Post by: Cookie on February 27, 2015, 03:23:28 PM +0000
Season 28 -60fpsV2newmod– 66s - Bikerneiki

This TEST of the 66 mod with the 60fpsV2newmod will prove if all can use it (read the quote!)

The race will be run under INT rules and you have a free car choice.
The more experienced drivers should not take the fatest cars and make it a challenge for themseves ;)

We will use the 60fpsV2newmod (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season27/60fps/) to test if your 66 install is set up correct!

Race List =   IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP Address = look at IGOR
Race date = 03-02-2015
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Track = Biker (http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=6146)
Variant = 66
60fps patch = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = INT
Race length = 25 laps
Replay = you will get here (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season28/Funraces/)

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Have FUN!

The 66 mod and 66fpsv2newmod

I was one of those who could only run the 66 mod with 60fpsv1. This is how I fixed it. There's no need to uninstall anything

Run "gpl1966complete_1.1"
Delete the "gpl66" folder from gpl\Mods\GEM+
Run "1966mod_PATCH_v2.0_Setup"
Delete "gplc66.exe" from the gpl folder
Run GEM+, select 66 mod and 60fpsv2newmod

It worked for me. I hope it works for you.

Looking forward to this race, did an install lap (not something I do often anymore!) and the track looks great!  8)

Sorry but I'll need a detailed translation of fester's commentary above.  I seem to have none of these 1.1 or PATCHv2.0 files.  Neither can find a reference to them in GP66 mod files.

I couldn't find the 1.1 patch either.  But the V2 patch is here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/seujl6zox03ilt2/1966_Mod_PATCH_v2.0.7z)

Before I ran the V2 patch I renamed the directory C:\Sierra\GPL\Mods\GEM+\GPL66 to C:\Sierra\GPL\Mods\GEM+\GPL66_old

The patch seems to be OK and my 66mod installation runs fine with 60fpsV2newmod

Both files available here ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Mods/1966/

1.1 is not a patch but the 66 Mod installation exe file. I don't know whether it's necessary to run it but I've no idea what the V2.0 patch does and thought it best to start with with unpatched files.

I successfully installed as follows:

Mod: existing 1966 mod installed

Steps:

1) Delete directory "gpl66" from within the sierra/gpl/mods/gem+ directory (or wherever you installed GPL)
2) Run 66 patch v2.0 - if in doubt, study the readme file as it's very useful
3) Delete gplc66.exe from your sierra/gpl directory
4) Run GEM+, select your 66 player or carset, enter GPL
5) Confirm you can still get into the various tracks fullscreen
6) Exit GPL, enable 60fpsv2newmod, go back into GPL, re-test

The above confirmed that 60fpsv2newmod worked successfully on my usual GPL install.

UKGPL_8 is running on IGOR to prove your attempts  ;)

Test it before the race!

In case you didn't know, I reuploaded the 1966 mod website last year and updated the links to point to the update ;) .

http://www.grandprixlegends.co.nf/1966/

The 2.0 patch adds supports for long tracks, more tracks in season.ini, and more options for the technical side of things :)

Thanks for that, Tommie.  :)

And thanks to you, too, Axel, for helping get things sorted re the 60fps files.  I was on the server for the Biker event in GP66 cars.  A solid frame rate of 60fps most everywhere.  Keen track, too!

Another issue was my hurting back but i'm starting physio again today ;)

See you soon on track

Glad we got the 66s 60fps sorted, thanks to fester!

Yeah, this is a real fun track, so I decided after the first lap dead last, to not give up and take the challenge ;D

Great racing, thanks to all participants of those "season break" fun races!

Now let's start the real S28 championships!

Both track and car ran fine during practice.  I hit a problem corner during the race, and Greg felt the consequences.  After mini-freeze 1, time to brake.  After mini-freeze 2, time to break a Ferrari.  Sorry to have caused such devastation to Italy's finest!  My race then went downhill. :-\

Stayed to watch a great race for the win.

Congrats Dean, Clive, Axel! With a little better luck I might have been able to do some good racing with you guys.

Once again, I apologize Axel. I was very disappointed with myself. I could have taken the lead but I didn't deserve the position. I wasn't overzealous either. I was actually trying to be a little cautious. Once you and Ray came together there was no point in staying behind you any longer. If that was bad start to lap 1, the finish of it was even worse. I couldn't figure out what to do when DaveR spun in front of me. Then once again I almost hit Axel when I miscalculated the gap between him and the car in front of him. I knew that at any point that I saw Axel behind me in prib I was going to give him the position. It's a shame it happened much sooner that I thought it would.

I had to look at the replay to see what the he** happened when you hit me Martin. I thought I had cleared you well enough and that you must have missed your braking point. In my replay though, you disappear well before we get to the turn and suddenly reappear at the apex at the same time I do. I knew I wasn't very slow into the turn because I was closing nicely on Axel. I thought getting mired in the grass after bumping Dave on lap 1 trashed my lap time severely but nothing like having to let everybody pass before I could reset. That's the worst warp wreck I've had yet.

Thanks for letting me by Doni. 2.4 liters just didn't present me with any real opportunity to pass. I was working on setting you up for a pass but I don't know if I ever could have got around you.

I wasn't prepared for how much of a difference in speed I could carry through some sections of the track versus the other drivers. I try not to do anything too stupid. Being cautious wasn't enough at this track. I needed to be extremely cautious.

Thanks for the race guys. I was a little sad I didn't get to race with the leaders but I had fun nonetheless.

On the tech side, I got a few stutters here and there. It seems that I often get a stutter if I can see the flagman and he starts waving his flag. My computer crashed once in prerace practice. Another time, when I exited the car the screen went black instead of displaying the menu page. Neither GPL or the computer crashed then. And little after that I started getting an echo in my sound. This track/mod combination was a little buggy for me but I didn't have any real problems with the computer during Q or the race. I had all sorts of problems not too long after the race though. I found I had a faulty serial cable on my hard drive. Hopefully, all the glitches I've been experiencing for more than a week are gone now.

Yea, that was fun couple of laps, Greg.  I enjoyed trying to hold you off and may have continued to do so for a little while longer but it was apparent that you were quicker.  When I turned you loose, I did my best to hang on.  Unsuccessfully.

As a first-time outing in the GP66's @ 60fps for me, it was a success.
