Title: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) Friday Trophy - Hockenheim - Mar 20
Post by: Cookie on March 17, 2015, 10:48:37 AM +0000
S28 - Friday Mixed Trophy - Round 3 - Formula 2 - Hockenheim 67

The next round of the S28 Friday Mixed Trophy finds us again at Hockenheim.
Using the 1967 layout the track has some long fast straights through the forest and a tricky, twisty stadium section.

If you have not yet installed the track: install "hockenheim.zip" and add Thomas Laechele's high or lowres version (http://www.thomas-laechele.de/gpl/index.html)!

This first race is free of handicaps,
but remember: for the LIGHT drivers the most popular car will be dropped for the rest of the season!

ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.
If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded if you cannot s+g before the finish line in the pit lane.

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
Please check the Season 28 pages for details (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=470&theme=6) regarding rules and the Friday Trophy (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=481&theme=6) pages in particular.

Robert this was a good race tx to you but your car you was in disavvantage.
Outside the stream lose speed otherwise the battle could be more intense, like the battle at Monza with Evilclive.
Beautiful and unexpected your last overtake.
Is beatiful to race with a pilot correct ,also if sometime the error can happen to the best pilot, this time was not the case
Thank you

Bernie,  for me, in my 'tracks' folder I only have 'hockenhm'.

Assuming that's what you have too;  I can put zipped up copy somewhere if that's of some use?
Actually, now I look at it;  there are not many files in there/dates are from 2003 so I've probably not put any updates in there then...

Any, good luck with you ongoing journey of GPL working-ness...

Cheers,
Dave.

You're welcome Fran :) Yes the car was slow, but you drove well finishing in front of me. Thought there was 1 more lap and was planning another move entering the Motodrom!  ;D

Bernie sometimes it helps to read the race post...

My race was "ended" when I entered the Motodrom in lap8, thanks Dean ::)

...My race was "ended" when I entered the Motodrom in lap8, thanks Dean ::)

Well then, change the race results to reflect that "fact".

Sorry for the contact, I thought you knew I was there, you had taken a rather wide entry, I hugged the inside as much as I could same as when I passed you in that very spot a few laps previous. Glad to see you could continue undamaged, but for the future, not spinning all on your own in the very next corner tends to help mitigate the overall consequences of unintended, minor contact such as occurred between us.  :thumbup1:

edit: Thanks for some great racing, to GT and ID as well.

Axel I tried your suggestion first of coarse , I think its something to do with Norton AV protection being hyperactive when I do downloads,  but I  can't fathom out why some tracks d/l ok while others get blocked !

Is it possible that UKGPL3 has some of the track files that have been nobbled ?

In GEM what is GF2.INI ?

I noticed Hockenhiem is listed in there , but why ?
Asking because I never put it there and the track wasn't installed when I did my fresh install of GEM ???

If you play a whole F2 Championship offline you can use it...

Now look for tomorrows Privs to have Stardust proper installed ;)

d/l  hockenhiem.zip again , unzip the file , click the little red car , the installer wont  run .

I have tried copy and paste into  GPL / tracks directory still no good  :-\

Stardust runs fine thanks

Something new now , when I load any track,  I press green button to car in pits lane,  the engine is running at about 6000 RPM's , have to press gas pedal and release then its OK . just another little glitch comes along to help cheer me up in this wonderful game  ::)

As long as you use any Norton ...ware, don't wonder.

The behaviour of the 6000rpm is normal, just touch the steering wheel and it goes down ;)

Congrats Iestyn and Dean! Nice job working your way through the field Iestyn.

This has been an intense set of races at Hockenheim. Out of three races, I think I drove two race laps where I wasn't trying to get everything I could out of the car.

I thought the Lola-BMW would do well here as long as I didn't lose the tow. The only time I wasn't in it, I was in the lead. I knew I could never break away from the other cars without mistakes but felt nobody could break away from me without me making a mistake. Dean had the car to run me down but instead he brought Iestyn closer to me before he made another mistake. I got so excited on my fast lap that I passed Iestyn before the stadium section revealing my hand one lap too early. I couldn't time it correctly on the last lap and after such a clean drive I sure wasn't going to risk ruining it by trying any thing desperate on the last lap.

Great fun guys! I appreciate it.
