after a brief practice and most corners are foot to the floor! Free time is limited at the moment however - hope to make it tonight, but not 100% certain.

Shame you can't be there MJ, but there are no points to be earned this evening, this is a fun race
that Tony put on while I was indisposed. Hopefully lots of people will come out to play all the same  :thumbup1:

I thought my online problems were over, but P&G never ceases to find new ways to pull your leg!  :taz: :cursing: :death: :censored:  :2guns: :gun_bandana: :hammer: :hang:  :tank:

This one was new to me:

When quali was done, I went into the sky, when I tried to get on the grid. I tried once more and the car landed somewhere in the back of the pit area.
As I tried to drive back to the entrance, I got at stop and go penalty ::)

A pity, car and track was really my cup of tea.

Enjoyed a nice little 10 lap duel with another stang at the back too 8)

Yes, a good dice there, Legzy.

An excellent duel with Frex in his Cortina.  Very fair and great fun.  :)

Can't say the same for Matt's driving.  :(

Without a shadow of doubt, I can thank John for that one.  ;D  Spot of role reversal.  It is usually me that messes up the oppositions chances at the start of a race to let John get away and this time he returned the favour.

I think that Matt miscalculated the length of the start-finish straight, which meant that I had to lap him on the outside of T1 and from then on I had Evil all over me like a bad suit.

SBRC locked out the first four positions so all's well that ends well!

The last few corners were a bit tight but I think that even the Mercedes management would have been happy with our efforts to share the corners without anything more than a bit of paint being needed by way of repair.

I was almost certain to win a race that didn't count towards anything but thanks to Tony for setting it up.  :thumbup2:

This was by far my best showing in PnG.
Thanks to John who shared a setup with the Soggies, which with a just a few very minor tweaks to suit myself, and only a few laps offline practice, was turning in 1:44's on race fuel. When Clive suggested that pole might need a 1:42, I thought , "well at least I should be somewhere in the pack and enjoy a good bit of racing".

Just for once I weakened and did a qually run on minimal fuel instead of sticking to race fuel like I normally do. To say I was surprised to get pole was an understatement, I figured that if I could get a 1:42, then there would be 3 or more doing 1:41'''s!!!

I over egged the start and wheel spin cost me 2 places before T1. Clive pulled a gap immediately and with John's Cortinny  in chase that pair threatened to run away. I was determined to hold on as long as I could and see if my pole position was a true reflection of  my pace. My smile was getting wider as I realised after a few laps that not only could I stay with the dynamic duo, but that in places I was able to close up so much on John that I had to back off. A few more laps working out where I might make a move and I was able to squeeze past John and set off after Clive, who had sneakily stretched his lead to over 3 secs.

I was slowly reeling Clive in by a couple of tenths per lap, and a quick bit of mental arithmetic told me I should be with him before the final laps. Until I made a total pratfest of the final chicane and bounced along the grass. John did not need a second invitation and  re-took 2nd spot.
I had to do it all again, but this time John was wise to where I had the advantage and despite sitting on his bootlid, he was just not taking the hint!! Then he made the same mistake that I had and bounced along the outside of the S/F straight.
From then on I just nailed it and pushed as hard as I dared to try and catch Clive..time and laps were running out. With 2 laps to go a pair of backmarkers came into play and I was able to close the last 0.5secs to the back of Clive's car.

The last lap was going to be interesting  ;D
Through the earlier laps it was apparent that Clive was quicker in the first half of the lap and I was a fraction quicker for the 2nd half. I had to start my move at the hairpin so with a good run off the previous corner I stuck it down the outside and risked everything on some late braking.
We exited the hairpin side by side, through the little Esses  side by side. Up to the final chicane and still side by side. Much exchanging of paint samples and a deft nudge from Clive's car that forced 2 of my wheels onto the grass as we hit the final straight made the difference.
0.4 secs from a win!!! I wuz robbed!!!  :ninja:

Grats to Clive and John for some great racing and a Soggy 1,2,3,4.

Apart from getting tangled up in the T2 catch fencing on each of the first 3 laps that was a lot of fun..!

Long battle with Doni in the Mustang, many side by side moments. Then Matt arrived to join us and things got a little more hectic - and suddenly I was ahead with a big gap. Don't know what happened, but I slowed to allow the others to catch back up.. ..but only Matt appeared. Don't know what happened to Doni, but a shame that we could not all finish. Good fun though.

Congrats podium.

Got a reasonable start and was able to get the jump on Clive into second place just behind Clive. The 'tina din't have the legs of the Alfa on the straights but I was able to hold my own in the corners and keep Clive behind for a few laps. Good gentlemanly racing from Clive, not forcing the issue where he could have done, but it was only a matter of time before the inevitable pass came though, and I was hoping to be able to hold on to the back of him and that he'd drag us both up on to Clive's tail.

It worked for a few laps until Clive's mistake at the chicane made a passing opportunity too good to miss. He was soon back on my bumper and I made it easy by catching one of those vicious kerbs a lap or two later >:( I was slightly too back to get a tow after that so Clive slowly disappeared up the road towards Clive. I was waiting for them to slow each other up so I could have a chance, but it didn't happen.

Grats Clive and, um, Clive ;D

Ahem, I promise not to do the 'Clive' joke again...

In spite of investing in a new Logitech G27 I'm still a second a lap too slow :(

Chased Geoffers for most of the race, he'd managed to pretty much get away when he did the decent thing and fell off at the last chicane.

Work to do

Yeh, the kerbs caught me out there  ::). Didn't seem to do anything different to other laps when I had caught the kerb on the exit, but that time the car just snapped sideways & speared into the pitlane catchfencing  ???. Was having a good race up to then very gradually easing away from Simon. Knew I couldn't match the Alfas & John so was settling for 4th place.
Still was only a fun event, so I thought I would give Clive a chance. ;D
