Just to confirm which cars we can use Matt.

Group A: BMW CSL all including the IMSA

Group B: BMW CSL 3.3 12v, there isn't a 24v 3.3.

Chortle, yes, winning smarts here  >:D
I found the 3.3 12v to be more nimble round here, though both the 12v cars are
for me at least a couple of seconds slower than the 24 volt ones.

The tyres seem to be good for all of a lap!  No matter which ones I put on!

Ah yes , the tyres. The 3.3 12v front left gets hot enough to fry bacon, but lasts better than it looks

Charade is a wonderful track, but I I sure don't like the Beamer.

If I use soft tyres, it has good grip, but gets hopeless to handle for me, once the tires are half worn.

I need to use hard tires, but then the car has very poor grip, and I tend to leave the tarmic on a more regular basis :- ))

My best laptime on the Hard Tires and race fuel is 2.03.xxx, bit I will be very happy just to finish this one.

Worry not Stig, in the 12 volt machine I have only seen one 2:03 and that was on soft tyres!

I shall just go for a stooge and hope everybody else hits the scenery a lot!

Apologies to Provocateur and a few other drivers for my bad driving in the opening lap.Should have practised on meds and blown the red mist away before dashing off the line! This more or less sums up my evening at Charade. Ok qually and awfully bad race until fatal(for the engine that is) crash. No one to blame but me. Sorry team.
Hope everybody else had a great time.

Cheers, Dan

tough cars on that track, yet I had an easy test session, but I think the Schnizer was
more powerful than my test car, it sure was a handful  :o

Really didn't like that combo at all. The beemers had shocking handling on that track and what's with the over cooking front left brake that pitches the car into a slide it spin under heavy braking?! Tried to dial it out but found the raconv painful. After getting pitched off for no apparent reason once again, I parked up and quit in disgust. :(

These cars are better on tracks they can stretch their legs on. Dijon prenois would have been much better. A great track we've forgotten to use.

Let's face it I thought that I was always going to struggle here, with a "B" grade car and lack of experience with these Beemers.
I have to agree with some of the other comments here that I find the handling "different", maybe if I had a few hundred hours to practice I might get my head around it. ::)

I used a Soggies setup and tweaked it a little, mostly in the brake balance to move it back and allow the front to turn in earlier. This also seemed to help keep the front tyres out of the infra red spectrum.
A quick practice session proved that the softs would probably not last the race so I stuck mediums all round and they were still 75% intact at the end of the race, so maybe the softs might have survived?? who knows.

A gentle nudge on Lap 1 left me at the rear of the field and playing catch up in an underpowered car...not good  :-\.
But slowly I reeled in a few targets ahead and Matt (phspok) appeared from somewhere behind to hassle me. Eventually he got past and I tried to stay with him as we closed on Doni and Mark ahead.
at half distance a sudden epidemic of Hari Kari erupted and cars seemed to be throwing themselves off the track ahead of me. Doni, Mark, Legzy, Senior Dan, and Matt and then Postal all dropped off the charts. A couple of them rejoined behind for a few laps and then quit, except Matt who insisted on being a nuisance and hunted me down again.
Despite defending as fairly as I could, the extra strain on my tyres was getting them very hot and eventually i got a tank slapper out of the final corner just as Matt drew alongside. There was contact and I only just held it together as Matt went ahead. Then guilt got the better of him and he relinquished the place ( although he did not need to IMHO), not only that but he dropped back by about 7 seconds as well!! Then i relised it was just a ploy to demonstrate his superior speed and ability, because he rapidly closed the gap in the final few laps to sweep past!!. I made the last lap a banzai effort to keep the pressure on hoping for another mistake from Matt, but he didn't oblige and I discovered the limit of temperature and grip on the medium tyres as I spun on the penultimate corner.

Mmmm well, i don't agree with you MJ. I liked this combo very much! I think i like any track where we can run these kind of cars hihihi..

Maybe it was because i actually had time to do some practice for once and had dialed the car in so it would behave itself. True it is a bit of a twisty track for these powerfull machines, but still i had a blast around Charade.
My start was ok, tried to stay out of trouble. Was running 5th when i got some pressure :fencing: from Clive. After a couple of laps looking at my rearbumper he forced his way through entering T2. I didn't like it, but i could appreciate it. :P
From then on i was putting in solid laps and was happy with my race pace. Maybe i was feeling too comfy as on lap 13 i hit the throttle maybe a bit to hard exiting the penultimate turn. It started a slide and i decided i would just hit the brakes let it come to a hold and blast off again. Only when i hit the brakes it just turned into the armco and killed the engine! What a shame, finally a good race but no result to show for.

Matt, as far as i am concerned you can take MJ's suggestion. ;D I am sure it will be great too!

MJ is right that we should use Dijon some time, and I will. Problem for me is that I wanted to use these cars
somewhere that there would not be too massive a performance gap, and at somewhere like Dijon there would have been
too much of a power difference. I think I must have used a less powerful variant in testing, because I thought
they drove well here. My choice for the race seemed to be wanting to swap ends into and out of corners all the time.

Sorry about that Postal, as it was my third or fourth attempt I thought that you would have known where I was by then.  You seemed to be having problems on the brakes.  You might have been better to claim the inside line earlier on, as there was no way that I could go around the outside and out of the corners you had the car with the extra grunt.

On the final occasion, we contacted front wheel to front wheel, at the apex of the corner, but I appreciate that you wouldn't have actually seen me until we contacted.  I find the PnG mirrors much more difficult to judge things by than the old GPL version.

I was so busy looking in my mirrors to see what had happened that I went gardening a couple of corners further on.

Maybe not relevant, but some of the CSLs have abs, some don't. I think most (but not all) the 24v cars have it, but none of the 12v cars do.

No worries Clive. Your move was ok and i don't mind we had a little contact. It was more that i noticed you on the inside at the very last moment indeed. I was cartwheeled onto the grass, other than that it was no problem. It was certainly more entertaining then running on your own the whole race!

Hello everyone :D,
tried a couple of days with BMW 12V that was more honest with the tires ???.
Tuesday I tried the BMW 24v honestly was fine but with the averages of 2-01 times ???.
The day of the race within the BMW 24v begin to run with the full back to the pits I realize that you can go out and dorms BMW IMSA :o return with BMW IMSA load a setup of Solitude put in place the gearbox and tires and soft start too late to turn end practice begins the qualification :-\.

I remove the gasoline and I can do a good qualifying lap ;D. (I remain in awe when I see times johnw "Big" :o).

By competing with Soft ???, good start but I plan for the first round (thanks for not letting me Geoffers buffered at the first turn ).

At around 10 I realize that the soft tires wear out and lose grip off the track >:( and I come from a past Geoffers (Congratulations). I think to make the pit but eventually I'm holding and arrival 2nd :).

Congratulations to all, good race and congratulations to Geoffers johnw soon I passed  :notworthy:.

Hello to the next ;D.

Bit surprised to win this one. I like the IMSA CSL but was never quite happy with the setup for this track, even though the car is supposed to have ABS I was locking the brakes into corners.  ???

Made a mess of the start, changed into 2nd too early & spun up the tyres & got a bit crossed-up. Sorry to John if I impeded you a bit. Fede was away into the distance & Dan nipped into 2nd place, only to lose it at the first chicane. Settled into 2nd with Fede pulling away in front & Frex & John fighting over 3rd. As the race went on I had settled for 2nd, but suddenly Fede spun & I just got by at the bottom of the hill. Was expecting him to fight back, but he seemed to be having trouble getting off the turns & I quickly pulled away to a fairly comfortable win  :o

Congrats to Fede & John (remarkable pace in the 12v)

I know which is my line on the graph.....it's the one the declines steadily from left to right  :-\

So, Yes!! I do look at them, but i don't know why??? :helpsmilie:
